MACM - Bright Valentine's Cards

010509_macm.jpg

Good morning, everyone!

I filmed this week's Make a Card Monday video early yesterday morning, but didn't like one of the cards. I meant to re-film it and modify the card, but just didn't get around to it. So, you're gettin' the absolutely real stuff! LOL!

I'm still in love with the bright colors in American's Crafts Teen papers. So fun! And I love that they have a paper with just hearts on it. It was begging to be cut up and individual hearts used on separate cards, don't you think? Love it!

This is also one of the first videos I've filmed with my new Canon Vixia HF10 camcorder (the real first one was for TwoPeas and won't go live until the 15th). I LOVE THIS CAMERA SO MUCH! It takes amazing HD video and it's so much easier to edit because I don't have to constantly render it in Final Cut! (Although that might be because I've learned a whole lot more about FC recently).

And... I didn't have any color issues. Hallelujah! There were spots when it was a bit bright, but I figure that's so much better than all the dark areas and color shifting that happened with my Flip Mino HD. So much better. I still love my Flip Mino HD, just not for this type of filming. What do you all think? Better? :)

Anyhow, enjoy the cards this week. Hopefully I'll be back later tonight with the latest Color Inspiration round-up. Until then, happy Monday!

As usual, you see watch the normal quality (easier on slower connections) over at YouTube. :)

Supplies - Basic Black card stock and corner rounder punch (Stampin' Up!); Teen patterned papers and BFF ribbon (American Crafts).

I'm home sick and just wanted to thank you for making me smile today!!! I really did like the 2nd card and appreciated you keepin' it real and sharing it with us even though you had reservations about it. I also enjoyed your voiceover explaining the reasons why you didn't like it.

I'm going to get started on my Valentines today since I only have 5 weeks left (that's the part of the video that made me laugh the most)!

Sarah Jane:

YOU and Cathy Zielske are 2 of my biggest scrapbooking/papercrafting idols!

She, too, posted about Weight Watchers and her quest for a healthy lifestyle. You may want to check her blog out (if you don't do so already): http://cathyzielske.typepad.com/

I believe I heard about CZ via your blog... because you LOVED her books. (After checking them out, per your recommendation, I did too!)

Best of luck! May you reach your goal(s)! Reach for the stars!

These cards came out really nice! They're so funky and hip! hahaha! The ribbon is what i really really love about them.
Your so right Kristina, 5 more weeks. I just got down working a 3 day-12hr shift from the hospital. So I'm off 2 days.......better get on those cards STAT! LOL!

Have a super, duper, sweet Monday!!

I love the colors in these cards. Your videos are so helpful as they really show me how easy this can be... it seems I am always agonizing over how to put everything together!

By the way, you didn't care for your second card, but I thought it was charming.

Tracy:

Cute cards this week. I liked them both, but thought with the second one since you didn't like it that maybe you could have cut a small strip of red cardstock and covered up your row of hearts, maybe used a Happy Valentines stamp or something on it. Just a suggestion. :)

Cute cards :) Even though you didn't like how the second one turned out, it's still cute IMO.

Anyway, just wanted to share a card I made with your first card as inspiration.

Sue :

Hi, I loved both of your cards, love all your videos, always an inspiration to me, I was wondering about the mat you did your projects on...I use the stampin'up grid paper but the mat you used would probably be more useful and economical. Just wondering who it is made by? Thanks in advance, and I, as usual, will be looking forward to more of your great cards and ideas!! Have a great day!

I loved both! I think the hearts not being even, gave it the funky look even more. Thank you for sharing, as always. :)
