1. Some of you might remember that I bought an Amazon Kindle not too long ago. Well, the jury's back and the consensus is that it's a winner! Granted, I usually like my electronic toys more sleek and "Apple-like" (aka my iPhone), but this little thing is loved by me anyway. :)For those who don't know, it's an ebook reader. I tend to buy books, read them once, and then never touch them again, so this is a total space-saver for me. Plus, new release books are generally available for Kindle the same day as regular print releases, and at a lower cost.
Want that new Stephenie Meyer book? Buy the Kindle version and it's only $9.99. AND you can read it within just a couple minutes. It downloads over a cell-phone network directly to your Kindle! And there's no service contract.
There are also plenty of online resources for FREE books that you can download to your Kindle. Most of them are classic novels. I particularly enjoy the free Jane Austen books. Cool, huh?
It's also a rudimentary web browser. When I was in Phoenix visiting my mom, I forgot the cord to charge my iPhone, so I used my Kindle to check email and read comments here at the blog. Totally convenient. :)
If any of you want to get a Kindle, they have a special going right now that you gives $100 off when you open a Chase Amazon Rewards account. I'm not advocating more credit cards, but if you're needing a new card and a new Kindle, why not save some cash and get both (plus a $25 gift certificate for every 2500 points accrued on your account).
What am I currently reading? Love, Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli.
(My word, that's sounds like a commercial. I didn't meant for it to sound like that--I just love my Kindle!)
2. On a craft related note, how many of you kept your Crop-A-Dile packaging? I'd wager that only a few of you did. If you're looking for the information on what settings to use when, here's a lovely PDF of that back insert, complete with setting instructions. I tracked it down a while back and have been meaning to share it with all of you. Enjoy!
3. Need some good blog reads? Try out some of these (straight out of my Google Reader):
How About Orange4. Yum. :)
The Pioneer Woman
Office Tally (for all you Office fans!)
5. Current TV favs:
The Closer6. Favorite hair care product of the moment: Frederic Fekkai Salon Clear Glaze Rinse. Received this for free as a sample when I was in New York and went shopping at the Sephora in Times Square. AWESOME! I asked my hairstylist about it and she basically said that it puts a thin silicone coating on all your hair strands so that it all the breakage lays down flat and back together. Does that make sense? Maybe not, but I love this stuff. It really does make your hair look and feel like you just had it cut. Oh, so soft! :)
Project Runway
Shear Genius
Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List
Tabatha's Salon Takeover
(Um... I think I like Bravo).
7. Favorite iPhone 3rd party application: Twitterific Premium. Twitter for iPhone people. :)
8. I'm closing in on the end of my initial Invisalign treatment. I'm on trays 14 for upper and lower, with only two more trays on bottom and five trays on top to go. After that, I wear that last set for 1 year. But at least that year isn't with pain every two week when I switch trays.
If you want to compare before and after, view some of my old YouTube videos and then look at the most recent. :)
9. Received my Stampin' Up! order today. Delivered straight to my desk (one of the perks of working at Stampin' Up!).

Boy oh boy, am I excited to break all this out. Can someone say ya'll are going to be seeing some glitter in the near future? Mwa ha ha!

So, if they deliver to your desk do you still have to pay shipping? :)
Don't apologize for the commercial! Thanks to you and your Wernermercials I finally found a grey eyeshadow I am not allergic to - MAC - and countless other things!
Dig the prod reviews and completely jealous of your glittery order. Hmph!
:)
Kristina, I hope there's some clear embossing powder in that big box; I've been cringing every week wondering, "Oh no! She won't have enough EP to finish her MACM!" Come on, dump a couple of jars in your tub (which is just like mine!). Love your blog!
Thank you so much for the Crop-A-Dile info. I saved the packaging but still couldn't make heads or tails of it. All playing did was create some nice embossed dots. :) Now maybe I'll actually enjoy it and not say mean things to it.
Looking forward to seeing MACM with Glitter. Whenever I use it, it never seems to go on right ... and then I'm just sparkly for the rest of the day. Not a bad thing, just a curiosity to my neighbours.
I [heart} glitter! Can't wait to see what you do with all your SU goodies! :D
Delivered to your desk?!? *green galore with envy*
Dear me...what a job you have! :)
I've been wanting a Kindle for ages. I still have it on my "Amazon Wish List" but I haven't gotten yet. I was just saying to a friend the other day, after I finished reading "Breaking Dawn", that now I have four of these HUGE books and what am I going to do with them now? A great series, but takes up alot of room.
Thanks for the heads up on the great blogs, etc.
We don't have a Kindle, but everyone I know that has one, loves it.
We share the same love of shows. We TiVo those shows. We didn't start watching The Closer until last year, so we love when TiVo records an old episode. My husband laughs at my "Thank You" imitation of Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson.
This season I got into watching My Life on the D List. My husband is surprised that I love that show. I love having shows like this on my TiVo box when I have episodes of insomnia every couple of weeks. I love how poor Woz is roped into her activities.
Tabatha is brutal. Just caught her show over the weekend.
Have you watched Million Dollar Listing? That's a good one too.
Really glad to see you back and without any back pain.. ok, with LESS back pain! I'm drooling over your box of Stampin Up! supplies... can't wait to see what you do with it! I think you have the absolute BEST job!! You always have the best products, Stampin Up and otherwise...
I think the real question here is HOW MUCH CRAFTING STUFF CAN ONE PERSON REALLY OWN WITHOUT GETTING LOST IN IT ALL? How fun! I get an order sometime this week too, but alas it won't be delivered to my desk...or rather where I do most of my work, in the kitchen.
Love the random blog -- that's what mine typically are! Okay, I don't know what I'm more jealous of: the to-your-desk delivery of your SU! order or the Kindle. Thanks for the review! Oh and I printed that Bake or Break recipe myself when she first posted it. I just got done baking two huge batches of cookies for a friend's son's football team so the muffins will have to wait awhile. I'm baked out! :) Oh and by the way, I TiVo every single one of those shows exept the Tabatha one. I'll have to add it now since we obviously have the same taste in TV. The other Bravo show I loved this year was Flipping Out. I totally heart Bravo.
Hey woman,
What glue do you use when adhering glitter? I'm experimenting with some letterpressed glitter cards and haven't found a good glue to go on the press (cringe). I can't believe I'm even trying this...or asking your opinion as ant fine printer would send me to printers jail for even attempting to put glue on my rollers...with that said, any suggestions to someone that might be replacing my press soon ;) It needs to stay tacky a little longer and I think it needs to be a sticky/thick viscosity. The new site looks GREAT! And, can I enter your MACM even though I don't scrap? I'd love to submit a letterpress card or two. Hope your back is feeling better!
That reader thing sounds awesome!!! I want one, I have thousands of books collecting dust, cause I love reading! I bet that thing isnt avaiable in australia yet! How much does it cost in US$
Oh and I cant wait to see if we get some of that cool glitter in our next catty
You can also get the Chicago Tribune and other papers on a kindle too. can't wait to see what becomes of all that paper and glitter.
Hey Kristina,
I'm so excited about glitter. I usually avoid it because of how tacky it can look but I've also used it on some projects and it looked great! Question: I'm looking into ortho to straighten my teeth and I'm sure you know how cost is always an issue. How much does the invisalign run?
I totally thought of you when I saw that Tangerine Tango in the catalog! I cannot wait to see what color combos you might use it with! And I cannot wait to see what you do with all that glitter... you've turned me into an embossing queen! LOL!
Thanks for the Office link! I need to get something for my brother's birthday and the gift set is perfect!
Oh! Your box looks so pretty! I am going to have to be more careful of what I am ordering so, it shows up color co ordinated!!!
Wow,that's a lot of info and really helpful info..btw dunno what time it is at your place but CONGRATS!!
it's the 26th,I have somewhere written down that that's the day you started your blog
sorry if I'm wrong,the post-it note said so..not me :P
I was looking at your older posts and saw the "one year anniversary" lol
OK! After clicking on the YUM! link I found this and thought you might like it! A GIANT cupcake cake pan!!!

click on additional views and you can see the pan!!
You are really bad for my shopping addiction. You have every gadget that I want and the last one was the kindle! I bought one for myself for my birthday back in January but cancelled the order b/c of the back order and I bought my self some jewelry instead. I am so kindle shopping again!
what a beauty that box is! no matter where it's delivered it is exciting to receive ANYTHING in a su! box!
What a beautiful sight!
That is very exciting that you get boxes at your desk! I got a box with some goodies for myself yesterday! YEAH! I had a workshop last night so I didn't even really have a chance to look at them. Tonight I will be having some fun! YEAH!
And I have to say that I'm addicted to Bravo as well. Love Sheer Genius, Project Runway, and Tabitha's new show too!
Hope you are having a great day.
I've got about 100 pages of Stephanie Meyer's last book to read. I read the first two while I was in Maine the first week as August. I've been pacing myself with the last two. 'Cause I'm enjoying it sooooooo much. All four books were my guilty pleasure for August. But they did cut into my crafting time!!!
You lucky girl! I've been wanting a Kindle for a long time. I just bought & read Stephanie Meyer's latest book, which I LOVED. I never read a book twice, so it would make much more sense to have a Kindle. I think I will just have to get one now. :)
Hey Kristina! I love your product endorsements! Don't stop! And don't stop sharing the awesome blogs you find. You may have already found this one, but it is my favorite cooking blog ever:
http://www.pickypalate.blogspot.com/
Check it out if you haven't already.
Thank you for sharing all your great ideas! You're the cutest!
SOOOO DROOLING over your #9 OH my gosh... can I live in that box!! YUUUMMMOOOOOOO :)
Please show us how to use glitter in your tasteful style! I have the glitter and can't seem to do much with it except get it all over the house for days.
How cool is it that hey deliver to you DESK!! Now, that is a job with bennies! So, do you also have the 3-4 days for picking like the rest of us stamp-a-holics? Can't wait to see what you do with that glittah! I read or hear somewhere that HS Cheerleaders use it for eyeshadow, etc cause it is soooo super sparkly! Maybe you could show us how to apply it correctly with a You-Tube Video - teehee!
Lovn' ya blog!
Oh thank heavens! (putting two and two together) I remember a post pre-SU employee disclosure days where you received a box of stamping supplies and made a comment about the box being open and the lady across the hall rifling through your stuff. I thought, "Oh my word, what kind of neighborhood does this poor girl live in?!" but now I get it! A little office humor. :)
ANSWERING SOME QUESTIONS:
Yep, as an employee you can have your SU! orders delivered to your desk. However, our orders are put into the system the same way workshop orders are, so we're subject to the same excruciating wait until it's done picking. I waited a full week for this order. :)
Adrienne, I'm not sure what glue would work... Hmm... I like to use Tombow Mono Multi Glue but that tend to dry pretty quickly. Some liquid glue takes quite a bit of time to dry, but I would hesitate putting that through a press. I really no idea. Sorry!
rdefnet, yes, I had a package stolen off my front porch at home. In fact, I had a few packages stolen. That's why I have everything delivered to work because I know it will actually get there. I've never had anything taken off my desk at work.
Beverly, I've also heard about cheerleaders wearing SU!'s Dazzling Diamonds. Unfortunately that SU! glitter is not approved for use on the eyes. In fact, as far as cosmetics go, only a few of the glitters that MAC Cosmetics sell are approved for eye use, and I don't think they have any right now that are. I would be extra careful if you use SU! glitter on your face. I think there's a possibility of it getting in your eye and causing scratches. Just a heads up! If you ever meet one of those cheerleaders, you might point them in the direction of Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner. They can use it as an eye shadow as well:

Hope that helps!
I love your blog and your "commercials". I have checked out many many things you have talked about! LOL ~~I LOVE Bravo TV - Project Runway, Shear Genius and now my favorite is Tabatha's Takeover!!! Woohoo love that woman. She's like a female Gordon Ramsey.
Can't wait to see what you create, Glitter Girl!!
Niiiice! I like getting scrappy mail at work. :-) Can't wait to see next week's MACM!
You're a legend! (as we say downunder) I am one who threw out the CropaDile packaging because I was sure I would remember all those settings. Well, of course, I've forgotten them. What a lifesaver you are!
Wow, my dream of finally finding connections at SU have come true. I wrote them an e-mail a few months back suggesting to make colored pencils in all their colors since the crayons are to wide tip for little details. But they never wrote me back. Now that I got that out of the way I've been blog stalking you for a few months thanks to my friend giving me your website for your card ideas. I stumbled on your recipe box and decided to make them for my neighbor gifts. How did you get the paper on the top, around the handle? And what were all the section tabs, it cut off in the picture.
thanks
Rachel
So what did you order? I can see some of the things but what's the punch you got? Looks like you are getting ready for halloween!
SOOOO happy to stumble upon your blog the other day and was very grateful for it just now. I was one of the unfortunate souls that threw away my crop-a-dile packaging. Went to use it the other day only to put it aside in frustration. THANKS for sharing the link. (OH, and I looked at those YUMMY Chocolate-chip cupcakes the other day and printed them out to try...YUMMY looking)
oooh, I need some of that fabulous hair product. Hmmm...I wonder if they deliver to Marrakech?
i just got my new stampin' up goodies the other day too!!!!!!
so much good stuff :)
While you're on product reviews I have a nail polish I have been meaning to recommend to you for ages (well ok more like 4 weeks lol)
This nail polish is by Bourjois Paris ( http://www.bourjois.com/ ), and I found them at Target (but target in Australia is different to Target in the US so you might have to get it online) and i'm in love with the '1 Seconde' Fan Effect Brush, it is like 1 stroke nail polish, i have wide thumbnails so I need 2 on them, but once you get used to how hard to press down to get the nail to fan you can get perfect nail polish every time!
I also found that it lasted pretty well, we moved house and I was lifting boxes, moving furniture etc and it didn't chip
