MACM - Star Trio

071408-macm1.jpg

071408-macm2.jpg Hi all!

For this week's Make a Card Monday, I wanted to break out some paper I haven't use for a LONG time. The blue patterned paper is actually fabric paper from the KI Memories line Love Elsie. It has an adhesive on the back, but I wanted to pop it up from the card base, so I left the backing paper on.

I also covered a chipboard star with card stock. For more instruction on covering chipboard, please watch this video.

Anyway, I hope you all had a great weekend. I mostly lounged about the house and read. We're reading A Thousand Splendid Suns for our book club at work, and so far I really like it. I'm not too far in yet, but what I've read is really outstanding. I love this writing style. :) Have any of you read it? Without giving anything away, what did you think?

Anyhow, here's the video. :)

Splendid Suns is my all time favorite book, right behind The Kite Runner! There is a moment in the book where I literally gasped! Enjoy!

Fun Card. Looks great in high quality, thanks.

Where did you find those small filing tools? They would be great around details.

Thanks for MACM!

Hi.

Great card. I really love this fabric paper and your own background stamping technique was fabulous.

I have read "A Thousand Splendid Suns" and "The Kite Runner", by the same author and I absolutely LOVED them. I was in an emotional roller coaster while reading A Thousand splendid Suns. On the one hand, I was really mad at how things were going in Afghanistan and on the other hand, so overwhelmed with gratitude that I was born in a different society.

Awesome card! And such great use of Versamark!

I've read The Kite Runner and thought it was an amazing book. I've been meaning to pick up A Thousand Splendid Suns, but I have a habit of collecting more books than I can read. Hope you like the rest of it!

Another good book, possibly for a book club, is The People of Paper by Salvador Placencia ... it's awesome!

Are you the Ribbon Master or what? I saw what looked like a little re-threading of the ribbon mid-bow. If I tried that there would be a complete break down in bow.

I do have a question, when you covered the chipboard star, can you touch up the edges with ink or something? Or is it okay to leave them raw? I haven't tried it yet but it would be nice to have that option.

Love MACM and the color challenge. You Rock!

Our book club just finished Thousand Splendid Suns too. Everytime the story is from Mariam's point of view, I wept. Such a moving story.
Nice card, as usual.

Great card -- as always! But I just love blue and brown.

A Thousand Spendid Suns is excellent. Makes me thankful for everything I have and totally take for granted. As Americans, we should not complain about anything.

Okay, I LOVE that stamp set! Who made it? (Great card, BTW! And, great choices when you went shopping with Mom, couldn't have come a better time. Wore the melon-colored shirt to the orchestra the night the package came ... it was just what I needed! Thanks a million!)

Love the card (as usual!) ;) I *really* enjoyed A Thousand Splendid Suns. If you read The Kite Runner, same sorts of themes, just from the female perspective...very powerful, and really makes you think about all (and be ever more thankful for) the liberties we have as women in America. I'd definitely recommend it!

Yes, that is a great book. I liked it much more than Kite Runner. I think that this book would make a great movie, although they had such a hard time releasing Kite Runner. But I like the story of the "women". So glad I was born in the U S of A

Great card! I love the use of stars. I have a bunch of star stamps, but for some reason, it is like I have a fear of using them. Odd, I must admit, but somewhat true! And as for the book -- great book! I liked the kite runner a lot, but I liked A Thousand Splendid Suns even more. I hope you enjoy it all the way to the end. Thanks for sharing your card today, I always look forward to your videos.

I liked the book & actually submitted it to my book club. It really opened my eyes. The language- meaning the Arabic- was a little difficult at times, but overall I thought it was worth my time. :)

Great card Kristina, love the colors you chose.

A Thousand Splendid Suns is an amazing book. It will evoke emotions from you, that you don't even know you have. The best part is that you will finish the book and have a greater understanding for a world that is so far away from ours; but at the same time through fate and circumstances affects us every day. This book and Kite Runner will go down in history as two of the greatest novels of the 21st Century. It will leave an impression on you that you will not soon forget.

Family left after a 2 week visit, so I'm catching up on my favorite blogs. Kristina, if you loved the Kite Runner, you'll love A Thousand Splendid Suns even more. You get an understanding of what women went through during that time in this book. Both books are fabulous, thought provoking, and unforgettable. Another I'd recommend is The Space Between Us, by Thrity Umrigar. Check it out on Amazon. And enjoy Convention!!

Great card, first time visitor. I think the star is from Heidi Swapp and I'm sure I have some, if not make your own from packing and a punch.
