October 2008 Archives Finally Friday Video - Hi![]() Copyright Two Peas in a Bucket Morning, all! Check out the latest Finally Friday video below! And be sure to go grab the template PDF over at Two Peas as well. The supply list is over there, too. :) Enjoy! (As usual, click here and then on "watch in high quality" if you want the video to be a bit more clear.)
Halloween 2008 (Stampin' Up! Style)
Okay, so today was Halloween at work. Seriously, SU! goes all out for Halloween... let's face it, we're creative people so we love to play pretend. :)
There was a costume contest that was just... HILARIOUS! Some departments went all out by decorating their cubicles and some even performed for the rest of us down in the atrium at lunch. Anyhow, here are some of the photos I snapped today. And don't forget the video at the end of this post... Mwa ha ha! Blackmail material, right? EDITED TO ADD: Nope, I'm not in any of these pictures. I didn't dress up... I'm lame like that. But it was fun to see everyone else! :) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Color Inspiration #28 ![]() This is a really different color challenge, eh? Sort of odd colors, but I really like them actually. :) This coin purse is from Anthropologie--a store that I love, if only for it's awesome patterns everywhere! Anyhow, let's jump into the technical details here... I've added Mister Linky to my site specifically for these color challenges. Mister Linky is software specifically designed for sharing links. See an example of it in use here. Hopefully, this will make it easier to share links to our creations. :) I'm re-instituting the round-up (it had a very short and minute death... it's since been revived). Only challenge submissions provided through Mister Linky will be eligible for the Round-Up, so be sure to try it out. :) More details are below as usual, with the Mister Linky stuff added in. So let's try this out! I'll close the link list on Thursday, October 30 at 7 pm MT.
Reader submissions for Color Inspiration #28: Links are disabled. Join us next week! :)
Two Peas Stamp Camp '08 - Week 1 ![]() copyright Two Peas in a Bucket Hi all! Two Peas is having a virtual stamp camp over the next 6 weeks and you're invited! I provided the first class, so check it out! You can see my projects, a video, plus all the supplies, and an instructional PDF over here. Be sure to check out the message boards, too, to see discussions throughout the week. :) If you create a project using faux metal and post it to the TwoPeas galllery (just selected it as a challenge entry), you'll be eligible to win some sweet prizes. I know ya'll can do it! I want to see an awesome turnout from my blog buddies. :)
MACM - Forever Thankful 4 U Ya know how sometimes you're just super thankful and grateful for everything you have and all the wonderful people in your life? I don't think we're grateful often enough. How much better would the world be if we were all a bit more grateful for each other, ya know? That's sort of where this week's card came from. With Thanksgiving around the corner, it just really has me thinking about the people in my life that I'm grateful for... and not for any particular reason (which would have me send a regular thank you card). Just because they're there and are so good to me. :) So, go out today and let the people in your life know that you care about them and are thinking about them. Oh, and enjoy the card, too! :) Supplies - Stampin' Up! kraft card stock, Simple Serif Mini Alphabet stamps, Loads of Letters and Lots of Letters chipboard, So Saffron card stock, and scallop edge punch and corner rounder punches; Heidi Swapp Forever stamp; Colorbox chalk ink; Sassafrass Lass buttons; Bazzill Swiss Dots paper
Leftovers 3 ![]() So, here we are with another Leftovers Challenge! This time Jen's mom joined us. :) Here how we did it this time. I threw out some scraps and leftover items out onto the table. Then, we took turns picking out items until we each had three things to work with. Still a challenge but not as dangerous as the way Jen and I did it previously... You remember right? Awful color combinations and really just trying to make it as hard as possible for the other person... Mwa ha ha! ;) So, here is a photo of our supply pile before we started choosing... ![]() And our choices... ![]() And our results... ![]() ![]() ![]() So fun!
Color Inspiration #27 Winner + my card ![]() Hi all! Here's the card I made for the challenge. I really wanted more of that big red flower on the patterned paper to show, but I didn't anticipate it being covered up... oh, well! I love it anyway! :) Using random.org, comment number 72 was selected. That means Lindsay's card was the winner! Congrats, Lindsay! Ya know what? I sort of miss going through everyone's entries and selecting my favorites. Katie mentioned Mister Linky, so I think I'll try that next week and see how it goes. That would save me a bit of time since I won't have to scroll through all the entries. Basically, it's a system that allows all of you guys to just enter in the links to your cards and then it generates a list (like this one--look at all the links she has! Wow!). I think that would be awesome! Hmm... lets do that. Okay, round-up is back, baby! Next week, it's all good. Back to little grids of photos, too. I miss those. :) Supplies - Kraft card stock, paper piercer and template (Stampin' Up!); satin ribbon, Birthday Basics set, Spring Moss card stock and ink (Papertrey Ink); patterned paper (SEI); dotted paper (Bazzill).
Finally Friday - Kids For this week's Finally Friday video I decided to add to my scrapbook journal. :) Just a quick page that I pulled together--mostly just because I loved this photo and wanted to get it in my scrapbook journal as quick as possible. I'm sure you all have photos like that, too, right? (You can see more photos and a supply list over here). Anyhow, you might recognize the flower on this layout. It's the rest of the Prima flower from my MACM video last week! The full-size flower definitely is in better proportion on a larger page as opposed to a card. Plus! I got to use the flower on two different projects! So, enjoy this week's video and as usual, you can view it in higher quality by clicking here and then on "watch in high quality" below the video. :)
Color Inspiration #27
Hi all! Sorry for the silence the last couple of days. I've been swamped with projects for Two Peas and I just haven't had the chance to sit down and blog! It's been crazy!Anyhow, this week's color challenge comes from my favorite nail polish brand, Essie. I LOVE their nail polish and when I saw this picture of their fall collection, I just wanted to eat it all up! These reds and pinks are just awesome! I've always loved the color red. I even love it so much that when I was in college and I would take all my clothes to my apartment complex's laundry room, I would have two washers going at once... One for my colors, and the other for my reds. :) I had so much red clothing that I could wash them separately from the rest of my clothes! Anyway, if you want to participate in the challenge this week, create something that uses red as it's main color. It can be any red you want--even pink! HEADS UP! Unfortunately, I'm going to have to stop doing the Color Challenge round-ups. I'm still doing challenges each week, just not the round-ups. I still want to post the cards or pages I make using the colors, but I've been so busy lately that I realized that I wasn't even making the projects because I wasn't getting enough time to sit down and compile all the links for the round-up. I'm so sorry, guys! But please PLEASE keep posting your projects. I love to see what you're creating. It makes me feel a bit closer to all you blog buddies. :) And because of that, and just to make it a bit more fun, instead of round-ups, I'm going to be having little giveaways each week. The winner will be drawn randomly from those who submit projects to the challenge. This week's giveaway is... Red Cherry Lollipops Fabric Flowers from Prima! Aren't these the cutest!? And perfect for this week's red challenge. :) See details below to submitting your card/project for the giveaway.
MACM - Merry Christmas Not a whole lot to talk about this morning. Just that I've been madly replacing all the music in my videos. About half of them have been replaced and are available at Revver.com (click here for my profile). All though I'll still upload my videos YouTube, I'm trying out Revver for the time being. The main difference between YouTube and Revver is the fact that Revver pays all of it's content providers (video makers) with ad revenue. YouTube on the other hand only pays those who are in their partner program--and it's SUPER hard to get into the program. So basically YouTube sits back and makes money off it's video makers. Just doesn't sit right with me. And since I have monthly costs to maintain kwernerdesign.com, any little bit of money coming in each month is helpful. Ya know what I mean? :) Anyway, hopefully all the videos will be back by the end of this week. I'll be back tonight to post the Color Inspiration Challenge selections. I apologize for taking so long posting these each week. It's getting harder and harder to carve out the time. Anyhow, here's the vid! Supplies - Bazzill Kraft card stock, Making Memories patterned paper, Stampin' Up! ribbon, Hero Arts Three Trees stamp set, Colorbox Ink, Stampin' Up! Very Vanilla card stock, Papertrey Ink Mixed Messages stamp set
Finally Friday Video - Clear Card Be sure to check out the page over at Two Peas to see supplies and other information. I have a bit more information posted over there as well. And as usual, you can view it in high quality by clicking here and then on "watch in high quality" below the video. :) copyright Two Peas in a Bucket
Swapping out video audio
Hi kids! I will be removing all my YouTube videos from the web over the next few weeks. I'll be slowly swapping out all the music in the videos with royalty free music.
I know you all have enjoyed the music selections, but unfortunately they are copyrighted. I've always felt slightly guilty for using copyrighted music so I'm trying to make it all good. :) Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have everything uploaded once again. Thanks for your patience!
October Card Club
It's time again for my card club. This month it's almost like a craft club since we're only making one card. :)
Anyway, this month's projects use mostly new products I've picked up over the last month or so since I've been thinking about Halloween. Be sure to check out this stamp set by Pink Paislee and this velvet paper by Doodlebug Designs. So yummy! Love it! Oh, and by the way, these are my first card/project photos I've taken with Paco... love him. Love him. :) ![]() ![]() ![]() Bag Supplies - Small Kraft Coffee Window Bag and Birthday Basics stamp set (Papertrey Ink); Trick or Treat stamp set (Pink Paislee); Beetle Black Chenille Spot Flock paper (Doodlebug Designs); ribbon (Strano Designs); black mini eyelets (American Crafts); Lovely Lilac, Pumpkin Pie, and Gable Green card stock, Basic Black ink, corner rounder punch, paper piercer and template (Stampin' Up!). Oct. 15 Garden at Two Peas
Hi all!
On the 1st and 15th of the each month, the Garden over at Two Peas is all new with projects from the Garden Girls. That means, today is my second GG release! :) Below are my projects that I created for the Garden (click on each photo to go to the TwoPeas page with info and supplies). And let me tell you, that little reindeer card... oh, my word! I love the little glitter-fied nose. LOVE it! Anyway, enjoy! And be sure to check out the other projects over at the Garden. ![]() copyright Two Peas in a Bucket ![]() copyright Two Peas in a Bucket ![]() copyright Two Peas in a Bucket ![]() copyright Two Peas in a Bucket ![]() copyright Two Peas in a Bucket ![]() copyright Two Peas in a Bucket
Color Inspiration #26 ![]() Hi all! This week's Color Inspiration Challenge comes from Sur La Table. I bought some holiday cookie cutters from them last year and I've always remembered their creative cookie photos, so I thought I'd check out the latest. I'm not sure how long they've been selling these number cookie cutters, but the examples are sure cute! Anyhow, enjoy the colors! For those in the US and Canada, it's time to break out last year's Stampin' Up! In Colors--that Wild Wasabi was the perfect green for the photo. If you don't have Garden Green, you can substitute it with your favorite green. :) I can't wait to see what you do with them!
Welcome, Paco! ![]() Brought home a new camera tonight, a new Canon EOS 50D... oh. my. word. He's beautiful. I have dubbed him Paco. After Pachelbel's Canon in D. Get it? He's gorgeous. I love him already. I'd marry him if I could. His battery grip, extra battery, and 8GB memory card arrive tomorrow. Sigh. All I need is something interesting to take a photo of.
MACM - Simple Flower I really wanted to make a super simple card using minimal supplies for this week's MACM, and I don't think I could get any simpler! :) Anyway, I fell in love with these flowers when I saw them over at the TwoPeas store. (They're sold out right now, but they have other colors that are available). What I didn't know about them though, was how big they are! They truly are sized for a 12x12 scrapbook page. Fortunately, they can be taken apart and only a few of the circles used, which is what I did for this card. I plan to use the large petal circle on a 12x12 layout soon. :) Anyhow, enjoy the video and as usual, you can view it in high quality by clicking here and then on "watch in high quality" below the video over at YouTube. :) Music in video - "Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas Supplies - Chocolate Chip card stock (Stampin' Up!); patterned paper (Heidi Grace); flower (Prima); ribbon (Papertrey Ink); button (Fancy Pants).
CI #25 Round-Up! So here are my top 21 picks from this week's entries. Lots of inventive ways to use the colors and so many are kids friendly--which is what I thought of while making this card. My card uses many of the new stamp ets I've acquired lately. I broke out the Cosmo Cricket stamp set I used a couple weeks ago for this MACM video, the Polka Dots Basic stamps I used for last week's MACM, and then another cute little set from Hero Arts that I've been meaning to use. This little froggie is actually from a Christmas stamp set, but I couldn't resist him. Isn't he SO cute?! Anyhow, here are the picks: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Supplies - Jack's World stamp set (Cosmo Cricket); Jolly Christmas stamp set (Hero Arts); Polka Dots Basics (Papertrey Ink); Ballet Blue, Certianly Celery, Ruby Red, and Whisper White card stock, Certainly celery and Ruby Red markers, paper piercer and template, Scallop Edge punch (Stampin' Up!); Coluzzle circle cutting system; Uni-ball signo gel pen.
Finally Friday - Glitter Snowflake Anyhow, here's the latest Finally Friday video that I did for Two Peas. :) This week's card looks pretty simple, but it had a few extra steps in there because of the embossing and glitter. And who doesn't love some glitter when it comes to holiday cards, right? ;) So, enjoy the video, and of course you can watch it in high quality over at YouTube (click here, and then on "watch in high quality" below the video). (copyright Two Peas in a Bucket) Supplies - Big Holiday Words stamp (Hero Arts); Aqua Mist card stock (Papertrey Ink); Versamark ink; Close to Cocoa card stock, clear embossing powder, Heat & Stick powder, glitter, chipboard snowflake, and ribbon (Stampin' Up!).
Color Inspiration #25 ![]() Hi kids! Here's another Color Inspiration Challenge for ya... #25, can you believe it!? I can't believe I've posted 25 of these! Wow! Anyway, this week's picture comes from the pages of the latest Ikea catalog. Such fun colors! I can't wait to see what you all come up with. :)
CI #24 Round-Up ![]() ![]() Hi kids! Updating really fast since I'm in a hurry... Here's my card for CI Challenge #24. And here are my favorites. Sorry I don't have the images. Time got away from me and I didn't have a chance to crop all the images down. But I didn't want to make you guys wait any longer. BTW, I used numbers in the circles, but I didn't rank these at all. I just randomly linked up all of the ones I selected. Enjoy! When I have it this way (just the numbers) it's like a surprise every time you click on one! :) NOTE: My super card-making stamp-loving friend Jennifer McGuire located the stamp I used on this card over at the Hero Arts website. It is Bird on a Branch (click here to see it). AND! Great news! If you enter in the stamp number (from the side of the block) into the product search spot, that particular stamp will pop up! Awesome!

MACM - Merry Christmas Anyhow, even though it's only October, it's never too early to start on your holiday cards. So, here's my first official Christmas MACM of the year. However, I won't subject you to holiday music until November. (Although, I've been listening to Christmas music since... oh, July?) I don't know about you, but I {heart} this stamp by Hero Arts. It's so adorable! I just love those little owls! :) Oh, and before I forget, I've made my card for the Color Inspiration challenge this week, and I've selected my favorites. I just need to compile them all. I'll post them tomorrow morning. Anyway, here's today's video. (Watch in high quality here, and then click on the "Watch in High Quality" link below the video. Seriously, it makes a HUGE difference.). Supplies: Three Owls stamp (Hero Arts); Polka Dot Basics stamp set; Pure Poppy card stock; ribbon (Papertrey Ink); Garden Green, Whisper White, and Old Olive card stock; Chocolate Chip ink; Garden Green, Only Orange, Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip Basic Black, and Real Red markers; corner rounder punch; blender pen (Stampin' Up!).
Finally Friday Video - Trick or Treat ![]() Hi kids! One of new things that I'll be doing over at Two Peas In a Bucket is a weekly video series similar to Make a Card Monday. It's called... ta da! Finally Friday! Because sometimes you wake up on Friday and you're all, "Dude. Finally." :) So, yes, there will be another video every week... That's two videos per week. What have I gotten myself into?! AH! It's gonna crazy 'round here. Oh! Also, these videos have running commentary through them instead of music. Just so there's a bit more instruction. Anyway, so here's the first one. I'll be back next Friday with another!
Color Inspiration #24 ![]() Hi all! We're back at Color Inspiration Challenges and I hope you really like this one. :) I'm still obsessed with autumn colors, so when I saw these plates over at Pottery Barn, I just couldn't resist! Enjoy! And I can't wait to see what you all come up with. (As usual, you DO NOT have to use Stampin' Up! colors. Use whatever you have on hand. Also, for those outside the US and Canada who don't have Kiwi Kiss but do have Stampin' Up! colors, you can substitute Old Olive for Kiwi Kiss.)
New Garden up at TwoPeas
BTW, there's a new Garden up at TwoPeas... My first pages are there. :) Click here to see the latest Garden projects.

Searching for rulers? I've had a lot of questions about the blue t-square ruler I use in my videos. I actually bought it at a local office supply store, but it seems that many of you are having trouble finding something similar. So, here's what I found to help you out... Over at DickBlick.com (an awesome art supply store), they have the exact ruler that I bought years YEARS ago when I first started studying calligraphy. I loved this ruler SO much and panicked when it broke in my scrapbook bag about a year ago. That's when went out to find a replacement and ended up with the blue ruler I have now. However, I think I might buy this clear one in remembrance of my beloved ruler from yesteryear--and promptly bag the blue ruler (which I don't like nearly as much). Anyway, here are some links to their store for the ruler and some other products you might be interested in (since you're paying shipping anyway, and the ruler only cost $1.96): C-Thru Junior T-Square Ruler Tombow Mono Adhesive or Refills Blick E-Z Grip Knife Super Giant Punches (including a HUGE 2-3/16 circle punch) Kolo Noci Photo Album Anyway, happy shopping!
