Kristina Category: Color Inspiration Color Inspiration #41![]() Happy Wednesday, everyone! This week's photo was taken while I was out shopping with Venessa not too long ago. We found this really cute boutique selling dresses for little girls and these dresses were right inside the window. So cute! :) And perfect for a Valentine's Day card, too! Anyhow, enjoy! Even though there is not a round-up anymore, the same rules for linking apply. :)

Color Inspiration #40 ![]() Hi all! Forgive me for posting the next challenge before I posted the round-up for #39. Isn't getting back from a traveling just awful? I can't seem to catch up! Anyway, I didn't want to keep you all waiting for the next Color Inspiration Challenge, so here is #40. I saw these ribbons in a store while I was out shopping a few weeks ago. Aren't they pretty?Should be an interesting and citrus-y color combo. Enjoy the colors and I'll catch up with you soon with the last color round-up. :)

Color Inspiration #39 ![]() Hi all! First of all, I have to apologize for not having a round-up for last week's challenge. It's been a super crazy week. Between planning ahead at work (since I'll be out of the office for a week) and at home (filming double MACM and Finally Friday videos for while I'm gone), I've been a bit occupied. Please forgive me! I have looked through them and I've been super impressed. For this week, though, here are the colors courtesy of a photo I took nearly four years ago while I was on a trip to New York City with my college. Great bright colors! I hope you enjoy! Oh, and Green Galore is SUPER bright, so feel free to pick another green if you'd like. It's just the closest green to the photo. Extra credit to all of you who use Green Galore. :)

Color Inspiration #38 ![]() Hi all! This week's Color Inspiration Challenge comes from Nicole's desk at work. This is her Thomas Paul mousepad notepad (see it over here at seejanework.com). Isn't it cool? She had a ton of notes taken on the notepad, so she kindly ripped off the top sheet for me to take a photo. And believe me, the colors are way off in the photo. The red color actually is a Ruby Red-like color. My little iPhone doesn't take very good photos in low light, the poor thing. :( Anyhow, join in and create something! Just follow the directions below. :)

CI #37 Round-Up
Holy crap, Batman! Did ya all eat some happy crafting pills last week?! Holy CRAP! There were so many entries for the Color Inspiration Challenge #37. And there were about a million of them, and ALL of them were fantastic!
Not only were the cards great, but you all are taking better and better photographs of your work! I've really noticed, and I'm sure everyone else has, too! It's so great to see your wonderful work in a nice, clear photo. I'm telling you, it makes such a difference. :) So, here are the top 25. Yes, TWENTY-FIVE! I couldn't believe it! Enjoy! I know I did. :)
Color Inspiration #37
This week's Color Inspiration Challenge comes from some pencils I saw on Robyn's desk at work. Aren't they cute? She got them from seejanework.com and when I saw them I knew they'd be perfect for a color challenge. Anyhow, since I was SUPER busy this week and didn't get the challenge up at the usual time, I'm extending the deadline by a couple days. Hopefully that will give ya'll enough time to play. :) Have fun!

CI #36 Round-Up
Wow, I am completely overwhelmed with amount of Color Inspiration Challenge submissions this week. Seriously, it amazes me each week how many of you use my little color challenges to create something you're so proud of--and you should be proud because I see such growth in all of you. You are spectacular, creative, amazing, inspiring, and motivating. :)
And I just wanted to say thank you for all you guys do for me every day. You all are so supportive and I so appreciate you spending the time to check in on my little corner of the web. Isn't it great that we can come together over something as little as cards? But, I'm sure you know it's more than that. It's about friendship and making handmade items to share with friends. And then you jump online to share with others as well, and then we can become friends over a common interest... paper. :) Anyhow, keep it up each week, girls! These color challenges are not just to help you get a jumping off point to create something you enjoy. View it as an opportunity to grow and be creative. And each week I'm so amazed at all the things you create. So here are this week's top 15. Everyone did so great. These are just a few of the awesome things that were created using the colors:
Color Inspiration #36 ![]() Hi all! The colors for this week's challenge come from a pin cushion that I found on Paula's desk at work. One of our co-workers Amy made cute pin cushions for Christmas gifts this year. When I saw it, I immediately had to take a picture. Isn't that tiny butterfly on the pin adorable? I love it! :) Anyhow, enjoy the colors and I can't wait to see what you do with them!

CI #35 Round-Up
Hi everyone!
Wow, was it just me or were there a lot of really great submissions for the last challenge? Whoa. I had a hard time picking just ten! :) Before I get to the top ten, I wanted to let you know that I'll be skipping this week's Color Inspiration Challenge because of all the holiday fun and craziness this week. We'll resume next Tuesday with CI #36. With that taken care of...
CI #34 Round-Up
Hi all! It's late here and I'm working on Friday's video, so I thought I'd wrap up last week's color challenge while I wait for the video to upload to YouTube (no, it's not live, I just upload it early). :)
There were so many great cards this week. And quite a few scrapbook pages, too. I was truly impressed. And because the colors were so soothing, it was so wonderful to go to everyone's sites and galleries and see the different interpretations. Everything from baby cards to Christmas cards to sympathy cards. There were so many! Anyhow, here are my top ten...
Color Inspiration #35 ![]() Hey, guys! I'm actually writing this up a night early because I'm not feeling well and want to get to bed early and sleep in. Headache and weird feeling stomach. Hope I'm not getting the flu. :) This week's Color Inspiration Challenge features a sweater that my co-worker Joellyn was wearing at work today. She walked past me, I said hello, and then, "WAIT! Can I take a picture of your sweater?" LOL! Thanks, Joellyn, for letting this weirdo take a photo of your sweater. Apparently, she bought it at Anthropologie. Isn't it gorgeous!? I love those colors. I wish I had a nice pale minty color, but I suppose Baja Breeze will do. :) Have fun! I'll catch up with you later on Tuesday to post the round-up from last week. I figured getting the challenge up was more important since I know some of you need to see the challenge early to carve out enough time to tackle it. :)

Color Inspiration #34 ![]() This week's Color Inspiration comes from a photo I took while I was in New York last spring. All these colorful bits of yarn were in the window of Purl Soho. I don't know how they fit all that color in one little itty bitty shop! If any of you have the chance to visit this awesome knitting shop, you'll know what I mean. :) Anyhow, enjoy the colors. And as usual, feel free to add a neutral color (like white or vanilla). Have fun!

CI #33 Round-Up
Hi all!
So many bright and cute cards this week, huh? I was super impressed. I really threw a curve ball at ya, but you took it in stride and there were a ton of submissions! :) Anyhow, here are my top ten picks...
Color Inspiration #33 ![]() Hi all! This week's Color Inspiration Challenge comes from my latest visit over to my local Target store. You'll have to excuse the poor quality of the photo--I took it with my cell phone! I was walking through the aisle with all the notebooks on it and saw this journal with about a million buttons on it and thought it was adorable! Anyway, the colors are above. There's actually some red in the photo, but I thought I'd narrow it down to just five colors. Six is bordering on too many colors to deal with, ya know? :) Just a quick clarification after the hot-linking entries last week. For these challenges, I encourage you to save the above graphic to your computer and then upload it on your blog if you'd like to. I am giving you all permission to use the graphic above. Feel free to use any of the challenge images. :)

CI #32 Round-up
It's pretty late here, and I'm heading off to bed, but I wanted to get the round-up for this week up before I post a new Color Inspiration Challenge tomorrow morning. So, here they are, and I know you'll enjoy them this week... :)
Color Inspiration #32 ![]() Good morning! It's early here and I'm running around getting ready to go out town for the Thanksgiving holiday. It will be so great to just spend time with family, ya know? :) Anyhow, this week's Color Inspiration Challenge comes to us from Crate and Barrel. They has some really beautiful Christmas stuff right now, and with it being exactly 1 month until Christmas (ahh!!), I thought I'd pick some Christmas-y colors. Hope you enjoy! This photo features their Oversized Lightbulb Ornament set. A note on the colors... I really wanted to put a metallic color in there. So if you have some sort of gold or silver something, you can substitute it for the Sahara Sand color. BTW, I moved the deadline out a bit longer than usual this week because of Thanksgiving. Ya'll have until Friday night. :)

CI #31 Round-up
Hi, all!
Seriously, I feel like a proud mama when I see all your creations--especially because I can see improvement from all of you from week to week! It's definitely getting harder and harder to choose my top picks! Keep it up--I can't wait for the day when I just have to put everyone in the round-up! :)
Color Inspiration #31 ![]() Good morning, friends! It's bright and early here--or not so bright (sun's not out yet), but definitely early--and I wanted to get this week's challenge posted so ya'll can start in on these yummy-licious colors! You'll recognize the photo from my post about this weekend. I love this little wreath that's on our door, and I hope you do too!
NOTE: Mr. Linky's was a bit wonky on Wednesday, so I extended the deadline. If you were unable to add a link earlier, please add one now. Thanks! Color Inspiration #30 Round-up
Oh. My. Word.
You guys really know how to stun a girl! I was excited to check my blog tonight and see about a bazillion submissions to the latest challenge! You guys are amazing! And all the cards look awesome, too! It was hard to narrow it down to just fifteen, so I went with twenty. ;) Enjoy! I sure did. ;)
Color Inspiration #30 ![]() Good morning, all! It's time for another Color Inspiration Challenge. :) This weeks challenge comes from Bed, Bath & Beyond. This duvet cover caught my eye and I absolutely loved the soothing colors--especially since we've had some intense color challenges as of late. :) Anyhow, enjoy! And just so you know, I had to delete about 10 links last week because they were not posted correctly. ONLY post links directly to your individual blog entry. NOT to your blog. For example, I would post for this entry "http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/1108/color_inspiration_30.html." Notice how long it is? I would NOT post "http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog." Those of you with Wordpress tend to have shorter entry URLs as well, but for the majority of you out there, you will have a LONG individual entry address. I will continue to delete links that are not correct. Even if you keep posting them over and over again. It's just easier for my readers to not have to scroll through all your blog entries to find the correct one. Please be considerate of others and follow the rules. Thank you. I'll now step off my soapbox. :)

Color Inspiration #29 Round-up
Hi everyone!
Here are my picks for the round-up this week. Just like you guys, sometimes I don't have time to do every challenge, but I for sure love to see what all of you create. :) So even though I don't have a card to share myself, I thought I'd point you in the direction of some awesome submissions this week. Enjoy!
Color Inspiration #29 ![]() Hi all! This week's Color Inspiration comes from H&M. I took this photo when I was in Las Vegas this fall. I absolutely love these intense colors! So cool looking! Anyway, it's a really different color palette so I'm excited to see what you guys come up with. Hopefully it will turn out as cool as it looks in the photo. :) HEADS UP! I have created a FAQ specifically for Color Inspiration Challenges. See it here. I have clarified some things and added a few rules. Please read it--even if you have participated in the challenges previously. Just read it this once. I'll let you know if I change anything later. :) What did I change starting with this CI29? Some of you are still linking directly to your blog and not to your specific blog entry. Unfortunately, if you do so I will not count your entry for consideration in the Round-Up anymore and your Mister Linky link will be deleted. So, please PLEASE remember to link directly to your creation--NOT to your main blog page. For more information on permalinks and why you should use them, go here.

MACM - Merry & Bright + CI 28 Round-Up This week's MACM doubles as my contribution to CI 28--even though I hardly used any Pumpkin Pie. I did squeeze it in there on the snowman's nose, but it a rather puny use of it don't you think? Forgive me, there just wasn't another place for it! LOL! Yes, I struggle with the color combos as much as you guys. :) Anyhow, I did quite a bit of watercoloring for this one. I don't mention it in the video, but I used watercolor paper. For those of you who are struggling with using a blender pen or watercoloring, you should really try it with watercolor paper. Because it can absorb more, it's much more forgiving and you can really build up color. So, here are my top fifteen for the color challenge, and below that, is the video. Enjoy!
Watch in high quality here (click on "watch in high quality" below the video). Supplies - Ruby Red and Sage Shadow card stock, Ruby Red, Sage Shadow, and Pumpkin Pie ink (Stampin' Up!); Let it Snow stamp set (Hero Arts); StazOn Jet Black ink; Polka Dot Basics stamp set (Papertrey Ink); watercolor paper.
Color Inspiration #28 ![]() This is a really different color challenge, eh? Sort of odd colors, but I really like them actually. :) This coin purse is from Anthropologie--a store that I love, if only for it's awesome patterns everywhere! Anyhow, let's jump into the technical details here... I've added Mister Linky to my site specifically for these color challenges. Mister Linky is software specifically designed for sharing links. See an example of it in use here. Hopefully, this will make it easier to share links to our creations. :) I'm re-instituting the round-up (it had a very short and minute death... it's since been revived). Only challenge submissions provided through Mister Linky will be eligible for the Round-Up, so be sure to try it out. :) More details are below as usual, with the Mister Linky stuff added in. So let's try this out! I'll close the link list on Thursday, October 30 at 7 pm MT.

Color Inspiration #27 Winner + my card ![]() Hi all! Here's the card I made for the challenge. I really wanted more of that big red flower on the patterned paper to show, but I didn't anticipate it being covered up... oh, well! I love it anyway! :) Using random.org, comment number 72 was selected. That means Lindsay's card was the winner! Congrats, Lindsay! Ya know what? I sort of miss going through everyone's entries and selecting my favorites. Katie mentioned Mister Linky, so I think I'll try that next week and see how it goes. That would save me a bit of time since I won't have to scroll through all the entries. Basically, it's a system that allows all of you guys to just enter in the links to your cards and then it generates a list (like this one--look at all the links she has! Wow!). I think that would be awesome! Hmm... lets do that. Okay, round-up is back, baby! Next week, it's all good. Back to little grids of photos, too. I miss those. :) Supplies - Kraft card stock, paper piercer and template (Stampin' Up!); satin ribbon, Birthday Basics set, Spring Moss card stock and ink (Papertrey Ink); patterned paper (SEI); dotted paper (Bazzill).
Color Inspiration #27
Hi all! Sorry for the silence the last couple of days. I've been swamped with projects for Two Peas and I just haven't had the chance to sit down and blog! It's been crazy!Anyhow, this week's color challenge comes from my favorite nail polish brand, Essie. I LOVE their nail polish and when I saw this picture of their fall collection, I just wanted to eat it all up! These reds and pinks are just awesome! I've always loved the color red. I even love it so much that when I was in college and I would take all my clothes to my apartment complex's laundry room, I would have two washers going at once... One for my colors, and the other for my reds. :) I had so much red clothing that I could wash them separately from the rest of my clothes! Anyway, if you want to participate in the challenge this week, create something that uses red as it's main color. It can be any red you want--even pink! HEADS UP! Unfortunately, I'm going to have to stop doing the Color Challenge round-ups. I'm still doing challenges each week, just not the round-ups. I still want to post the cards or pages I make using the colors, but I've been so busy lately that I realized that I wasn't even making the projects because I wasn't getting enough time to sit down and compile all the links for the round-up. I'm so sorry, guys! But please PLEASE keep posting your projects. I love to see what you're creating. It makes me feel a bit closer to all you blog buddies. :) And because of that, and just to make it a bit more fun, instead of round-ups, I'm going to be having little giveaways each week. The winner will be drawn randomly from those who submit projects to the challenge. This week's giveaway is... Red Cherry Lollipops Fabric Flowers from Prima! Aren't these the cutest!? And perfect for this week's red challenge. :) See details below to submitting your card/project for the giveaway.
Color Inspiration #26 ![]() Hi all! This week's Color Inspiration Challenge comes from Sur La Table. I bought some holiday cookie cutters from them last year and I've always remembered their creative cookie photos, so I thought I'd check out the latest. I'm not sure how long they've been selling these number cookie cutters, but the examples are sure cute! Anyhow, enjoy the colors! For those in the US and Canada, it's time to break out last year's Stampin' Up! In Colors--that Wild Wasabi was the perfect green for the photo. If you don't have Garden Green, you can substitute it with your favorite green. :) I can't wait to see what you do with them!
CI #25 Round-Up! So here are my top 21 picks from this week's entries. Lots of inventive ways to use the colors and so many are kids friendly--which is what I thought of while making this card. My card uses many of the new stamp ets I've acquired lately. I broke out the Cosmo Cricket stamp set I used a couple weeks ago for this MACM video, the Polka Dots Basic stamps I used for last week's MACM, and then another cute little set from Hero Arts that I've been meaning to use. This little froggie is actually from a Christmas stamp set, but I couldn't resist him. Isn't he SO cute?! Anyhow, here are the picks: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Supplies - Jack's World stamp set (Cosmo Cricket); Jolly Christmas stamp set (Hero Arts); Polka Dots Basics (Papertrey Ink); Ballet Blue, Certianly Celery, Ruby Red, and Whisper White card stock, Certainly celery and Ruby Red markers, paper piercer and template, Scallop Edge punch (Stampin' Up!); Coluzzle circle cutting system; Uni-ball signo gel pen.
Color Inspiration #25 ![]() Hi kids! Here's another Color Inspiration Challenge for ya... #25, can you believe it!? I can't believe I've posted 25 of these! Wow! Anyway, this week's picture comes from the pages of the latest Ikea catalog. Such fun colors! I can't wait to see what you all come up with. :)
CI #24 Round-Up ![]() ![]() Hi kids! Updating really fast since I'm in a hurry... Here's my card for CI Challenge #24. And here are my favorites. Sorry I don't have the images. Time got away from me and I didn't have a chance to crop all the images down. But I didn't want to make you guys wait any longer. BTW, I used numbers in the circles, but I didn't rank these at all. I just randomly linked up all of the ones I selected. Enjoy! When I have it this way (just the numbers) it's like a surprise every time you click on one! :) NOTE: My super card-making stamp-loving friend Jennifer McGuire located the stamp I used on this card over at the Hero Arts website. It is Bird on a Branch (click here to see it). AND! Great news! If you enter in the stamp number (from the side of the block) into the product search spot, that particular stamp will pop up! Awesome!

![]() Supplies: Bird on a Branch stamp (Hero Arts); Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla card stock, Chocolate Chip ink, ribbon, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive markers, paper piercer and template (Stampin' Up!).
Color Inspiration #24 ![]() Hi all! We're back at Color Inspiration Challenges and I hope you really like this one. :) I'm still obsessed with autumn colors, so when I saw these plates over at Pottery Barn, I just couldn't resist! Enjoy! And I can't wait to see what you all come up with. (As usual, you DO NOT have to use Stampin' Up! colors. Use whatever you have on hand. Also, for those outside the US and Canada who don't have Kiwi Kiss but do have Stampin' Up! colors, you can substitute Old Olive for Kiwi Kiss.)
Color Inspiration #23 Round-up
Hi all! Sorry for the delay in getting these posted.
I'm just quickly posting these while I watch Season 2 of Brothers & Sisters with Jen. Anyway, I decided at the last minute to just post all my favorites for this week. So, instead of just ten, I have fifteen. :) Enjoy!
MACM - Circle Window Card with Vellum ![]() I had so many questions about this card, I just had to make a video on it. :) I also decided to have it do double duty and I use this week's MACM as my Color Inspiration card. Such pretty autumn colors, right? :) I'll be back tonight to post the selections for this week's round-up. I have an eye appointment this morning so I don't have the time to the post them now. Forgive me! I also wanted to point you guys over the the Garden Girls blog over at TwoPeas. Today was my day to post a little something, so I have a few more cards over there. They use more of the AC Flair that I used for this month's card club, so now if you buy the flair, you'll have plenty of ideas on how to use them! :) Have a wonderful day and I'll catch you guys tonight! Watch in high quality here (click on "watch in high quality" below the video). Supplies: Say It With Scallops stamp set, Polka Dot background stamp, Chocolate Chip and So Saffron card stock, vellum, Winter White detail embossing powder, Old Olive wide grosgrain ribbon, Bravo Burgundy and Pumpkin Pie markers, and Scallop Sqaure punch (Stampin' Up!); VersaMark ink; Coluzzle.
Color Inspiration #23 ![]() Hi all! Time again for another Color Inspiration Challenge. Can you believe it? Don't you love these autumn colors? Granted, I know it's not autumn everywhere in the world, but here... I just love the colors around this time of year. :) Anyway, this photo comes from a flower arrangement over at Red Envelope, specific this one. So beautiful! I love it! So, enjoy another challenge using Bravo Burgundy and I'll catch you all when I'm home again with all my craft supplies.
CI #22 Round-up
Sorry, kids. No card from me this time. I packed SUPER light when I flew to visit my sister. So, alas, I am without a lot of my supplies. :) But enjoy the plethora of great entries below:
Color Inspiration #22 ![]() Hi all! Just a quick update from the Salt Lake City Airport! I'm waiting for my flight to board. :) This week's Color Challenge comes from PBTeen, in particular this shower curtain. Awesome colors! Enjoy!
Color Inspiration #21 Round-up Hi all! Just a quick card tonight for the Color Inspiration Challenge. I have to say, this was a hard color combo, wasn't it? I struggled for a bit. It truly was a challenge in every sense of the word. :) Anyhow, I was SUPER impressed with how many excellent entries there were this week! Usually, I have to narrow it down to ten from about 14 to 16 entries, but this week I had like 25 flagged! I could have had a whole separate runners-up category! Great job everyone! :) BTW, for those of you wondering if I've abandoned Stampin' Dimensionals for Scotch foam tape, don't be alarmed! I just ran out and had to use whatever I had on hand. Don't you worry, I ordered 6 more packs of dimensionals. Just using up the foam tape first. :) And on to this week's selections!
Color Inspiration #21 ![]() Hi all! This super quick ('cause I'm running out the door to go to work) Color Inspiration Challenge comes to us from Old Navy. Aren't these shoes cute?! For those without SU!'s new '08-'09 In Colors, don't fret! Simply replace the blue and green with Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive. Good luck! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with!
CI #20 Round-up ![]() Hi all! So many great entries to the Color Challenge this week. You guys did so well! :) As for my entry, I've been feeling the need to add some more pages to my 8x8 journal scrapbook. I haven't made a page in a long LONG time so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. Anyway, enjoy and here are the selections this week:
Summer 2008 - Stampin' Up! Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, and Pink Pirouette card stock, Regal Rose ink, School Days rubons, Simple Serif Mini Alphabet, Regal Rose marker; Scenic Route patterned paper arrow; Bazzill scalloped card stock.
Color Inspiration #20 ![]() Hi all! This week's color challenge comes from a tip I got over at the forums from Kelly. She suggested I take a look at these chairs over at Pottery Barn Kids. So cute! I realize that I included Pink Pirouette in the colors this week, which is a new In Color for those in the US and Canada. If you're in a different country, or don't have Stampin' Up! colors, remember that you don't have to use the exact colors I give you. Just something close. So, you could substitute the Pink Pirouette for a different color--perhaps Pretty in Pink. :) Anyhow, enjoy the challenge this week. I think they're fun colors that aren't too extremely challenging like the last few weeks have been.
CI #19 Round-up Eventually, I finally picked one of Stampin' Up!'s new In Colors for 2008-2009, Baja Breeze. I love this color so much! It's just such a soothing color. And if you've been paying attention to home décor as of late, I'm sure you've seen it everywhere! It's definitely a color that's a staff favorite at Stampin' Up!'s home office. We love it so much! From the numerous entries to the challenge this week, it looks like Baja is a color a lot of you love, too! :) Anyhow, here are the selections for this week. So many cards and SO many different color choices. You all did so well! I wish I could show all of your cards here. :)
Can't Thank You Enough - All supplies from Stampin' Up!: Say It With Scallops stamp set; Polka Dot background stamp; Basic Black, Baja Breeze and vellum card stock; VersaMark ink; Winter White Detail Embossing Powder; Scallop Square punch; Baja Breeze Striped grosgrain ribbon.
Color Inspiration #19 ![]() Hi all! This week's challenge comes by way of the Orange Beautiful blog and then an article in Chicago Home + Garden. I just love this photo. So peaceful, ya know? Anyhow, create your project this week using Basic Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White, and... a color of your choice! Just remember to glance at the photo. That fourth color is used very little. Let the black and white make a statement. There ya go! I can't wait to see what you all do! :)
Color Inspiration #18 ![]() Hi all! I'm back with another challenge, this from cb2.com. Thanks for all of you who sent me emails telling my about this Crate & Barrel off-shoot. Such as awesome store! I really want to go to one sometime. :) Anyway, I thought the bedding in this photo was awesome! I would love to be surrounded by all those bright colors, wouldn't you?! Oh, and just to explain the weird yellow-green thing above... I'm giving you the choice of using either Summer Sun OR Green Galore. Neither color was quite right, nor was Gable Green. So... you get to pick! :) Also, in order to keep the number of entries limited to an amount I can handle, I'm shortening the time given. So be quick if you want to be considered for the round-up. You only have until midnight tomorrow night (Thursday). Thanks for understanding what a large chunk of time it takes to look through all the submissions. :)
Color Inspiration #17 Round-up I think you guys broke a record this week with how many entries there were! My word! You guys really blew me away. I think I might have to tighten the deadlines on these in the future... It's taking me too long to get through all the submissions! :) Anyhow, for my card this week, I used a stamp set from Schlosser Designs that's really growing on me. There are so many little itty bitty stamps in the set! I'm sure I'll be breaking these out again soon. :) Don't you love the little dots in the center of the flowers. It's builder sets like these that are so fun! BTW, I got the different shades of Rose Red in the flowers by "stamping off." In other words, I just kept stamping without re-inking the stamp. So, enjoy all the cards this week. Since I'll be at the SU! Convention this week, there will not be a Color Challenge, but still check in as I'll be posting nightly about my day! :) Thanks, ya'll and I'll see you early tomorrow morning for the next Make a Card Monday!
Color Inspiration #17 ![]() Hi all! Here ya go! Another Color Inspiration Challenge for ya! Enjoy! This week's photo was found while I was just surfin' the net earlier today. I thought this dress was just gorgeous. I love vintage dresses, don't you? :)
CI #16 Round-up ![]() Thanks for waiting a bit longer than usual for the round-up. Sometimes the time just gets away from me, ya know? Before I knew it, I was editing this week's video and was all, "Oh, crap! I need to post the Color Challenge!" Believe it or not, I made this card before I started on MACM, but just got wrapped up in video editing before I could post it! So thanks for being patient. Hopefully it's worth it! :) I came across what many of you mentioned when you submitted your cards. Pumpkin Pie was particularly hard to tone down with this color combination. It's such a strong color that it often overpowers the colors around it. The way I worked with it was to make the Pumpkin Pie a smaller section of the card, or a part that could be broken apart (to give the illusion of less "weight" to it). Thin letters always do that because it breaks up the big block of color. So I used Pumpkin Pie for the letters. What do you think? Doesn't it balance out the strength of the Pumpkin Pie? And on to the 20!
Color Inspiration #16 ![]() Hi all! This week's color challenge comes from marthastewart.com, and these cute felt baby shoes. Aren't they adorable? I love them so much I want to make them! And the colors they used for the photograph? Hello? Adorable! Martha Stewart always has the most creative, cute, and crafty projects on her website. I just love to see new projects over there! Anyhow, have fun with these colors! NOTE: That's Very Vanilla up there, NOT Whisper White. :)
CI #15 Round-up + TIPS! ![]() Here's my card for the challenge this week. In order to get the punched circles just right, I used the same technique that I used in this video. Super easy and simple. :) I'll have you all notice the bow, please. I think I finally figured out how tie a good bow! Watch for a video soon. :) Okay, now HEADS UP! I'd like to give you all some tips on posting your Color Inspiration Challenge submissions. These are tips that will help me and you, so please use them: 1. If you're posting a link to your blog, PLEASE please link to the exact entry that has the card/creation on it. Often, when I go to your main blog page, you've added more entries so I have to scroll down a ways before I see your submission. This is just so I can get through the entries quicker. Often, you can get to the specific entry by clicking on the title of the entry, on "Permalink", or on the time it was posted. 2. It's come to my attention that if you try to include more than 1 link in the comment, it will sometimes flag the comment as spam and not post it. Please include only one link. 3. Please include the ENTIRE link/URL. For example, you need to have http:// in front of your link. This tells my blogging software to make it a link. Just select the entire web address in the address bar of your web browser and copy that into your comment. 4. RELOAD the entry page your commenting on after submitting comment. After you've posted your comment and it says that it's gone through, return to the entry page and hit refresh on your browser. There have been a lot of double posts, and I think it's because some of your browsers aren't recognizing the change in the page. A simple refresh/reload with show your comment. If it's still not there, go ahead and try commenting again. 5. You don't have to have a blog to submit a creation. There are plenty of free image galleries out there. If you want to keep your creation in a craft-friendly place, I suggest signing up with Splitcoaststampers.com. You can upload your images into your own gallery, receive comments from other papercrafters, and also submit a link to your creation to my Color Inspiration Challenges. You can view a tutorial on posting images to Splitcoast in this video. And that's it! :) Thanks for all your cooperation on this. On to the top ten submissions and randomly chosen ten!
Color Inspiration #15 ![]() Hi all! This week's Color Inspiration Challenge comes to us from West Elm. I just love West Elm! And I love this bedding! The colors are very autumn looking, and even though it's still summer here, I really was taken with these colors. So soothing. :) Anyhow, I can't wait to see what ya'll come up with!
Color Inspiration #14 Round-up
Thanks for all your submissions! You guys are getting better and better each week! I particularly loved the entries this week because they were so bold--just what I wanted! :)
Anyhow, I'm visiting family in sunny-hot-Hot-HOT Arizona this weekend, so I don't have a card for you. But I do have the top ten and ten randomly selected. Enjoy!
Color Inspiration #14 ![]() First off, I have to commend all of of you who guessed the musical artist of the song in my last video! You're all super smart. The song "To Love You More" gained popularity when Céline Dion included it on her 1997 album, Let's Talk About Love. However, I used the Lucia Micarelli version in my video. :) Thanks for all your guesses! This week's color inspiration is actually sort of a stretch. ;) After the brown and white monochromatic card in yesterday's video, I found myself still in a monochromatic mood. AND when I saw these t-shirts over at johnnycupcakes.com, I just knew I had to borrow them for the challenge this week. Aren't those the best shirts? I have one in brown that I wore at last year's Stampin' Up! convention in Denver and I love it! (BTW, I hate that photo of me... I was all tired and sweaty and not lookin' so hot... BUT I was having a ton of fun!) Anyway, I couldn't leave ya'll hangin' with just a couple colors, so I threw in some Ruby Red and River Rock. But feel free to eliminate them if you want. Just a couple options for you. I guess the main challenge this week is to create a high-contrast, bold creation. Just like the t-shirt, find a bold/sassy phrase and let it "scream" at us! Just have fun! I can't wait to see what you all create! :) Oh, and sorry for the quick deadline. I wanted to get it in before the holiday weekend. NOTE: I corrected the graphic above just a few minutes ago. I forgot to change the text to read "Whisper White" instead of "Going Gray," but it's correct now. If you used Going Gray before I corrected it, don't worry about it. For everyone else, Whisper White it is! Thanks, Savitri, for letting me know! :)
CI #13 Round-up, Blog Updates ![]() Sorry about dropping off the planet for a bit. :) I've been wanting to spruce up the blog here for a while so all my free time went to that. But, I got it where I want it so it should be free sailing for a hopefully a long time. Anyone who has a blog knows exactly what I mean--you're only content with how your blog looks for a short while and then BAM! You've got to change it up a bit. During the revamp of the blog (which really didn't change all that much), I added a couple new things. First, I think I eliminated a lot of the things that caused the pages to load slowly. I took out a lot of images and used text instead. Did you guys notice a difference in how fast the page loaded? I also added numbers next to all the comments. That mostly for me. In the past when I drew random comment numbers for give aways, I had to print out all the comments, and then pencil in the numbers. Now, the numbers are already there! :) Plus, if you guys want to reference each other's comments, just mention which number it was. And, this last thing will take a while to get up and running completely, but I'm adding technique tags to all the entries that have cards or scrapbook pages in them. For instance, on this entry I tagged the term "faux stitching." At the end of this entry, if you click on the faux stitching link, you'll see a list of all the entries that have faux stitching in them. Pretty sweet, eh? Like I sad, that one will take a while because I have to go through all 418 entries and manual type in all the tags. Just be patient. I'm working from the oldest entries and slowly making my way to current ones. Anyway, this is the card I made for Color Inspiration Challenge #13. I actually had this all sketched out on Thursday night, made it Friday night, and am now just getting around to posting it. It's been a crazy weekend! :) So enjoy the card, and be sure to take a look through all picks this week. Every week it's getting harder and harder to narrow the top ten down! You guys are truly amazing. :)
Color Inspiration #13 ![]() Hi all! This week's color inspiration was borrowed from Tracy Porter. Specifically, this is the Rosewater Bedding. Isn't that gorgeous? A special thanks goes out to one of the blog buddies, Amy, who alerted me to this site! Thanks, Amy! Anyhow, I've had a few questions about participating in the challenges each week, but one in particular keeps coming up. Heads up! You asked, "Do I have to use the specific colors?" No. If you have the Stampin' Up! colors it makes it a bit easier on your part, but if you don't have them, just use a similar color. Hope that clears things up! :) Anyway, here are the usual details...
Color Inspiration #12 Round-up ![]() (Make sure you click on each one of those words--they each go to a different card!) Seriously, I couldn't help but smile as I saw how similar some of your cards were to mine. We must have a cosmic connection! Anyhow, here are the ten I selected and the ten that were randomly picked. Such great submissions this week. Every week, you guys really step it up. :)
Color Inspiration #12 ![]() Hi all! This Color Inspiration Challenge photo was borrowed from a photo shared over at Design Sponge of some new items at the MoMA Store. Isn't that place mat so cool looking? Anyhow, have fun with this mostly neutral color palette. I added a some pop of green in there for a bit more color. All in all, I think ya'll could make some very sophisticated creations with these colors. Good luck!
Color Inspiration #11 Round-up ![]() This is going to be a super quick entry since I'm wrapping this up at nearly midnight. Man, I'm tired! Tonight we met at my brothers house to celebrate Father's Day, and the inaugural Werner Family Father's Day Tetris Tournament! Complete with brackets and everything. :) I lost my very first match (up against Ryan) but wasn't eliminated until two rounds later. It ended with a fight to the death (ha!) between my brother Ryan and my sister Anna. Ryan won, though. :) However--and that's a big HOWEVER--we played a sudden death match between just four players and I WON! WAHOO! Until next year, right? I'll be practicing! Anyhow, here are the selections for the latest Color Inspiration Challenge:
Color Inspiration #11 ![]() Hi all! This Color Inspiration Challenge (#11--can you believe it!?) was borrowed from Ikea. I {heart} Ikea! Such a cool and awesome store! :) I was so happy when Ikea finally came to Utah and opened a store last summer. People literally camped out on the sidewalk overnight to be the first customers inside! Can't you believe that? Crazy kids! :) Sadly, I have been to more Ikea stores outside of Utah (Minneapolis, holla!) than inside. I really need to go again. The last time I went to Ikea was nearly a year ago when I had lunch there with my Stampin' Up! Convention buddies (Hi girls!). We had yummy meatballs and mmm... okay... I think I'm going there for lunch tomorrow. :) Anyhow, Ikea always has great color inspiration. That's where this pictures came from and I love it! Just a note for all of you who are participating in the challenge: Notice the use of white--there's lots of it! Don't be afraid to be bold and use a lot of white.
Color Inspiration #10 Round-up ![]() The above card is for all you blog buddies! I've been such a slacker and I have left ya'll hangin' for SO long! You guys are too good to me--hangin' in there until I can squeak out some spare time in the middle of the night. :) I bought this little lamb-y stamp back in March when I was in New York. I bought it at Kate's Paperie--which, by the way! If you're ever in New York, you must go to Kate's! It's awesome! Anyhow, back on topic... Can you believe it's taken me this long to get around to using this adorable little lamb? I don't recall who the stamp is by... It was a name I've never heard of. I'll update ya'll with it later. :) My word, I need to clean out my stash more often! I've been unearthing all this incredible stuff that I forgot about! As soon as the room is all cleaned up, I'm sure I'll have plenty of inspiration. ;) And according to all your comments about my messy craft room, a lot of you have the same issue! Obviously, I'm still stuck on the circles-turned-into-scallops! I just can't stop using this little detail! I LOVE it! What about you guys? Have you tried it out yet? Okay, now on to the Color Inspiration Round-up!
Color Inspiration #10 Hi all! Just a quick Color Inspiration Challenge for ya'll to work on this weekend. :) This CI Challenge comes to us from Pottery Barn. These colors are so yummy and make me think of summer... swimming, backyard barbecues, etc. :) My card will be comin' at ya on Monday. :)
MACM - You're Simply the Best I wanted to try using the same circle punches technique to create a scallop border on a circle. I've seen these a little bit and wanted to create a card using it. This card is also my card for last week's Color Inspiration Challenge #9. Some of you mentioned that this was one of the harder challenges and I had to agree. Such strong colors! And five of them, as well! It was definitely a bit more difficult to work with these colors compared to some of the combinations of the past few weeks. :) Anyhow, I hope you all enjoy this one! Watch in high quality here (click on "watch in high quality" below the video).
Color Inspiration #9 ![]() Hi all! Before I forget, remember to check out the final part of my Questions & Answers video... I posted it right before I posted this entry. :) This week's CI Challenge comes to us from marthastewart.com. I was looking through the home decorating section and came upon this photo. :) As usual, I'll share my card with you all when I post the Round-Up on Friday night.
Color Inspiration #8 Round-up ![]() Anyhow, I put together the desk and the side table (for my printer) in about an hour. I rock! Actually, Target rocks. ;) I'm going to put together the bookcase tomorrow. Thanks you, economic stimulus check! So, I'm typing this entry while I sit at my new desk... It's so nice! I love it already! Enough about furniture! You're here for the round-up! Something to note about the bow on my card... I have no idea how I got it to tie so perfectly. The perfect bow technique still eludes me, so when I get a perfect bow, it's completely random and lucky. And so here are some of the card submitted this week...
Color Inspiration #8 ![]() Hi all! So here we are at the 8th Color Inspiration Challenge. Can you believe it?! This week's CI Challenge comes to us from Pier1. I found this particular picture in their room inspiration gallery. :) I'll share my card with you all when I post the Round-Up on Friday night.
Color Inspiration #7 Round-up
Hi all!
My fingertips and hands hurt and I'm developing bruises on my feet. Why, you ask? Because I put together my bed all by myself tonight. I was growing impatient waiting for my super-busy brother to come help me, so I dug in and did it myself. Sigh. My legs hurt. Do any of you know how hard it is to put together a four-poster bed all by yourself? Well, I do. And let me tell ya, it takes 2 hours. Yes, TWO HOURS! But I'll be sleepin' pretty tonight. And if the bed falls apart--forget it! I'm sleeping on the floor. Long story short, after two trips to Lowes (Worker: "You again? The screws didn't work?" Me: "Nope! I need the longer ones") and crawling around on my bedroom floor while I listen to audio from the ENTIRE Center Stage But that's okay because there are SO many awesome ones this week to pick from, right?! Behold, my top ten picks and the randomly selected:
Color Inspiration #7 ![]() Hi all! Can you believe we're at the 7th Color Inspiration Challenge? Wow! Time flies when you're having fun, eh? This week's CI Challenge comes to us from Restoration Hardware. Isn't that the most gorgeous bedding? LOVE it! I'm sure that all of you can come up with beautiful cards, pages, and other paper crafting items using this color combination as inspiration. For those who haven't joined us yet, feel free to jump in and share a card with us! As usual, I'll share my card with you all when I post the Round-Up on Thursday night.
Color Inspiration #6 Round-up ![]() As I mentioned before, my mom is moving to Arizona so we were packing up the house and getting her all ready to leave. Currently as I type this, the moving caravan should be pulling into my aunt's house in Phoenix where she'll be staying for a bit until she finds a permanent home. It was a sad morning saying our goodbyes before they left to drive to Arizona, but this will be such a good move for her. And I know she'll love living near her two sisters. :) I've lived with her for nearly a year and a half and she's the best "roommate" I've ever had. Even if I had to put up with needles sticking me in the foot (quilting on the couch in the front room) and threads traveling about the house attached to my pant legs. I'll definitely miss her. In fact, I just might miss those needles and threads. :) My friend Jen will be my new roommate, though. She's mad talented and also works at Stampin' Up! Talk about a fun time! She's a riot! Party at Jen and Kristina's! You're all invited! Anyhow, my craft area is still a disaster. But I managed to create this little card using this week's colors. Hopefully ya'll will like it. :) And here's this week's Round-Up. I had SO many entries this week and they were all excellent. You guys are making it REALLY hard to pick my top ten, let me tell ya! And I wish I had the time to respond to each and every comment/entry. So, on to the round-up:
Color Inspiration #6 ![]() Hi all! Above is the Color Inspiration Challenge #6! The photo this week is borrowed from Mystic Valley Traders. They have the most gorgeous bedding--I can hardly stand it! I want it all! Anyhow, I was particular drawn to these colors. Have fun with it! As usual, I'll share my card with you all when I post the Round-Up. TAKE NOTE: There is only a small amount of green used in the photo, so remember to keep the Wild Wasabi to a minimum. :)
Color Inspiration #5 Round-up ![]() Anyway, before we get to your submissions, here's the card I made. I wanted to create a super easy and simple card and this is what I came up with. :) Easily duplicated and I just love it! Just a couple things to note. The Soft Sky flower was created by punching out a die-cut flower from Stampin' Up!'s Die-Cut Blooms and then tracing the cut-out onto the Soft Sky card stock. Then I stamped it using the Dotted background stamp. You can't really see the dots too well, but believe me, they're there. :) Also, currently I'm a bit obsessed with these alpha stamps from Educational Insights. They're actually for elementary school kids! If you want to buy them as well, here's a link So, on to the submissions. I was so impressed with all the cards you guys made! So many beautiful cards that I had a tough time narrowing it down to my favorites. My first initial cut had 30 cards in it! AHH! So I had to whittle it down to ten. Of course, the first ten are included as well. However, if one of the first ten was included in the top ten or if the link provided didn't work, I didn't include it. Here ya go:
Color Inspiration #5
Hi all! It's time for another color inspiration! I hope you enjoy this one. :)
These pillows are from Pottery Barn and I just love the colors! So spring like! I just loved it! I am particularly drawn to the green and yellow--must be the hope that warm weather will come quicker! Anyhow, here's the inspiration photo and the Stampin' Up! colors are listed below that. ![]() Translated into Stampin' Up! colors: Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa I'll be sure to post my card using this color combination in this week's round-up. If you would like to be included in the Color Inspiration #5 Round-Up, get crackin'! This time, I'm going to include the first 10 posted, and also my top 10! So there will be a total of 20 cards in the round-up. I want to see your best work! You have two days to leave a comment on this entry with a link to your creation. Post your comment by 8:00 pm on Thursday. Please make sure to include the http:// in the address to your creation. That tells my blogging software to make it a link. Thanks!
Color Inspiration #4 Round-up ![]() Hi all! I used this week's Color Inspiration Challenge as a jumping off point for the cards for my monthly card club. So, these are the two cards we'll be making tomorrow night. For the first card, I weaved Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain and wrapped the edges around a 2x2 piece of card stock. I thought it looked so awesome! The idea occurred to me earlier today so I just had to try it. What do you think? And on to the first 25 cards left in the comments of yesterday's entry...
Color Inspiration #4
Hi all! Just a small update before we get to the Color Inspiration for this week. I went to the doctor yesterday and she suspects my leg is badly bruised, as opposed to having something broken. I just have a huge hematoma (about 5 inches long and 4 inches wide) just barely below my knee that will taken months to heal. :(
I didn't have much pain until the last few days, which is one of the reasons I wasn't too concerned about it while on the cruise. Apparently, there will be more pain as the blood drains down my leg because of gravity. It look like the bruise is growing instead of healing... oh well! Anyway, on with the Color Inspiration... This week's picture comes from West Elm... ![]() Translated into Stampin' Up! colors: Very Vanilla, Tempting Turquoise, Taken with Teal, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa I haven't had a chance to create a card for this combo, so I'll upload my card when I do the CI #4 Round-Up. Speaking of, if you want to be a part of the round-up, QUICK! Hurry! Go make a card! And then leave a link to your card within the comments for this entry. The first 25 cards submitted will be included in the round-up. :) BTW, you don't have to use all of the colors. The color combo is just a beginning. :)
Color Inspiration #3 Round-up
Okay, stop it. Stop it! There are just too many entries! I thought I was being all sneaky giving ya'll less time, but it didn't work! There are 48 this week! AHH!!
There won't be a CI Challenge next week (since I'll be out of town), but for sure the next week.
Color Inspiration #3 ![]() This week's CI Challenge comes from Pier1! I love Pier1 but unfortunately don't go there very often, even though there is a store very near my house. Tragic! Anyhow, I found this photo as their site in the inspiration section and just knew it would make an awesome color challenge for ya'll. TIP: Notice that the dark black color is used minimally. Remember that when you create your card this week. :)
Translated into Stampin' Up! colors: Orchid Opulence, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White So, here's my take on the colors this week: ![]() Once again, leave a link to your card in a comment on this entry. All cards left in the comments by 5:00 PM tomorrow will be included in this week's round-up! So get crackin'!
Color Inspiration #2 Round-up
WOW! 40 submissions for the Color Inspiration Challenge #2 before the deadline! You guys are amazing!
Once again, I'm linking to your cards. I think I'll have to shorten the deadline time next week--ya'll are too quick! Editing and posting 40 cards was way too much work! :)
Color Inspiration #2 ![]() Hi everyone! This week's Color Inspiration Challenge comes from HGTV.com! I found a interesting and soothing room at their website and fell in love with the colors! Perfect colors for a baby card, right? ![]() Translated into Stampin' Up! colors, it might look like: Groovy Guava, Blush Blossom, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi Unfortunately, this color palette uses two SU! In Colors... sorry all you international folks. Forgive me, please! Do the best you can with colors you have on hand. You might try Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, and Certainly Celery. Here's my card (4.25" x 4.25"): ![]() Join me in the challenge by making a paper craft creation using these colors as inspiration. Then leave a comment on this entry with a link to your card. You'll have to upload a picture of your card to your blog, splitcoaststampers.com, flickr.com, wherever you'd like. Just copy and paste the web address to your card in your comment. Links left in comments by 6:00 pm MDT Thursday night will be included in the Color Inspiration #2 Round-up! So get workin'!
Happy Birthday, Venessa! ![]() Birthdays are celebrated in various way at my office. One of the things that's practically mandatory is a card for the person having a birthday (sort of a given when you work at a scrapbooking/paper crafting company). Anyhow, we're celebrating Venessa's birthday today! Patti decorated her cubicle, I made the card, Jen was on gift-patrol, and Lauren not only made the donut cake, but she was the director of Mission Impossible: Venessa's Birthday--complete with a white board covered in X's and O's like a football playbook and dum-dum-da-da-dum-dum musical beats in the background. :) Venessa's the newest addition to our team so we were super secretive to plan her birthday cubicle surprise! ![]() Venessa LOVES bright blues and greens, so this color combination was perfect for her. Granted, it's a more difficult combination, but I think I pulled off this analogous color scheme (colors next to each other on the color wheel) pretty well . Taken With Teal, Tempting Turquoise, Glorious Green, Green Galore, Yoyo Yellow NOTE: This isn't a Color Inspiration Challenge. I just thought the colors looked cool. :) ![]()
Color Inspiration #1 Round-up
Hi all! I had so many responses to my first color challenge. Here are all of my reader's cards as of when I write this entry. Enjoy!
NOTE: These are not my cards, so I'm pointing you in the direction of each card's creator by linking each image back to the link they provided in their comment.
Color Inspiration #1 ![]() Hi all! I want to try something new around here. How about some color combinations, eh? I love to see different color combinations and I get a lot of inspiration from photos of interiors. Interior design magazines, blogs, and books are an endless source of interesting color combinations. Today's color inspiration comes from Marie Clair Maison via Design Sponge. Granted, I can't read a thing on her website (help!), but the photos and interiors on the site are amazing! ![]() This combo is so... so girly! I love it! Anyhow, if you convert the colors in the photo to Stampin' Up! colors (or any other company's card stock colors), you might get: Chocolate Chip, Purely Pomegranate, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink So, I took that color combo and made a card using the same colors. However, I was completely out of Chocolate Chip card stock (Gasp! Tragic!) so I used some of my Bazzill Bling card stock that's been hanging around. :) EDITED TO ADD: Oh! I forgot! These Color Inspiration posts are going to be challenges for ya'll. Make a card or scrapbook page using the color combo and then leave a link in the comments. I want to see what you make! :) ![]()
