Quick Update on Convention Surprises

So, the surprise at the end of Convention was... each Convention attendee received another FREE stamp set courtesy of UPS!

Stampin' Up! ships all our packages out by UPS, so the demonstrators know their UPS delivery person very well. :) We LOVE our UPS guys!

Anyway, we had some UPS employees there with us to help hand out all the stamp sets, too! All of us SU! employees that were on "Prize Patrol" were given brown UPS shirts to wear and UPS bags filled to the brim with stamp sets to hand out.

It went down a little something like this...
Sound effect: DING DONG!

Shelli (on stage): "What was that?"

UPS guy walks on stage holding a large box. (By now, the audience has clued in and all the demos in the audience are going crazy and cheering VERY loudly!)

UPS guy: "Well, I'm trying to deliver this package."
Shelli: "Who's it for? I can probably help you find them."
UPS guy: "It says here that it's for... EVERYONE!"

A big UPS truck drive out on stage. There are flames painted on the front and sides of the truck. Numerous UPS employees jump out.
Meanwhile, inside the "Prize Hut" (what we Stampin' Up! employees lovingly call our little areas on each side of the HUGE room where we grab the prizes for delivery to the crowd)...
We're standing behind the black curtains, each of us holding two big bags of stamp sets. We're anxiously waiting for the signal to go running out of the Prize Hut. After the UPS truck drives out, the speakers start blaring "Burning Down the House." That's our signal!

Kara (our lovely Prize Patrol Princess) screams to us over the roar of the crowd: "GO! GO! GO!"

And then we're all running out of our Prize Hut like ants out of an anthill. I run to my section and start whipping stamp sets out of my UPS bags. I hand stacks to all the screaming ladies.

Me (while waving my arm and pointing down the rows): "PASS THEM DOWN! PASS THEM DOWN! JUST TAKE ONE, AND PASS THE REST DOWN!!"
We had 20 minutes allotted to pass out the stamps. We passed out nearly 6000 stamp sets in under 10 minutes. Oh, yeah. We rock. :)

Let me tell you, it was SO fun to hand out all the free stamps! Totally awesome! I wish you all could have been there!

Kristina - I'm typing this from the hotel. The surprise at the end was SO exciting! And it's SO cool that UPS *donated* these awesome Ronald McDonald House sets so we can make MORE money for the RMH's!! I couldn't BELIEVE it when that truck came out!! And you guys really ran fast!! You and your SU co-workers ROCK, didja know that?!? And I'm one of the ones that requested a picture with you - will send it off to you when I get home tomorrow! Thanks for the great updates - I've been sending my family to your blog to see the pics!

I LOVED the Convention Barbie commercial - I couldn't understand what the "Barbie's" were saying - hoping they'll post that commercial online or at least pics and the dialog. I thought it was HILARIOUS, esp the part "UPS Ken not included". LOL!!!!!

I am sad :(
I was busy with the wildland fires on the Stansbury Mtns and by Payson last night and all day today so I missed out on the last day of convention. I heard that it was the Ronald McDonald set.

Kristina,
OMGoodness. The energy in that room when the UPS guy said "Everyone" was like an explosion! I'm quite sure everyone was jumping up and down and I had confetti.. everywhere! I had to shake out my shirt. LOL
And to see Shelli get all choked up thanking you, the staff, was eye watering. It must be so heartwarming to work for someone who loves ya so much. :)

Man I wish I was a US demo!!! We need like a worldwide convention one year for everyone to join in the excitement!
I still say you have to find a way that they need you at the Australian convention next year so us Aussies can meet you and get a pic too!

Carol S.:

Let's see...if I save $50 every bi-weekly paycheck (26 x $50 = $1300), that should be enough to go next year :) All the updates you have left us make me want to go so bad!

Hey, UPS needs to put you guys on their Nascar pit crew...lol.

That was the most crazy exciting moment of any of the conventions I've been to. Thanks for everything you guys did to make it the BEST EVER convention. I know what a huge task it is. I just got home and I'm pretty sure I've never been this tired in my life. Happy tired, of course!

Thanks for all of it!

Kristina,
WOW U ROCK!! I was so glad to meet you and get a picture, which by the way when I download all my pics from convention I'll email to you. Gotta get flowers for my shoes, yours were so cute, I will have to play with our ribbon and see!

I hope you made it in time before your family ate all the pizza! LOL Yes, this is the crazy lady from AZ who also brought her friend for a picture she was hoping to get with you. You should have seen her face when I showed her you and I, priceless! I too was touched when Shelli expressed her love for all of you that work for Stampin' Up! We love all the people who work back at the office and especially you for all your creative sharing on this blog.

Hugs to you and tell all your co-workers we love them!!

Hey Kristina! I am SOO bummed i didn't see you hand out the prizes- were were sitting in an aisle row where I recognized Shannon West and Jill Kocherhans running out. That was the FUNNEST THING EVER! We got pics with the UPS guy (a very cute one!) and loved every minute. Thanks for being a part of a great team that put on a great convention!

p.s.- Us Great Swap Girls were going to break in and find your office and "TP" it some Decor Elements... we just couldn't successfully sabatoge the security system... :D

That truly was an awesome surprise, and you guys did an amazing job of passing them out quickly and orderly in the midst of massive chaos! "You" were the one to pass them out to my row, thank you very much! I was about the 6th person from the aisle, and I screamed, "Thank you, Kristina!" but you couldn't hear, it was so loud in there! Thanks again!

oh yay! I'm the prize patrol princess! I love it, totally makes my day.

I was blown away at how completely fab the prize patrol team was. My goodness, we handed out all those in under 10 minutes. That's way amazing. We should call Guiness to see if that's the world record.

:)

come say hi- and thanks for all your help!

The day after I got home, the UPS man arrived at my house and my daughter answered the door and yelled (as he ran back to his truck) "Hey Mom! It's the UPS guy...do you want me to tell him to wait so you can give him a hug and thank him for your new stamp set?" I think he ran a little faster when he heard that...lol. Thank you all for an incredible week!

Totally agree, it was way awesome. I think I even had tears in my eyes.

It was nice to see you in person too! I didn't stop to chat (I'm shy!), but I did tell you 'I love your blog, I read it everyday!" on my way in to General Session on the last day!

That was the highlight of convention! I truly felt like I was on Oprah's Favorite Things Show. I am so blessed to work for such a great company. The ironic thing is I was planning to drop after convention, not anymore. I was so glad to meet you in the Memento Mall. You are a great source of inspiration. Thank you Kristina!
