Today is...
National Splurge Day! If you had $500 to spend on anything--really, ANYTHING!--how would you spend it?
Leave a comment telling us how you'd spend your "money." I'll randomly pick a commentor and send them a $5 Amazon gift card (via email, of course). Not exactly $500, but you could get 5 songs from their MP3 Store
... LOVE IT!
NOTE: I've closed the comments for this entry. I just draw a random winner and the details are in the next entry. Thanks for all your answers, everyone! :)

Hmmm...if I could splurge on ANYTHING it would probably be a new camera or Coach bag!!! I love your blog, Kristina! So much inspiration!!!
Ok I'll bite. Can't say no to MP3's! I have an online shopping cart at Anthropologie that totals just over $500. If I had the money, I would check out! Three tops and two pairs of shoes - YES! (Seriously, I'll take those MPS's though!).
:)
I would probably get myself a new camera! My niece dumped a bucket of water over the one I have and now it's not working right anymore :( I will have to save up a bit to get a good one. With those $500 the saving part wouldn't be as long :)
oooh...splurge day?? And I'm going shopping this evening too!
I guess I would have to splurge on the 85mm prime lens for my camera. a little more than $500, but if I'm going to splurge, I might as well go all out right?
If I had $500 lying around, I'd pay off the new Nikon P80 I just put on my Dell card! ... and pay off my Target card with the leftovers.... I'm such a sinner. BTW- I'm addicted to your blog.... I heart you :)
Well, my first impulse would be to go do a shopping spree at my LSS, but what I've *really* been wanting is a Canon Digital Rebel...a bit more than $500, though! I'm finally getting into scrapbooking, and have been kinda nit-picking my pics lately. Not that a new camera would make me a great photographer, but it'd certainly help to be able to change f-stops and focus on my own!
And, as a side note, congrats on being featured for the Sketch Challenge at SCS! I remember when you made this card, and it's still a great one...love it! Gonna have to go make something now ;)

I would buy a swing for the deck. You know, for two or three people, with a cover over it. I desperately want one. I would sit outside every night on my swing!
splurge? hmmmmm? I guess I would go to a scrap retreat with the works!!! mani/pedi/massage. and tons of scrappage!!!
I would buy courtside seats or a courtside seat at the Air Canada Centre to see the Toronto Raptors play the Boston Celtics. The Raptors are my team and the Celtics are the NBA Champs with two of my favorite players, KG and Ray Allen. Talk about perfect. Sitting courtside is something I've always wanted to do and I hope someday I'll be able to.
I would buy a Time Capsule for my Mac, I need a bigger back up drive.
I'd buy stamps!!! :D
Marie
I would splurge on a weekend trip to the Central California or southern California coast, where I would stay in a nice hotel, have a massage, walk on the beach, and splurge on a really nice dinner or two!
My first impulse is to spend it on myself. It's just to splurge right? I don't have to be responsible. I would get my hair done in a new style with all the product to go with it. I would get a facial, a manicure and a pedicure. Then I would have to go shopping for a new outfit or two. Of course, I would have to hit a Starbuck's along the way. If there was any leftover by then, I would treat myself to a nice meal out!
Thanks for indulging the fantasy!
If I had an extra $500 just sitting around, I'd splurge by placing a deposit on a cruise for my husband and I this fall!
Hmmmm, a flight to Hawaii....a hammock....a new watch since my favorite just broke....the list could go on and on.
i splurge and buy all of the nestabilities and i'd get an iced vanilla coffee from mickey d's with what was left LOL
Take my husband out to a nice dinner.
Send each of our kids $50.
Save the last $100 for our trip.
If I had $500.00 to spend, I would fill my tank with FUEL, and head to my daughter's home in Spanish Fork.
(I live in Western Colorado and this summer the visits are few and far between)
I would then take her with me on a shopping spree to our favorite scrapbooking stores and quilting stores!
Then we would take our treasures back to her house and play for days!
Of course we would go out to eat at fun restaurants because we wouldn't have time or desire to cook!
Thanks for the dream..

What a fun thing to think about! No question, I would splurge to buy tickets to go to NYC for a vacation with a girlfriend or if he's nice, my hubby. =) Though I'm not sure you could get 2 tickets for $500 anymore. ;)
I would splurge on a me day.. go to the spa for the works then go shopping.
I'd take my splurge funds and buy tickets to see NEIL DIAMOND in Boston on my birthday (August 23)!!
It would be hard to choose between a trip to England to visit my dear friend whom I haven't seen in ten years, a trip to Hawaii or go to the Stampin Up Convention as a guest. I had a blast when I was a demonstrator, and that was before SU had their home in Riverton. :) i'd love to go on a tour of SU's facilities. My sister-in-law lives nearby, so I love to visit her when I go to Utah.
If I could splurge on anything, it would be a plane ticket to Prague to visit my daughter one extra time this year!
I really want a new lens for my D300- I think the 50mm f/1.4. And since that's only $325, I'd use the rest to get Rock Band for my Wii when it comes out on Sunday!
I would have to get myself a new computer. Mine seems to have an attitude problem and doesn't work right!
If I had $500 that I could just spend I would be selfish and buy LOTS of gadgets and card making things!!! I want one of the mini sewing machines among other things!
I would buy the whole collection of nestabilities by spellbinder. Looking at them but can't afford them.
I think I have $500 worth of stuff picked out in the Stampin' Up! catty! Or I'd go to Archiver's!Or to the Gap! Or to Target! Just too many choices!
I would spend it on my daughter which is where all my extra money goes anyway :)
Well, $500? Funny you should ask. I would probably splurge and get a Dyson! Wait, thanks to Mr. Bush one of my dreams has come true. I went yesterday and bought it. I could hardly contain myself. I have been a vacuming fool all day today! It's the little things in life we should get excited about, right? Saying goodbye to dust bunnies is apparently one of my little things! :)
Oh my - well, my first inclination would be to put it on bills. However, since it is National Splurge Day, then of course it wouldn't be right to do that!! Soo... a splurge would mean... order a bunch of the new decor elements Stampin Up has just come out with, and then of course a trip to town to spend the rest of it on some new clothes, a pedicure, and a nice lunch with a friend!!
Thanks Kristina for giving away the Amazon card too - so generous of you! Love your site, and all your inspiration!!
I would love to get a new digital camera..or a new cell phone..ENV2 :) or place a 500 SU order so I could stay a demo, but I am dreamin...love your blog!!!! have a Great Day!!!
Hmmmmmm.... $500 eh? I can't decide if I would buy lots of goodies from Stampin'Up... or maybe American Crafts.... or maybe a fabulous Coach purse. Yeah I think the purse for sure. I love crafts - but I LOOOOOooove Coach purses more! Oh wait - maybe a sewing machine!!
Only $500?! Sheesh...hehe!
I'd blow it all at the paper store in Japantown (San Francisco) that I'm driving over to today because they have some of the most spectacular Chiyogami papers there (but they're super spendy, spendy!) They do sell them for a 3x5 inch piece for $1.15 so I'd probably get one of each of their samples. :D
Ooh, a link to a similar store (been here to the one in the link but their selection is less than the one I like to visit.)
http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/paper/japanese_prints_flat.html
Gorgeous, no?!
To be honest, I would go shopping for stamps! Hehe. I could easily spend that much money SOMEWHERE! Thanks so much for the chance to win!
hmmm.....it would be hard to decide. to be honest...if i had a smaller amount i could pick...but when i have large amounts of money...i tend to hoard it! but...since it is national splurge day...I would get a full body massage (never had one....) and use the rest to put towards hotel reservations so i could take my little one to see sesame place. sad, huh? how we change the way we think when we become mothers....never thought it would happen to me! :)
thanks for your inspiration...this blog rocks!
regina
I don't want the vpucher, but wanted to leave a message anyway! All the money would go on craft stuff and Clinique/Dior make-up! Extravagant!!!
http://chickadeecards.blogspot.com
Let's see, I have wishlists from PTI, Rubbernecker, CHF, and more...that would take out a chunk. Then the rest? I would also like to upgrade my digital camera, and if there was enough left, get my fancy film camera gone over so it works perfectly. Oh, and buy a scanner that can do negatives and slides.
I'm sure I have gone over the $500 now, but hey, a gal can dream, can't she?!
$500, lets see....I would get a pedicure/manicure, a massage, buy some stamping supplies, take my family out to dinner, buy some shoes of course and probably some clothes. That should take care of the $500 easily.
Not necessarily a splurge, but I would pay for the labor for someone to paint my living room and kitchen!! Just the thought of doing it myself makes me cringe. - Mandy
If I had $500 to splurge on, I would probably put it away toward a vacation with my husband!
Thanks Kristina! You're the BEST!!
I think I would use the money to travel.....yup, travel.
I would get my husband the GPS he has been coveting.....he has been wanting one forever and I am getting tired of hearing him talking about it....then I would buy some stuff to "organize" my stamp room!
Thanks for letting us dream a little!
LeAnne
I would definitely go buy clothes. after months of spending all my budgets on stamping supplies the need for some new digs is DIRE! I can't stand to wear the same shirt over and over.!
I would probably purchase the a LOT of new Stampin' Up! Décor Elements. And I'd probably get a good photo-editing program. Then I would start scrapbooking.
Oh yeah, I'd probably take my DH out for supper, and maybe some friends--only if there's enough left over...:-)
Hi! If I had $500 I'd buy a new over-stuffed chair for our breakfast nook. I really want one but know it's not a top priority right now. Someday...
What a fun question - i'd get the new iPhone - coming out next month, and then save the rest of the $ to put towards the monthly charges.... :-)
Beth B.
Paying down credit cards probably doesn't count does it. Well I need clothes and my kid needs clothes and a big boy bike with 4 (training wheels count as 2) wheels. Put I really just want to go crazy buying stamps.
I would spend $250 on clothes and $250 on craft/stamp stuff!!
Definitely a new camera with lots of digital scrapbooking kits, or more MAC makeup!
I would spend most of it on a dishwasher - as we are buying a house & it doesn't have one! And I would save enough to buy some thickers in the poolside font... I have been DYING to get ahold of some!!!
I would put it towards a ticket for me and my hubby to take a trip to Rome!!
Trish
I think if I had $500, I'd give $250 to my mom to buy clothes. I'm 14 and she always makes my lunches and I never get her anything for Mother's day or her birthday. Plus, she's always complaining about how her wardrobe needs an upgrade... but she's always putting everyone's needs ahead of her own!
I think I'd spend $100 on craft supplies, then the rest will probably go to my savings 'cause tuition is expensive these days! Especially if you wanna become a psychologist (which is what I want to be!).
I would totally buy the whole set of Nesties, I want those so bad. If I had money left over, it would go towards Copic's. =)
$500--lots of shabby chic girlie stuff for my girls' rooms! I am on a decorating kick and have been finding fabulous stuff!
SHOES! I would definitely buy shoes.
I would buy my Ipod Touch, and some scrapping stuff
Like some stamps I have my eyes on, or more accessories
Oh
Copics!
I'd put it towards a new digital camera. I'm saving for an SLR!!
Travel - I'd take a trip to San Francisco or Monterey, someplace where I could be around the ocean and just relax for a few days.
hate to say it, but if I had $500 bucks right now I'd fix the brakes on DH's car. They are squeaking and scraping something fierce! But if I win the $5, I promise I would blow it on something fun :)
A Wii and Rock Band. I don't have the will power to save for it because of my addiction to makeup, but I really, really want them. :D
How fun! I'd buy my fiance a mountain bike - he's been eyeing them lately. Of course, I'd have to find more $$ to buy one for myself!
So only $500 to spend on ANYTHING...
SG:1 the Complete Series, The Gilmore Girls the COmplete Series and 1lb of GODIVA to munch on while wataching all those DVDs...
well... that would be a start... now If I won the lottery.... well that wasn't the question now was it.
Angie =O)
If I had $500 I would purchase PhotoShop and a new lens for my Cannon XTi. If $500 would cover all of that!
If I had $500 to blow I would buy a new fancy sewing machine from Toews moving sale.
If I had an extra $500 today ready to spend on anything I wanted, I would........
1. buy a really good bluetooth for my iPhone $100 (I refuse to use my old one with my new phone)
2. buy a Costco iTunes gift card 60 songs for $50 (what a deal - 10 free songs!)
3. buy a Quickutz 12" Platform & 2-12" Dies $100 (love these things, but can't justify it right now)
4. buy my hubbie a bike so he can go bike riding with my daughter and I (no more excuses for him) $150.
5. take my daughter on a summer clothes shopping spree (she is 8 and now wants to pick out her own clothes, so far that consists of Hananah Montana, High School Musical, and Jonas Brothers gear) $100
That's the way I would make the $500 stretch for my entire family - so pick me :-)
A external hard drive to hold all my digi pictures and a picture printer!(no idea which one though...got any suggestions?)
If I had $500 I had to use for a splurge, I would buy computer stuff - an external hard drive and a new monitor for my desktop.
Hi there!
Well, seeing as my hubby owns his own camera store, I do not need to spend it there, but I sure would love to take him on a little afternoon delight, starting with a pedi, mani and massage. Then a wonderful lunch ocean side, and a walk along Plymouth Beach, and then a nap by the oceans edge, and a romantic cruise supper. He deserves it! After all he puts up with from me!I think the ocean is so revitalizing, and soothing.
Thanks for letting us play Kristina!

I want one of those cool video cameras you have on your side bar, some beautiful La Mer plates from Williams-Sonoma, and a weekend with the fam at Great Wolf Lodge! :)
I would buy tickets to fly to Utah to see my brother and his wife and their new baby girl. Or maybe I'd spend it in gas money to get there~it's only 15-16 hr. drive.
I think I would buy an itouch and add to food storage
Oh, to have $500 right now! What I would do is join a gym or weight loss plan maybe......oh maybe go visit my friends in B.C. Yeah that!
I would buy a Wii or an Xbox for my kids, but before I bought that I'd be real tempted to get myself a Cricut, a Cuttlebug and some Nestabilities dies.
I would spend it on STAMPING!!! My favorite hobby ever!!
I'd definitely ride on over to Pottery Barn and pick up a few things I've been eyeing! ;) Love National Splurge Day! Hee hee! ;)
I would buy "Pazzles Inspiration Electronic Cutter"
ooh...tough...
a new digital camera? possibly a dslr (although that would require some extra saving)?
clothes?
a plane ticket?
more stamping supplies?
so many choices...
thanks for doing this, it's super nice of you to do it
:)
Hmmm... Probably a mini vacation to get my hubby away from his stressful job. If anything is left, proabably designer paper and lots of ribbons.
Wow, now wouldn't that be a blessing to have $500.00 to splurge with. I think that I would buy season tickets to the waterpark for the family. Then with the little bit left I'd buy a new digital camera.
I would so buy some new clothes! I had a baby 9 months ago and still need to lose a little baby weight (I've lost most of it) but nothing fits me at all, but I hate to go buy a lot of stuff since I am hoping to lose the weight in the next 6 months.
I suppose I should say Crafting Supplies, but honestly, would love to do a mini-spa day with a couple of girlfriends as a surprise ... something that involves listening to piano music over dubbed with chirping birds. Thanks for the daydreaming break.
....
Ooops: burnt the chicken...too much daydreaming.
Being relatively new to the stamping thing I'd like a whole bunch more SU stamp sets and I'm rather intrigued by the Cuttlebug.
Oooooh...definitely a BIG Coach handbag...that would be a splurge I would never indulge in without FREE money!
:)
If I had an extra $500 laying around free to spend on anything that I wanted I think I would get passes to all of the cool, fun places around here for my child and I to enjoy before she enters Kindergarten in the fall. So far she is an only and I have enjoyed every last minute of the time that I have been able to spend with her these last five years!
Melissa
I would put the money towards a camper so that I could go to the lake every weekend.
I would put the money towards a camper so that I could go to the lake every weekend.
$500...Hmmmm...
Probably a set of Copics and a Dooney & Burke hand bag that I have been wanting forever!
One word--Copics. :D
Wow, there's so much I want to buy! I would probably get a new camera, organizers for my scrapbook room, and if there's any money left, I'd go shopping!
I'd splurge on a new handbag - not sure which designer though - and probably some new clothes with anything that's left over. :) Fun to think about...it's like dreaming about what you would do if you won the lottery!
I would go to my nearest scrapbook store and buy half of my extensive wish list. Then I'd talk to my SU! demonstrator and buy what I could (probably only a quarter) of what's on my wish list. I'd use the last bit to hire a babysitter so I could play with my new purchases all by myself with noooo interruption!
I love your blog!!!! I've learned so many tidbits from you!
$500..........I would add that to my stimulus check and get the Digital SLR camera that my husband and I have been dreaming about.
*If* I had $500 to splurge, it would either be on going to a friend's wedding, or added to the DSLR fund. =) But I really didn't need to know that there is a National Splurge Day! ;-)
Aren't you so sweet?! It wouldn't buy a plane ticket home, but I might give my sister the money towards a ticket so she could come visit me after our baby is born. That would be great! But I'd insist on her filling her suitcase with stamp supplies!
Clothes... and by clothes I mean and expensive handbag or shoes! LOL
Lots and lots of RED RUBBAH baby!
I would probably buy myself some new shoes... and some shelves for my scrap space... and more stuff to put on them. And of course a little something for the kiddos... Renew our disney passes.
I work full time at a manufacturing company, I'm a full time Mom, and work part time with Stampin Up as a demonstrator. I've been wanting to stay home with my kids for awhile now but she can't afford it. So if I had $500.00 I would use it in a way that would allow me to quit my job and be a stay home Mom. Please pray that the Lord would open doors for me to stay home.
Rox
I would buy the great chandeleir I saw today for my new house! I wonder if my hubby might think Splurge Day is for real- we wouldn't want to be unpatriotic (or something)
