MACM - Love You!

011209-macm.jpg

Whoa, Nelly!

You ready for a very different Make a Card Monday? This video is all sorts of weird. I almost didn't upload it the way it is, but Jen thought it was funny. Curse that Jen! :)

I must apologize if you find it boring. Oh, and you might want to have your sound turned up so you can... hear everything. Yeah, hear everything. :)

Thanks for watching! (Normal quality video for slower connections can be found here).

Supplies - Kraft and Baja Breeze card stock, scallop edge punch, Baja Breeze button, paper piercer, and Chocolate Chip marker (Stampin' Up!); Poolside/Greenhouse 6x6 paper pad (Making Memories); Uni-ball Signo gel pen.

-----------

Oh yeah! The giveaways this week are going to start tomorrow. :)

Hey K-Dud (clackity-clack)

I just wanted to say how much fun you are to have as a roommie, (clackity-clackity-clackity-clack) & I think this is one of the BEST MACM! (clackity-clack-clack-clackity) Mainly because (clackity)...wait...(clack) Can you tell what I'm saying? (clackity-clack-clack) Sometimes it's hard to decipher with all this clicking & clacking (clickity-clack-clickity-clickity-clickity-clack).

sigh...(click) I so need a new keyboard (clickity-clack)

Hi Kristina! (and Jen!)

For what it's worth - I liked the video, I thought it was funny. And I liked seeing that sometimes it takes you a minute to figure out what the perfect final touch is for a card - I do that too although it takes me much longer and lots of different tries, which means making a card takes me a long time! I'm trying to get better though, and your cards are a great source of inspiration. Thanks!!

Angie:

I'm just glad you didn't cut off a finger or something on your trimmer...we don't usually hear that sound and I thought with the "hear everything" notation that something bad was going to happen! Neurotic, or what??? Great card in the end!

I really liked this card and the "real time" video. Makes me feel good to know I'm not the only one who sits there and thinks... "this needs something... " :) I know you've told us you do this as well before, but still it's nice to see in action. Love the colors on this card! Have a good week.

I love it. The card turned out fantastic, and I really enjoyed see ing that you are human after all and go through the same process that I do. The hemming and hawing and not being sure if you are done is how I make a card, I always thought that you had your whole plan in place before ever touching the paper cutter!

Thanks for posting this even though you had your doubts! I sat down to watch it after struggling to finish a card which had started out great - or so I though... It was reassuring to see how I'm not alone when digging deep for inspiration. And I really like the uncluttered look of the card even though it has a lot going on.

What a great way to start off a Monday. I always look forward to seeing MACM and this video was so much fun to watch. It's nice to know you too have those "moments" when you just stare at what you've created and wonder "What does this still need?". Enjoyed all the added 'background' noises and coversation. Just wondering what Jen's card looks like?!?!

Eileen:

I loved your video today. It made me a candaitate for Sainthood - I watched it all the way through, all the while thinking that you sometimes don't know what you want to do to finish a card either. I never thought you ever had to think about what you do - you just do it - and quickly - and perfectly.

The added background sound effects were fun, too!

Wouldn't miss you MACM fro anything. It starts my week off great! Thanks for sharing it all with us.

Melanie:

Sometimes we just have one of those days... :) My real time video would be full of my 1 yo daughter saying "Up!" to sit on my lap to help, one of my cats jumping up and promptly flopping down on top of my work, all the while the melodious tunes of the "Backyardigans" playing in the background...seriously, my craft space needs a door!

The final choice on the strips worked out great, kept things really simple. It turned out great and I loved the non-tradional colors for a Valentine's Day/Romance card!

Hey girls, Loved the video. This is what it is all about, right! Having fun. Actually you must be getting ready for your trip to Disney World. That is why you are so happy. Seriously, I really liked the card. Watching a genius is OK, but watching a human with genus idea's is much better! Have a great day and thanks for the card!

I have to say...this is one of my FAV videos you've made...and for a few reasons.
1. I LOVE the cricket sound effects ..so funny bc it caught me of guard I laughed SO hard :)
2. It's great to see that even a card genius like yourself has struggles to complete a card....it makes me feel better :)
3. I LOVE the finished product...I'm drawn to geometric shapes.
4. that's enough of my reasons...I just love your stuff

Have a FABULOUS day !!

Funny video...I stayed and watched the entire thing!

I did have a question for you...what paper cutter/trimmer do you use? It sounds quite industrial (and you always have such sharp edges.) I'm looking to get a better one.
Thanks for the great MACM!

Cute card-although if I'd made it I probably would have thrown it in my 'don't know what, but it needs something' pile. Glad to see you have the same issues as the rest of us mere mortal card makers! Great end result though. Loved the uncut video-no way, not too long... isn't it amazing how those crickets show up at just the right time! LOL!! Thanks for some more wonderful inspiration x

I feel like I'm watching the Kwerner Reality Show and it's great! :-)))

As for me, I find hard to fill in with words while I'm making a card video, because I end up saying exactly what I'm doing ( "Now I am applying glue...") and the images are more than enough. But I love your tips! These really help.

That was like "30 Minute cards"... except shorter... and you certainly don't talk as much as Rachel Ray. I think the scariest part of the whole video was the sound of the guillotine in the back... I mean you paper cutter. : )

Hi Kristina

MACM is the highlight of my week - does that make me a big sad. What I like about your blog is that when I come over and have a look at it you have always done something lovely and there is always something to read or look at. I loved this particular make a card Monday - whilst we all kind of know the real you it was great to get an even bigger insight into who you really are. You sound like you have a lot of fun with your room mate Jen.

Thanks for sharing so much with us Kristina

Hello,

I have the strangest question :-)

I am not always using my big cutting mat (if I need to just do something and not like work on a card or something...) and then I feel that it would be nice to have a small Self-Healing Cutting Mat...but how small that is the question :-)). I have noticed in on of your videos (I think :-)) that you used a small cutting mat. Can you please tell me it's measures ? and if it convenient.

Thanks

I liked this video. I cracked up at the on-screen comments, and the crickets were hilarious. I also liked that this was more "real time" and that it showed that you struggle with making cards, too. I mean, it helps to know that even the pros get a little creative block, and that you can come through it -- for me it might take more than 5 minutes! :-) Love your videos...thank you so much for the service you provide to the crafting community, whether it's MACM, Finally Friday, the color challenges.... I come to your blog to find blogs of people who've submitted for the color challenges to get inspiration for myself. (Whew...that was long...hope it made sense.)

Thanks for making me smile with your video this week. It is good to know that there are times when even you look at something and say - hmm.. missing something. I do that all the time and just thought I was lousy at making cards! of course, I'm not always successful at figuring out what to add and your cards are always fantastic and so very inspirational.

Thanks for sharing your talent and letting us see your non-superhero-card-making side! :-)

1. Crickets too funny
2. Thought it was hailing at your place
3. Tell Jen deduct cost of new keyboard on taxes and buy one
4. Please, stream of consciousness - why string instead of ribbon? What ideas did you consider in the five (edited) minutes and discard and why? Why did adding color work? Why add 2 strips? Why narrow? Inquiring minds want to know!

Thanks so much for all your hard work - I'm very grateful for your videos and talent!

Cute card & loved the commentary! I laughed out loud. Plus, a little envious...it's always more fun to stamp w/a buddy! You two sound like you have so much fun! TFS!

This was a great video. I agree with most everyone that its great to see your genius at work. We know how real you are. We all struggle for ideas and knowing you do also makes us feel ok. I love the card and the video.
