Sunday Leftovers 2
Let's just say that Jen decided to get me back for the awful items I gave her for our last Sunday Leftovers Challenge. Really, she's ruthless! She was laughing evilly as I was trying to make my card for this week! My word! She definitely made it a challenge this week.
Anyhow, here's what she gave me:

Hello? The red Thickers alpha? What the crap!
The first thing I could think of to do was to try embossing over with white. Um...

No. And you thought card stock warping when you embossed was bad?
How about using it as a stamp? And then cutting it in half to make an 'I'?

Obviously, I had to figure out how to fill in the gaps in the stamping. I tried using a marker to outline the letter, but because I don't have a Wild Wasabi marker (the ink I stamped it so it would match the dotted patterned paper), I used an Old Olive marker as shown in the picture. Gross.
I don't have a photo for it, but the next thing I did was use a blender pen to transfer the Wild Wasabi ink over to the stamped 'U'. Ahh... lovely. :)
Then I stamped a heart on the dotted paper, embossed it, and punched it out. I also knew I had to disguise the atrocious mismatched colors on the "leafy" patterned paper. So, I embossed over it in white. I had no idea what else to do!!
And here's the final card. I'm actually pretty proud of it. :)

What do you think? Be sure to visit Jen's blog to see her card and the items I challenged her with. :)
I {heart} U - Stampin' Up! Jersey Shore patterned paper, Certainly Celery card stock, 3/4" circle punch, Big Bold Birthday stamp set (heart stamp), Wild Wasabi ink, blender pen, and Winter White embossing powder; K & Company patterned paper; American Crafts Thicker alpha; Paper Trey Ink ribbon.

I am totally impressed! I could not have done anything with that "U"!
Kristina - AMAZING JOB!!! I would never have thought to use a thicker as a stamp! Anyway I LOVE that card and really want to buy that Papertrey ribbon! :) Now I have to go hunt down where you put your roomie's blog so I can check out what she did!
I really love this concept! You didn't have any paint that you could have painted the letter with?
:)

Ooooh! She was MEAN! LOL
And I would have made a stink card cos I would have tried to somehow tie them all together - mismatched colours and all! Love your end result.
When you get stuck with LEMONS make Lemon-aid. Love the card!

If you hadn't shown us the process no one would have ever guessed that this card had given you so much trouble! I {heart} it! You always make your cards look so effortless!

You made it easy on her!!! and ....your card turned out cute!!! I was able to emboss on cardstock letters and they didn't warp... I used multible layers of SU Craft Very Vanilla first though.. they turned out pretty cool!

Oohh...that was a bad hand you were dealt! But you made something awesome out of it!
I laughed out loud at the inky, warped U. That is soooo something I would do! And post! I am glad you posted your step-by-step. ;-) I love the final outcome, too!
I love hearing all of the turmoil you went through with the challenge. Yes! Does that mean you're just has human as the rest of us?
You guys are a classic. How funny to read both posts and hear about the stories with each card. I can imagine that it's fun and games around your house. Great idea for a challenge with a friend to use up those scraps. Both the cards were great by the way. Thanks for sharing. Anna
