On Gardening...

The first time I knew that I wanted to be a scrapbooker (and eventually a cardmaker) was when I was introduced to twopeasinabucket.com by a couple of the girls at work. Seriously, when I first saw all the projects and amazing things people were making, I was hooked. I especially loved the section of the site with projects made by the Two Peas In a Bucket design team, The Garden Girls.

That makes this even more special to say: I've been asked to be a Garden Girl!

080708-2peas.jpg

I have accepted and am so excited! I can't wait to get going and taking on the challenge of creating projects each month. I'm especially excited about filling my scrapbooks again. I've been on such a card kick for the past few months that my albums must be getting lonely. Of course, I'll be making lots of cards over there, too. :)

I couldn't be more honored to help give back to a website and community that has helped me so much. If it wasn't for TwoPeas, I don't think I would be here. :)

I'm sure some of you are wondering if anything will change around here. Nope. I'll still be hosting the Color Inspiration Challenges each week, sharing Make a Card Monday videos, and posting various projects throughout the week.

This brings up another point I wanted to talk with you guys about. I've actually received some emails from upset readers who don't understand how I can work at Stampin' Up! but use non-SU! product on my blog...

Well, kids, this is how it is. This is my personal blog. It is not affiliated with Stampin' Up! in any way. I do love SU! products and stamps so I will always use them, but that doesn't prevent me from using other great products out there, does it? I love all things paper and crafty no matter where it comes from. Therefore, I will use it. And I hope you enjoy seeing it, as well. After all, if you use my projects as inspiration, you should be swapping out what supplies I use anyway, right? :)

Hope you all understand.

In the meantime, I've got a MACM video to shoot... Better run!

Kristina - CONGRATS!!! That's so exciting. I haven't been on Two Peas much but I know with you designing over there I'll get into it more. Also, I just wanted to say that it is such a bummer, the people that have to find some way to criticize in everything. As a demo, I LOVE SU! products too but the variety you can get by broadening your horizons is something no true crafter should miss out on! Best of luck with your design team adventure! I'm excited for MACM tomorrow!!! It really brightens up an otherwise depressing day (whole week until the weekend...)!

Hi!
Just wanted to say on congrats on the 2peas garden girl gig! It couldn't happen to a nicer..or more creative...gal! And, I TOTALLY agree with your take on using nonSU! products! I lOVE SU! and am a demo. But, I love other lines of product as well. Of course I restrict my use of stuff to SU! only during demos, but in my scrapbooks and personal projects, I use whatever strikes...BUt no worries, my SU! stuff gets LOTS of action! I mean, if you work at Chili's, can you never eat at another place?!?! Just because you work somewhere doesn't mean you can't appreciate and enjoy items from other places! Variety is the spice of life! Spice it up....we love you!

Congrats on your new adventure! I will also weigh in here on the SU/nonSU stuff discussion. I am an SU demo and I totally love their products, but this is a big, wide world and there are also a whole lot of other really cool stamp/paper/embellishment/etc..... companies out there. It's like if your dad worked for Mickey D's and so because you love him all you ever eat are big macs and stuff from MD's. We all need to be out there exercising our crafting taste buds! Thanks so much for all you share with us. ~chris

Oh My Lord!!!1 Congrats Kristina!!! Best of luck and have tons of fun!!!! I heard about Two Peas sooooo much but never really checked it out, I guess I will.

I do agree with you!! if anyone checks my blog, ha!!! what would they say? I used stamping up, whatever else there is out there and tons of creativity to use things I have at home. People need to understand there are tons of products being realese everyday and we are addicted to paper crafting hehehe.

hugs!

WOW - that's so cool!! You know your blog is the first place I saw their products and just love them and think they suit your style so well.

Amen on SU - we all love the industry, period. I appreciate anything that helps me feel creative, no matter where it comes from!

Thanks for sharing - I can't wait to see what you do. I'm not a scrapbooker but I always find inspiration in your pages.

Have a good video! :)

Congrats Kristina!! This is great news...so happy for you. You deserve this!!
I can't believe that people would email you upset that you used another brand on a card. I've seen cards made with Stampin Up products from artists who design for Hero Arts. I can't imagine just having one line of products...crazy!

Congrats!! That is so exciting! You do such great work and will be a fabulous addition to the Garden Girls.

Congratulations Kristina!

And, "You Go GIrl"! I love the rebuttal! I am an SU! Demo, and use primarily SU! supplies, but why limit ourself to a brand? I don't demo other companies; but isn't it our job as demo's to sell SU! products? Not the designers? I think your creativity inspires many regardless of what brand products you use! Keep up the great work : )

Jen

WTG!!!

This is my first time commenting on your blog although I've lurked for quite some time. (sorry) I love seeing your post pop up on my reader because I know I'm going to see something great!

Wanted to say thanks for taking a stand on the SU! vs. non-SU! product issue. My mom just became a demo and I have been thinking about it myself. This makes me feel much better about giving SU! a go.

Thanks again and have a blessed day!

Hi Kristina,
Congrats on becoming a Garden Girl! I agree that you shouldn't have to stick with SU products for your MACM samples. As the old saying goes...variety is the spice of life! Before I became a demo, I didn't understand why my upline refused to use other products on the cards we made in her classes. I would always take the cards home and add to them with supplies from other companies to "punch them up" a little bit. Now that I am a demonstrator I can understand the upselling part of it, but you also need to take yourself back to the time when you were just a customer and put yourself in your customers shoes...so to speak. Just because they love other products does not mean that they won't buy SU products also.

Wooo hooo! Congratulations! I am so excited for ya!! I can't wait to see what you get going with over there! Hey, I am so glad you use other stuff not just SU! When my sister first started selling SU, she made everything with only SU stuff (mostly stuff I didn't have) and I remember being so frustrated!! I was totally thrilled and can remember calling to tell her about you saying "she uses everything SU AND everything else -- so I can do this!!" I LOVE how you mix products and really shed a whole new light on SU stuff for me! I have actually bought MORE SU because it works so well with everything else!!

Congrats on being a Garden Girl! I've had a TwoPeas account in forever but never uploaded :) I've been uploading to ScrapinStyletv.com instead. I do keep a favorite at TwoPeas though and post in their forumn now and then.

Ok, personally speaking, if you love paper crafting/rubber stamping you'd be using anything awesome that you can get your hands on. I love SU stuff and if it wasn't for an SU workshop back in the days I wouldn't be making cards/scrapbook pages. BUT, oh there are sooo many awesome stuff out there too and how could I resist?

It's your personal blog and you should do whatever you want! :)

Congrats on being a Garden Girl! Nice!!
I think you help this community with your inspiration and your art SO much. To the demos or whoever the gripers are about not being all SU--get a life! No one forces to watch (G-A-S-P!) or read the blog. How rude to critize you IMHO.
Keep it up -- your crativity adn eye for 'something new' is inspiring! :)

oh, WOW!!!! Kristina, what an honor to be a garden girl! Congratulations! I am so excited because I {heart} two peas. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
I'm sorry people have been hard on you concerning your use of non SU products. I am with you on this one. Love, love, LOVE SU and am a demonstrator, but I also am such a paper crafting addict that I love everything else too. I would feel like I am depriving myself of a lot of fun if I limited myself to using products from only one company.
You go girl!

As to the SU thing - you are an artist and as such should get your inspiration for everywhere and not feel hemmed in. I am sure it makes you better at your job!

Wow - Congratulations Girl!!!!! That is awesome :-) I pop into 2 peas occasionally but I have trouble navigating over there. Maybe I'll have to visit more often to see your awesome stuff!! Will you be linking from your blog?? That would make it much easier. And regarding the use of SU! products, it is nice to see you use some of it but I am so happy that you use lots of different products!! And I agree with you, we all have to use what we have to create when using your inspiration!!! Thanks so much K!!

Congrats on becoming a Garden Girl! And I just wanted to say that I LOVE it that you use products from all different kinds of companies...I think your example helps me to be more creative, to think outside of the box, and to use all of my supplies (not JUST Stampin Up) as well. Thanks so much for all that you do for us!

Congratulations on being selected as a Garden Girl!! And I loved your story about your start. That makes being asked even more special!! As for products you use, I for one am very grateful you use other supplies sometimes. I am not an SU demo, though I go to Make n Takes and have a few supplies from them, so I appreciate seeing other papercrafting items from which to draw inspiration!!! Thanks for all you do!!

Lori:

Congratulations! I am looking forward to seeing what you create for that! As far as your comment about people being upset you use other products, I think they are confusing you with being a demo. Demo's and professional jobs are two different things entirely. If you were a demo you are obligated to use SU products but you are not and this, like you said, is your personal blog. I didn't for a minute think you should only use SU products. My thought is using outside products only enhances the creative possibilities for SU! :)

September 8, 2008 @ 7:37 AM

Congrats on becoming a Garden Girl, what a great honor.

And as for using just one "product" that would be impossible. I myself am a demo for CTMH and as one of my customers says "I am an equal opportunity spender. I share the wealth." Each company has wonderful innovative products available, whatever makes my pages fit my families needs then I will purchase it. It doesn't matter who it is manufactured by. I'm glad you made that point.

So Congrats again!
