More questions?

Hi all!

I've loved receiving all your video questions! And I'm going to be posting my question and answer video soon, but there's still time to get your question in! In fact, I'd love to include some text questions as well. So, if you're a bit camera shy, you can still participate.

Just leave your question in the comments of this entry. Thanks!

Do you ever have stampers block? You always come up with great ideas with fresh colors and looks.

What exactly do you DO for your day job? I'm curious, because I want to kwerner when I grow up. :-) (I'm only 33, you see...)

Hi, Kristina! First of all, I just wanted to (like lots of others before me I assume) tell you I think you are extremely talented and I look forward to your posts every day when I get home from work.

Second, I have tried using a blender pen and a water pen with watercolor pencils and feel as if I'm doing something wrong. The colors don't seem to blend right and you can always see the pencil marks from where I first added color to the image. When you use watercolor pencils, do you use a particular type of paper (i.e. watercolor paper)? Also, if you wouldn't mind demonstrating this with your tips online when you get a minute in your busy schedule, I would so appreciate it!

One last thing...do you design stamps for Stampin' Up as well? I was looking on their website last night and noticed one set of word stamps looked an awful lot like your handwriting! Anyhow...

Thanks for taking the time to listen!

Bethany

Hi Kristina,

My question is - what do you do with your non-stadard-sized cards? DO you make your own envies or do you just put them in larger ones?

Thanks!

I was wondering besides the Absolutely Fabulous stamp set that you designed, what other Stamp sets have you designed that is in the current SU catalog?

I am having trouble getting my circle Coluzzle to cut through 2 layers of cardstock like you did for your cupcake card. What am I doing wrong?

I love your MACM videos! I was wondering if you are using iLife '08's iMovie or iLife '06's version. I can't seem to find how to speed up videos on iLife 08's iMovie. Thanks for answering all our questions!

I was wondering where you found your T-square ruler. I can't draw or cut a straight line and the ruler just doesn't work for me. I would love to have one of those. All I can find are the big ones like I had in my art class in college.

Hi,
I love your site. MACM is so much fun,I totally look forward to it every Monday. I was wondering how to make a scallop edge with a corner rounder. I have heard that you can but I don't know how. Thanks so much for such a great site.

I was wondering if you could talk a little about your video camera (the flip camera). I saw that its one of your favorite and was wondering why. I'm in the market for something simple. THANKS!

Jane Logan:

Ok so firstly I have to agree with Deanne - you do have a huge following in Australia.

Secondly - a question? I said that your Mum has moved to Arizona - does that mean you live alone now? A craft related question - how often do you scrap/stamp?

hi Kristina,
i really love your MACM an your CI. I was wondering what is your setup and camera settings for taking such great photos? I own a rebel but somehow it seams like like there is never enough light por the photo to come out as clear and luminous as yours. I always have to add exposure when I treat them with my computer.

Thanx

Dolly:

Hi Kristina,

We both own the Canon XT Rebel and I was wondering if you ever thought of making a video tutorial of how you use your camera. What settings are your favorite, and the neat stuff this camera can do. Your photo's are just magnificent esp. your past ones of your niece. I just point and shoot but would love alittle extra help in this dept.

Thanks

I'd like to know how you organize your digital photos on your computer. Do you group them by year? By event? Or what? I need to get mine under control and I'm looking for ideas.

Thanks,

Okay I'm new to all this wonderful card making! I've scrapbooked for years but am just now starting stamping and cardmaking. My question is what is a standard size card and how do I know what envelopes to buy?

LOVE your videos (and ALL of your work, of course!). How do you video from above your workspace? Do you use a special tripod? Great work!

Hi Kristina!

First off, I love you! Your cards are great and I love how you bring in new techniques to your MACM like the ribbon weaving.

Secondly, I don't know if you can answer this, but do you know why the Perfect Layers was discontinued? I debated buying it and then it was gone. Can you recommend an alternative?

Third, if you make your own envelopes, can you demo how you do that?

Thanks!

Hi Kristina,
To echo what everyone has already said- you are fabulous and I love your blog. My question for you is related to Photoshop. I'm wondering if you use it a lot in your card making/picture taking/working process. Do you know of any good websites to help a gal get started? Would you ever consider posting a few tips and tricks of your own on the blog?
Thanks!
Carly

Here's my question for you. . . .. do you put extra postage on your envelopes for hand canceling since the bows will add extra bulk to your cards? I know that if an envelope is too bulky it will not go through the zip code sorting machine at the postal centers.

Enjoy your blog and look forward to Monday's cards. Thank you for sharing your talent and creativity.

Scoring...

When you make the scor on your card to fold it..do you fold it with the "scored" line on the inside or outside of the card?

Love ya...You seriously should have a TV show on DYI or something. You are just so talented and personable.

Can't wait for the next web chat.

Donna:

Here's a silly little question for ya...but how do you measure your ribbon so you get just the right amount to make a bow? I look and look and don't seem to get how you know where to cut the ribbon to make your bows. I always have more cut than is needed, but, I guess that's okay, because now I know how to make little ribbon bows with my ribbon scraps!

Thanks for generously sharing your art...you are great! But, I have to say, you are an "enabler!"
Every Monday, I'm shopping for the tools you used!

i was wondering if you had any tips on using up paper that you don't really like anymore.sometimes i'm looking through my stash and i think "ugh, i don't even like that" and i feel like i can't do anything with that paper.

Question for Miss Card Designing Guru, I would like to know about the Flip camera you use. Do you use the program that comes with it to edit your videos? I am asking because I have been saving my money to buy one. Amazon has a 60-min. pink one for $133 but on the side bar it says something about an update for the firmware of the camera. So, I was wondering if you have had any problems with your Flip and what were they if you did? I also like to know how you made your watermark. I made one from Paint for a picture I posted on my blog but would like to be able to have the same one for everything I post. I don;t know how I would go about that.

I had another quick question...how do you organize your paper? I'm sure you have tons. Do you organize it by color or brand, do you use file folders, sterlite containers, or just stack it, etc. :-D

Thanks! And, BTW, your MACM are fantastic. I get so much inspiration from them. Thanks for posting them as well as the tutorial videos. You're so crafty.

Hi Kristina-

Could you just go over the bow-tying thing again?! I just can't seem to get it. I made treat bags with tags attached to them and the ribbons looked, um, not good. :) Thanks!!

Hi Kristina:

How do you know how many dimensionals to put on the card pieces...and is there some basic guideline for where to position them? So far, I just put them wherever you put them (on your MACM videos), but someday I'd like to do it on my own :)

Oh, I was just at Joann's, and they have the mini T-squares there. They are C-Thru JR-12 (12 inches long) for $2.49 (in Washington)...

Hi Kristina,

Like everyone else and am inspired and in awe of your talent and generosity for sharing. I am new to all this blogging and uploading photos to SplitCoast Stampers and was wondering if you would give a quick overview on how to post a card there or the webpage that has info on how to do it. Also, what kind of info should I include with the photo? Finally, do you know if most people are just taking photos of their cards with their digital cameras or are there any tips I should know of?

thanks so much,
a fan from Canada

Hi! I just love your MACM. I have learned so many cool little tricks, and have actually started USING my Stamp-a-ma-jig and am pleased with the results. Love your work!

My question: when you are doing your MACM, are you making a card you have already designed and know it looks good OR are you designing as you go? And if it is the latter, how on earth do you DO that (please share)???

thanks!
keep stampin'!

Love your cards! My 12-yr old daughter and I have recently come across your website and have so much fun watching your down-to-earth humor and card-making. I bought some StaZon after we saw that you used it so much. The other day we saw you make a card and comment on how good the StaZon smells. You said that it smells just like almond extract. Well, I like almond extract. So, after I bought it, I smelled it and told my daughter to come and smell the stamp pad because Kristina is right! It does smell just like almond extract. We sat there and sniffed and sniffed and sniffed. After all, it smelled soooooooo good. Dumb me! I read the back to see what was in it. Helloooo???!!??? "DO NOT INHALE" Like I thought it would say anything else. P.S. No, there was no buzz.

Like Deanne, Jane & Ruth this Aussie girl loves your work!

I know it wouldn't be in your job description but my question is:
"Can you come to Australia and teach something at the Sydney Regionals (Or Convention in Canberra next year)???"

I am in love with your style and you do fantastic work and I would love even an hour learning from your experience!!!

PS we've already proved that you have a huge following down under! You'd be like a celebrity!

Your cards are always so wonderfully photographed. What type of lighting do you use? And do you just use your PC to take the shots - or are you using an actual handheld camera? Thanks for your continued inspiration! I look forward to your posts every week!

Ok - so I am a little camera shy, well I just don't want the world to see me in my PJ's - so don't tell anyone.

My question is about how much ribbon do you leave extra for making your pretty bows? I either leave to much and feel so guilty about having to cut it down or I don't leave enough to make a nice looking bow. Please advise as to how much extra is needed.

Thanks for all the fun and inspiring info! You truly are a talented person!
