Back from New York
Hi everyone! I'm back from New York. It was a whirlwind trip and I loved every minute. :)
90% of the trip was for work so I won't go into that, but I did get to do some additional fun things. I went to The Phantom of the Opera with Amy (of YouTube and Glamour magazine fame--check out her awesome makeup tutorials) Really, I totally geeked out when I realized we would be in NYC at the same time--Amy for The Makeup Show and me for The National Stationary Show. We're totally YouTube BFFs now, right Amy? We bonded over mutual love for shoes and New York. :)
I also did a little inspiration shopping and wandered around Brooklyn with the girls from work. We found an awesome antique shop where I accidentally looked at a 1950s magazine of questionable nature (AHH! My EYES!). Then we boarded a VERY crowded bus where we obviously annoyed people around us by talking because one guy in particular stuffed earphones in his ears the minute we sat down and started talking around him.* But we were lost! I consulted my iPhone for a map of the city as we tried to quietly debate whether or not we were anywhere near a subway stop. BTW, yes we were near a subway stop. The Jay Street stop.
We stayed the Marriott Marquis at Times Square which has the most awesome elevators--glass tubes that allow you to see out of the elevator to the atrium below. Go ahead. Gaze down and imagine yourself plummeting to the bottom. Weeeee!
A few of us ate at Pongsri Thai Restaurant (great food, mediocre service) before going to see Spamalot. As we were walking to the theater I had my first real celebrity sighting--TIMES TWO! We saw the actors that play Amanda and Marc in Ugly Betty! Okay, so she really is as pretty as she is on television and possible even more skinny looking. Seriously, Christy--who you'll all remember from the origami star video--commented on her legs: "Like two little sticks... She could barely stand up!" I'm of the opinion that possibly she may have been drunk. Marc was partially holding her up. But who knows!
We also possibly might have seen one of the guys from The Dukes of Hazzard on our way into the city after we arrived, but I can't be positive since I didn't get a good look at him from inside our van.
Anyhow, it was a fun trip! Hopefully I'll get all rested up over Memorial Day weekend. :)
*EDITED: Apparently, the description of the scene I had earlier came across in a negative way. I sincerely apologize. A couple readers caught it and it's been corrected. Thanks, guys! :)

YES, we are totally YouTube BFFs! Would you email me the cute picture you took of us? The one I took (where I don't look so cute) can be found here:

And the question everyone wants to know -- did you or did you not keep THE shoes???
Just cruisin' blogs when I should be doing something else. Sounds like it was a lot of fun on your trip! Can't wait for your next Inspiration Challenge!
i am a new great swaps girl! i wanted to stop by to visit your blog...and i love it!
i can't wait to visit often, and i'm excited about swapping with you in the future!
Sounds like NYC was tons of fun, even if it was mostly work related. Thanks for taking the time to post your projects! You're style is awesome! Very graphic and clean!
How was Clay Aiken in Spamalot?
I Love the Marriot MQ - it is the best place in Times Square to stay!!! (I live in NY (upstate), have only stayed there 3 times - but twice was at the MM! with DH {we tagged along for work}!)
I want to take the kids back to the city this summer to see Wicked! I love Tao in NY with the 3 story Buddah! So kewl!
Glad to hear you had an AMAZING trip! Welcome home!
I was just going to ask how Clay Aiken was in Spamalot? I really like him and Spamalot, but didn't think about them putting those two together!
Side note-I was said to see that there was no Color Challenge this week. Can't wait!
Hi. I was at the stationery show on tuesday and so would have loved to bump into you. It would have been like bumping into a celebrity. Glad you had so much fun in NYC. I loved teh stationery show although I did not have enough time to peruse all the booths. There is so much creativity and artistry out there.
Wow - your trip to NYC sounded like parts of mine (from years ago). I stayed at the Marriott Marquis AND I saw Dukes star Tom Wopat (I think?) (I think he was starring in Annie Get Your Gun). Sounds like a fab time!
I am SO jealous that you saw Marc and Amanda from Ugly Betty!!! Those two are the funniest characters on the show.
Sounds like a fun trip to NYC! I'm so jealous you were at the Stationery Show, it looks like it was great this year. Please share photos if you can!
I LOVE New York - went there for my honeymoon in 1999. It was such an amazing place. Glad you had a good trip and I am looking forward to the next challenge!
First of all I am so glad you had a good time in NY, and Happy Birthday (a little late) I am addicted to your blog by the way, but have never entered a color chlg. or left a comment. I have a general question that may seem a little odd. I LOVE your nails and often end up buying the colors I see you wearing, my question is how do you get your color to last? I end up painting my nails depending on what I have been doing either every day or at the least every other day. I even splurge for a "real manicure" once in a while with the same results.
Hi~ First of all I want to say how much I LOVE YOUR CARDS. I have a quesiton though, which adhesive do you use for your cards, because I bought one from Hobby Lobby, but it turned out to be crappy. Thanks!
Hi Kristina,
Chloe (clhoe-jill) and I have decided we are "Kristina Groupies" and we are both about to go nuts waiting for either a color challenge or a MACM. :)
Glad you are back from NY, we missed ya!!
I saw one website with all different kinds of design templates. It’s a stock photography site but has vector art and illustrations. Just use those keywords to narrow your search, and then use the great visual search tools to quickly find what you want.
