Hi everyone!
Just a quick update so you know I won't be updating very often this week. I'm in California for a few days for work, and then I'll finish out the week at Disneyland. :) Sorry there wasn't a MACM video this morning. There won't be a Finally Friday this week, either, but I'll be back next week in full swing. :) Hope you have a wonderful week! :)
Finally Friday Video - Glitter Heart
Good morning, all! This week's card was inspired by American Crafts Details Embellishments. I love their little accents and I wondered if there was a way to sort of make something similar. So that was the jumping off point. :) As usual, you can see the video in higher quality over at YouTube. NOTE: There will not be a Finally Friday next week. I'll be back with a new card and video on February 6. :)
kwernerdesign cards on Etsy! ![]() Have ya'll been introduced to Etsy? It's a store to sell handmade and handcrafted items. After working some kinks out, I'm going to start selling my cards on Etsy! :) For now, it's a small and meager beginning with just some 3x3 Valentine's Day cards (sold in sets of 5--I have 10 sets for sale now), but the plan is to eventually sell the cards I make each week for my videos. So watch for that coming up soon. :) So, hop on over to Etsy and check out my shop! (EDIT: Whoa! All 10 sets just sold. So, no for sale items on my shop page. But you can see the sold items here). BTW, leave me a comment with your favorite Etsy shops. I want to check out what you guys are loving, too!
Giveaway Winners!
Wow! What a response!
Here are the winners. I just took the first number generated by random.org for the first winner, the second for the second winner, etc. :) I'll be in contact with each of the winners via email. Thanks for participating, everyone! ![]() Prize package winner #1:

Color Inspiration #39 ![]() Hi all! First of all, I have to apologize for not having a round-up for last week's challenge. It's been a super crazy week. Between planning ahead at work (since I'll be out of the office for a week) and at home (filming double MACM and Finally Friday videos for while I'm gone), I've been a bit occupied. Please forgive me! I have looked through them and I've been super impressed. For this week, though, here are the colors courtesy of a photo I took nearly four years ago while I was on a trip to New York City with my college. Great bright colors! I hope you enjoy! Oh, and Green Galore is SUPER bright, so feel free to pick another green if you'd like. It's just the closest green to the photo. Extra credit to all of you who use Green Galore. :)

3 Different Giveaways!
Okay, we've got three different giveaways this week. :)
The first one is... ![]()

Three winners will be randomly chosen using random.org and will receive only one of the prizes. You have until tomorrow night (Thursday) at 7:00 pm MT. I cut it short because I leave for Disneyland on Saturday and I need to mail out the prizes before I go. :) Good luck! Your comment MUST be on this entry only (click on "permalink" below and scroll to the very bottom to comment). If you are having problems commenting, please keep trying. I think the problems we had last week are the result of my blogging software. I'm currently looking into other options, but for now, please be patient. :) COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED!

Finally Friday Video - Love
Happy Friday, all! This week's card is another Valentine's Day card. I'm trying to get all my Valentines done and ready to send out to friends and family. Are you? :) Anyhow, check out the main page over at TwoPeas for more details and supplies, and as usual you can see the video over at YouTube as well.
TwoPeas Class: Jan. 2009, A Year in Cards Hi all! Each month throughout 2009, I'll be hosting a class over at TwoPeas. The theme is "A Year in Cards." The class for each month goes live on the 15th, so that means today is the first class! The class description is: "A year long class where not only will you create three new seasonal cards each month, but you'll also rejuvenate your basic cardmaking skills, learn new design tips for creating interesting cards, and put away a nice stash of cards to use for every occasion." Anyway, here's January's class. And also, here's the message board thread where we'll be discussing anything and everything. Oh, and be sure to do your "homework" and upload a card to the TwoPeas gallery. Each time you do, you'll be entered into a prize drawing. More details are on the message board. Happy crafting! Color Inspiration #38 ![]() Hi all! This week's Color Inspiration Challenge comes from Nicole's desk at work. This is her Thomas Paul mousepad notepad (see it over here at seejanework.com). Isn't it cool? She had a ton of notes taken on the notepad, so she kindly ripped off the top sheet for me to take a photo. And believe me, the colors are way off in the photo. The red color actually is a Ruby Red-like color. My little iPhone doesn't take very good photos in low light, the poor thing. :( Anyhow, join in and create something! Just follow the directions below. :)

CI #37 Round-Up
Holy crap, Batman! Did ya all eat some happy crafting pills last week?! Holy CRAP! There were so many entries for the Color Inspiration Challenge #37. And there were about a million of them, and ALL of them were fantastic!
Not only were the cards great, but you all are taking better and better photographs of your work! I've really noticed, and I'm sure everyone else has, too! It's so great to see your wonderful work in a nice, clear photo. I'm telling you, it makes such a difference. :) So, here are the top 25. Yes, TWENTY-FIVE! I couldn't believe it! Enjoy! I know I did. :)
Valentine's Day Stuff Giveaway!
Hey you.
Yes, you. :) Leave a comment telling me what you remember about Valentine's Day as a child. If your comment is randomly chosen you get the goods:
![]() Only one comment per person, please. :) Comments will close at 7:00 PM Friday, January 16, 2008. Good luck!
MACM - Love You! Whoa, Nelly! You ready for a very different Make a Card Monday? This video is all sorts of weird. I almost didn't upload it the way it is, but Jen thought it was funny. Curse that Jen! :) I must apologize if you find it boring. Oh, and you might want to have your sound turned up so you can... hear everything. Yeah, hear everything. :) Thanks for watching! (Normal quality video for slower connections can be found here). Supplies - Kraft and Baja Breeze card stock, scallop edge punch, Baja Breeze button, paper piercer, and Chocolate Chip marker (Stampin' Up!); Poolside/Greenhouse 6x6 paper pad (Making Memories); Uni-ball Signo gel pen. ----------- Oh yeah! The giveaways this week are going to start tomorrow. :)
Virtual Card Club - February 2009 ![]() Hi all! This month's Virtual Card Club is going up a bit early because I'll be out of town during the last week of the month (Disneyland, baby!). Anyway, for my in-real-life card club, we're making a standard-sized card with coordinating envelope, and a 3x3 card. So, those are the projects in February's Virtual Card Club PDF. I sort of explain this in the PDF, but I used all Stampin' Up! product for this month's projects. This came about for two reasons. First, SU! has a promo going on right now involving some yummy-Valentines-licious paper that my good friend and co-worker Lauren designed. It's so cute that I had to use it! (The SU! promo consists of Candy Lane patterned paper, Love You Much stamp set, and a three heart punch. But I didn't use the punch on these projects. I think the promo is that you get 20% off the bundle until the end of January. Check it out at stampinup.com) And the second reason is because my favorite envelopes are from SU! and I wanted to show how to make a coordinating envelope with patterned paper lining. The 8 page PDF includes:

Finally Friday - Heart Tree Good morning, all! This week's card comes from the super cute stamp set Love Grows from Autumn Leaves. Isn't it so cute? Anyhow, the hearts on the tree were the perfect match for the We Are Family Accents from Heidi Grace! I couldn't resist putting them on top. :) Enjoy the video, and as usual, it's available over at YouTube in normal quality (easier on slower internet connections). Oh, and just a reminder that the Color Inspiration deadline is tomorrow night. You have a bit more time to create something. :)
Five Phat Friends - Episode 1: Introductions & Goals
Here's the first episode of Five Phat Friends! :)
Color Inspiration #37
This week's Color Inspiration Challenge comes from some pencils I saw on Robyn's desk at work. Aren't they cute? She got them from seejanework.com and when I saw them I knew they'd be perfect for a color challenge. Anyhow, since I was SUPER busy this week and didn't get the challenge up at the usual time, I'm extending the deadline by a couple days. Hopefully that will give ya'll enough time to play. :) Have fun!

CI #36 Round-Up
Wow, I am completely overwhelmed with amount of Color Inspiration Challenge submissions this week. Seriously, it amazes me each week how many of you use my little color challenges to create something you're so proud of--and you should be proud because I see such growth in all of you. You are spectacular, creative, amazing, inspiring, and motivating. :)
And I just wanted to say thank you for all you guys do for me every day. You all are so supportive and I so appreciate you spending the time to check in on my little corner of the web. Isn't it great that we can come together over something as little as cards? But, I'm sure you know it's more than that. It's about friendship and making handmade items to share with friends. And then you jump online to share with others as well, and then we can become friends over a common interest... paper. :) Anyhow, keep it up each week, girls! These color challenges are not just to help you get a jumping off point to create something you enjoy. View it as an opportunity to grow and be creative. And each week I'm so amazed at all the things you create. So here are this week's top 15. Everyone did so great. These are just a few of the awesome things that were created using the colors:
MACM - Bright Valentine's Cards ![]() Good morning, everyone! I filmed this week's Make a Card Monday video early yesterday morning, but didn't like one of the cards. I meant to re-film it and modify the card, but just didn't get around to it. So, you're gettin' the absolutely real stuff! LOL! I'm still in love with the bright colors in American's Crafts Teen papers. So fun! And I love that they have a paper with just hearts on it. It was begging to be cut up and individual hearts used on separate cards, don't you think? Love it! This is also one of the first videos I've filmed with my new Canon Vixia HF10 camcorder (the real first one was for TwoPeas and won't go live until the 15th). I LOVE THIS CAMERA SO MUCH! It takes amazing HD video and it's so much easier to edit because I don't have to constantly render it in Final Cut! (Although that might be because I've learned a whole lot more about FC recently). And... I didn't have any color issues. Hallelujah! There were spots when it was a bit bright, but I figure that's so much better than all the dark areas and color shifting that happened with my Flip Mino HD. So much better. I still love my Flip Mino HD, just not for this type of filming. What do you all think? Better? :) Anyhow, enjoy the cards this week. Hopefully I'll be back later tonight with the latest Color Inspiration round-up. Until then, happy Monday! As usual, you see watch the normal quality (easier on slower connections) over at YouTube. :) Supplies - Basic Black card stock and corner rounder punch (Stampin' Up!); Teen patterned papers and BFF ribbon (American Crafts).
On resolutions and new projects
What am I doing taking on another project? Am I crazy? :)
Actually, this is a project that I hope really takes off and can become a source of motivation and strength for not only me, but my four friends that are going on the journey with me. Go ahead, call us crazy, but we're banding together and documenting our year-long journeys to better health in video form. We started out on Wednesday, New Years Eve, by setting up a camera and just talking about what we want the new year to bring. We said out loud what our goals are and we're hoping that by giving a voice to them, it will help us be that much stronger in taking personal steps in a successful direction. We don't have the first episode up yet (have to film a bit to get some, right?), but here's a little taste of what we're doing, and I think it's great and brave and worth watching. And I'm so thrilled and humbled that these girls would allow me to handle their personal stories. Talk about trust. :) BTW, when Jen saw the trailer below, she was all, "Wow! It's like we're on Oprah or something!" It's called creative editing, and it was so much fun putting together. ;)
Finally Friday - Dry Embossed Frame ![]() copyright Two Peas in a Bucket Good morning! This week's Finally Friday video came about from a couple requests to show how to create a dry embossed frame (as seen on this pink card). There are some products from companies out there that will create embossed frames, but how do you create one on your own using product you already have on hand? Watch the video to find out! :) Be sure to check out the full description and photo over at the Designer Garden. Also, the video below is in high quality, but if you prefer the normal version (easier on slower connections), head on over to YouTube.
Happy New Year! + 2 pages
Happy New Year, everyone! I wish you only the best in 2009!
Along with it being the beginning of the year, it's the first day of the month. That means there's a new Designer Garden over at Two Peas in a Bucket. Here my two contributions (click on the images to be taken to the page at TwoPeas with all supplies listed): copyright Two Peas in a Bucket copyright Two Peas in a Bucket
