Fall TV Schedule
Some of you have asked what I'll be watching this season on TV. Here's the plan. Of course, I won't keep watching all of these, but I'll at least give each one a chance. Thank heaven for TiVo!: Monday How I Met Your Mother The Big Bang Theory Chuck Heroes Journeyman Tuesday The Biggest Loser Wednesday Kid Nation Private Practice Bionic Woman Life Thursday THE OFFICE!!! Big Shots Grey's Anatomy Sunday Desperate Housewives Brothers & Sisters No, I don't watch too much TV. No. What do you mean? I'm just pop-culturely connected. ;)
Just 'cause it makes me laugh...
Dwight: Jim, Jim, Jim. Jim, Jim, Jim, Jim, Jim, Jim, Jim. Jim: Oh, hey, Dwight. Dwight: I'm going to be your new boss. It's my greatest dream come true. Welcome to the Hotel Hell. Check-in time is now. Check-out time is never. Jim: Does my room have cable? Dwight: No. And the sheets are made of fire! Jim: Can I change rooms? Dwight: Sorry, we're all booked up. Hell convention in town. Jim: Can I have a late check-out? Dwight: I'll have to talk to the manager. Jim: You're not the manager? Even in your own fantasy? Dwight: I'm the owner. The co-owner. With Satan. Jim: Okay, just so I understand it. In your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil. Dwight: Yeah, but I haven't told you my salary yet. Jim: Go. Dwight: $80,000 a year. (from The Office)
I love Jim & Pam! For all you Jim/Pam lovers of The Office (seriously, it will make your day so much better): Thanks to Erica for the link!
TiVo Obsessed! Okay, so I am completely obsessed with my TiVo now... I loved it before, but now that Mac users can transfer their recorded TiVo programs to their computers (and ultimately ipods), I just LOVE IT! I especially like this because I recorded a bunch--I mean a LOT--of episodes of Wildfire on New Years Day when ABC Family had a marathon. I've never seen the show, but my step-sister (who loves horses) really likes the show, so I thought I might watch it so we have something in common to talk about (she's thirteen and therefore we are limited on things to talk about). I have yet to watch even one episode, but I need the room on my Tivo, so transferring them and then taking them off the TiVo is great! In other TV news, okay, so who loved last night's episode of The Office? Me! Me! My favorite scene had to be Angela asking Pam to go get some coffee... and then Angela beaming while she told Pam about Dwight taking the papers to NYC for her... Awww! If I can't be all gooey over Jim and Pam, I'll totally cheer for Dwight and Angela. They are cute in a weird way, don't ya think?
Rice cookers & recipes + a new card
Okay, so sometimes I watch HSN. And they finally got to me last weekend. I bought the Wolfgang Puck rice cooker. Let me tell you, it's FABULOUS! I love it! I spent all weekend cooking rice and mac and cheese. Yes, I said mac and cheese! You can cook other things besides rice in it! Perfect for those lazy days in the summer when I don't want to fire up the stove top or oven. In fact, the recipes included in the instruction manual are delish! :) The mac and cheese was pretty good. The noodles weren't quite done, so the next time I make it, I'll cook the pasta just a bit before I add all the ingredients to the rice cooker. I also made some rice pudding and just plain rice to keep in the fridge for quick after work meals. One recipe that I found last Friday that I really like is from the Cooking Light web site... Chile-Cheese Rice Burritos I saved some of it for lunch today at work and it went really well. I just packed the filling in a container, the lettuce in a little baggy, and the salsa in a little miniature Glad plastic container, and put all of it in my handy-dandy pink lunch bag (which I bought from Amazon.com). A quick heat up of the filling and a tortilla and I was in business. Yum! And some more yummy... This is one of the cards I have planned for my January stamp club meetings. Yes, that's meetings, as in plural! My first club has gone so well that when a few more ladies from work wanted to join but there wasn't room, I decided to start another! Anyway, here's the card. I want to feature the color spritzer and show that it can be used in a sophisticated, subtle way. I used it here tone on tone to add depth to the chocolate chip card stock.
A long TV recap I've been pretty non-existant over here lately. Mostly because I've had no motivation to write about anything. In fact, I haven't even been in a real crafty mood. I just want to watch all the new TV shows!
Am I a dork or what? While I was at work today, I took a short break and made this:
Project Runway: Sept. 6 Last night's Project Runway had all the makings of great TV. I had NO IDEA what was going to happen!
Cupcakes!
First of all, notice the new masthead on the blog. Look up. In the tv, that's Jim and Pam in a lip-lock. Man, I love that show... Speaking of, I stalk Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesley from The Office)—but only via her myspace blog. :) I love her little tidbits about working on the set, all her goofy photos, her gushing over jewelry, and of course any insight into the life of John Krasinski, my television boyfriend. She's a funny gal. Each afternoon at work I get a bit stir-crazy and have to pry myself away from designing to get a break. I usually check her blog for a new entry. Ahh... Her blog gets me through until the next episode of The Office. But it's been a long long summer and I needed an Office fix this afternoon. No new Office info on her blog, but she does point out this: the Cupcake Courier. Hello! That's the coolest thing ever. I love cupcakes! But I didn't know I loved them until like three years ago when I was reading one of my favorite blogs and the writer made cupcakes for her daughters birthday and posted a photo. (silence) They were the most beautiful cupcakes I've ever seen. All of their cupcake-edy goodness traveled across the world wide web and stabbed my heart. I HAD to make a cupcake like that. I tried. Mine were ugly. But they were delicious. If only I had the Cupcake Courier to inspire me to make cupcakes. Sigh. In a craft related note, I got my online orders from A Million Little Things (some Fontwerks and Paper Salon) and 2Peas (some Chatterbox and Basic Grey rub-ons)... Oh, the goodness! I can't believe I'd never used a rub-on until about a month ago! I just want to scrap all night! But, alas, I think I'll limit myself to working on my swaps for this weekend. My SU! upline has a training in St. George once a year and I am most definitely attending! So, I need to make, like, 50 cards or something. Better get crackin'.
Strange Television Dreams Usually I don't remember my dreams, but lately I have. Weird. Last night's dream featured The Vicar of Dibley, a british sitcom that I absolutely adore. I own the all the series on DVD and have to break them out every once in a while to watch them. For those of you who haven't seen it, it's freakin' hilarious! Anyway, in the dream, the cast of The Vicar of Dibley was traveling all over the world performing on stage. Now, I don't think they've ever done this before. Maybe in front of a studio audience, but never in a theater. So, they came to Salt Lake and my entire family was going to see the show. Right before it was to begin, they asked me if I could replace Alice in the cast. Okay... that was strange. So there I am, on stage with Dawn French (who I LOVE!), delivering Alice's lines (which miraculously I know) when someone out in the audience who is trying to move from one balcony/box seat to another throws a small baby hoping that a person in the next balcony will catch it. Not so. THUD! The entire audience and all the actors on stage (including me) gasp. The next thing I know a booming voice comes over the sound system, praying over the baby that it will be okay. Everyone says “amen” and then the voice says, “There will be a 15 minute intermission.” The entire audience leaves. And never comes back. So does the cast and crew. Everyone except for me and Dawn French, sitting on stage staring out into the empty theater. That was the strangest dream. Can anyone interpret?
Is this not the most beautiful picture?
I love Jim and Pam... I don't care if they weren't at the Emmy's as their characters--they will always be Jim and Pam to me. :)
Keep on Moving
Well, the move is nearly all done. I have my pantry and the refrigerator to go through, but once that's done tomorrow night, I'll be all done with the moving. Thank heavens!
Trisha invited members from our church over to help clean before we hand over the keys to the new renters. I was floored when about 30 people showed up! I still had quite a few boxes and odds and ends to move tonight, but it only took us about 5 minutes to move them all. And then when I came back after taking some things to my storage unit, the entire house was cleaned. I'm so grateful to everyone, but at the same time it's hard to let other people do the job I'm supposed to be doing, you know? It's hard for me to be the one receiving of service. All day Saturday and Sunday I moved things by myself. My mom couldn't help because after moving furniture on Saturday, her knees were really hurting her. So I did seventy percent of all the moving myself. Okay, where did I gather so much stuff?! Or rather, WHY did I gather so much stuff? Every time I think of buying something, I'll have to remind myself of carrying it down the stairs, across the street, and then back up the stairs. If I can justify carting it around everywhere, then maybe I can buy it. That should help out the credit card situation. ;) Especially when one of the reasons I'm moving home is to get out of debt. ------------- Okay, how great was it that The Office one the Emmy for best comedy last night!? I was loving it! Okay, John Krasinski is so adorably cute! I love him! It was great to see the entire cast, but I was thinking, “Where's Jim? Where's Pam?” I can't wait for the new season to start! AHH! I must leave you all with the lovely face of John Krasinski. He's the second one in from the right. I think I'm in geeky dweeby love...
