Amy:

If you were to make that with ground white meat turkey it would still be delish but have a LOT less fat and calories... I switched from ground beef to turkey awhile ago and all my recipes still taste great.

Good luck girls!

I have a magic bullet that is similar, it's also awesome for making home made pesto, dressings and just about anything else that can be pureed (and as you discovered, smoothies). I have a great recipe for cilantro lime rice that requires pureeing. The rice is really good with any sort of curry dish!

Anyway, don't throw it out! It's crazy useful!

Looks like you guys have a lot of fun. When I make chili, I use unsalted canned tomatoes (?) That's one way of cutting out hidden salt.

I must say...you two are hysterical!! But...the mom in me wants to tell you how to cook...sorry! Add the onion first and cook till see-thru. Add ground turkey (better for you and you cant tell the diff). Add diced tomatoes with juice to make it a little less thick (unless thats how you like it). Also, cumin taste good as well as fresh cilantro. To serve, you could add fat free chedder cheese and a little fat free sour cream. Enjoy watching so much. Keep up the good work!!
:O)

Another little tip- rinse the kidney beans (and then drain) to get rid of excess sodium left on the beans by the brine they are canned in. Still taste the same, only it cuts out on some of the extra sodium.

Loved the chili video! I'm sure it tasted great!

If you're trying to get more vegetables/vitamins you can put a can of crushed tomatos in instead of the tomato soup. Also I tend to grate onion in if I don't want big pieces - could be something to try.

And instead of chili powder I sometimes use taco seasoning as I keep a jar of it in the house always.

You are all doing so great!!

Wendie Waldman:

Make that ground turkey breast, not just ground turkey. Ground turkey has about as much fat and calories as lower fat ground beef.

Your videos bring back a lot of good memories of cooking meals with my roomates years ago. I'm doing WW's with you and your friends. I was so excited the other day when I saw your videos. I've lost 4 lbs so far and you inspire me to keep going and to track (this is where I fall down on the program). Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Y'all are too funny! I too use ground turkey in place of ground beef. You can't tell a difference and it is definitely healthier.

Becki Flanagan:

Once again I enjoyed watching your update videos and want to encourage you to keep up the great work! Even with the setbacks - keep going. The smallest changes that you can make permanent make a HUGE difference in the long run. It's also easier to incorporate one change at a time - Jen has it right to change one thing, make it a habit, then incorporate another change. Kristina has found one of the keys to higher metabolism: fuel the machine. If you don't give your body the fuel it needs to function, it gets stingy and won't give up the excess weight. Stay on that point target!

I also have a great tip for dining out: go on line (if you know where you plan to go beforehand) and view the menu. Decide on a healthy choice before you even get there. It's a method that fits in with planning what you eat and eating what you planned. That way you're not tempted by what else you see on the menu when you get there or by what other people order. Stick to your choice, and even ask for special prep or substitutions, like double vegetables and no starchy side, or sauce/dressings on the side. Load up on veggies, eat half your entree and take the rest home for lunch the next day. Trust me, you will have plenty to eat. Here's another great resource for restaurant nutritional info, even gives WW points:

http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html

And in addition to using ground turkey in the chili and adding tomatoes, add some chopped green pepper, V8 juice, some fresh ground pepper, cumin, oregano, and thyme. Also when I use ground turkey I cook it first, drain it, cook the rest of the chili ingredients together, then add the turkey at the end. If you cook the turkey with the chili, the turkey which is already soft will be extra mushy.

Just a few tips - hope you're reading this and find it helpful! WOOT! Way to go girls!

I have the Magic Bullet as well, and it takes some "playing". I can chop onions in it now, but you have to only do a few at a time and just pulse it. What I use it for most is scrambling eggs for my kids. It whips them up really nice! The other thing I use it for is "mushing" my banana's for banana bread. Sweet! Keep up the good work!

Lori J.:

Kristina and Jen,
I make a chili that I call 3-2-1 Chili It is in larger quantities, because I have a larger family, but. Here are a few suggestions . . .

1. Use tomato sauce instead of Campbell's soup. There is 390 mg of sodium per serving vs 710 mg in the soup and 2grams of sugar vs. 12 grams in the soup

2. As mentioned by a few people previously, use stewed tomatoes - there is an "Italian" flavored one that is great. You get more vegetables and flavoring as well. I chop or mash up the tomatoes, so they aren't so "in your face".

3. Again as suggested before make sure to rinse your beans to get rid of any extra sodium.

Sodium (salt) can be a huge problem and is in everything.

Keep up the good work! You guys are my heros. Also there is a website called Dee-Dee's Weight Watcher recipes, which are recipes I think she made up herself using Weight Watcher ideas that she has learned over the years. . . .

Cheryl:

Another thing to watch for....

It's crazy, but your canned veggies are now being flavored with sugar. Yes, they are adding sugar to corn, peas, beans. Check your ingredients to make sure you find the ones without the added sugar. I have a hard time finding kidney beans without sugar anymore.
