MACM - Ribbon Weaving
It's back to the usual schedule for Make a Card Monday! :)
This week, I decided to show you all how to create the woven ribbon square that I showed you a few days ago. I'm pretty sure nearly everyone learned simple weaving in elementary school, so this is super easy.
For this card I used Lisa Bearnson's kit for the month of April, and let me tell you--I love this kit! So many awesome pieces in it. I think they're just about sold out, but if there are some still available, you need to order it right now. Right now!
Anyhow, hope you enjoy this week's card!
Oh, and ya'll should head on over to Erica's blog and wish her a happy birthday. Happy Birthday, Erica!

Wow, as usual a stunning card. Off to practise now!
Thanks!
Great card, Kristina! LOVE the ribbon weaving! Thanks again for all your inspiration...we love ya!
As always, so cute! Thanks!
PS Poisonwood Bible is one of my all time favorite books...enjoy!
Greetings from Malaysia! I was so excited to see MACM on Monday! It's usually Tuesday morning before I see it.
LOVE the weaving! I can't wait to try it out. I love the color combo as well. Thanks for all your AMAZING inspirations.
Glad to hear your knee is a bit better. :)
What a fabulous card - thanks for sharing. I'm glad that you are slowly healing.
Thanks a million for showing me that technique. I think I really do want to make the top of my ring bearer's pillow woven like that because it is just too cute!
Makes a great card too!
May I also be the first to mention.... your green eyeshadow ROCKS! (It made your eyes look very pretty when you gave us a slower Marilyn Monroe blink while you were thinking about what to say next.) Also, looks great with your earrings!
Loved the color.
Oh yeah, and looked great with your green card too!
Hi Kristina! LOVE the ribbon weaving -- also LOVE the green eye shadow! You look gorgeous! I'm glad that your leg is starting to feel better.
I love this card! Thank you for showing how to figure out the size of the card to weave the ribbon on. And WOOHOO - another use for that kit!
I did something similar to this a few months ago. I used the Stampin' Up Ginger Blossom DPS, instead, to create this heart. http://design8250.blogspot.com/2008/02/ginger-blossom.html
(bottom picture). This ribbon idea is really cute. I will have to try that out, too!
Sus.
Love this technique -- it is actually easy to do (now that you've demo'ed it), but to the recipient, it will look like you just slaved over it!
Thanks for the turorial. Such a cute card. I love your eyeshadow and earrings. Is it a coincidence that they match your card? I also liked the song. You are always introducing me to new music. Glad to know your body is healing.
Hi!
I found your blog via YouTube. Your cards are absolutely fabulous. I'll visit here often. :-)
Boy we've missed you! So glad to have you back. I absolutely love the weave technique, that's something I'll definitely have to try.
I agree with everyone about your eye shadow, what kind are you wearing?
I want to try this --- you make it look so easy! (I am guessing that it is not as easy as you make it look!) Glad you are healing -- ouch!
Thanks for making ribbon weaving look so easy. Will have to try it in the scrapbook. Glad to hear things are on the mend, slowly :( , yes, but on the mend.
I loved this technique and had to give it a try. Here's my card

Thanks for always doing the MACM. It's a great way to start the week off. Glad you're feeling better!

I just love your blog! Always look forward to watching your make a card Mondays!!!! Love the ribbon weave technique! Hope your leg is feeling better! Have a great day!
Hi Kristina, I've been "stalking" your blog for weeks now, finally got the courage to comment! ;-) I think you are awesome! Love the ribbon weaving...I did this a couple years ago for a VSN challenge over at splitcoast. Mine of course wasn't as good as yours, but I feel kind of cool that I had ONE good idea that you had too! LOL
It looks like you only used one color of ribbon, but in the close up photo on the blog post it almost looked like a lighter and darker shade of pink. Must be just the way the lights hit the weave of the ribbon going in different directions?
One more thing, I am curious as to what a "press check" is? Probably something you can't tell us about, but thought I'd ask anyway.
I love MACM, I just wish there was also such a thing as MACT, MACW, MACTH, MACF, MACS, & MACSU!!! You were missed last week, but I am so glad that your leg is ok. Hope the pain is gone soon for you. Thanks for sharing so much with all of us "kwernerdesign fans"!!!
I recently tried weaving with scrap paper and it didnt turn out right. Now after watching your video I see where I went wrong. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Kristina. Glad to hear you are better.
This card is fantastic, I'm trying weaving tonight!
Hi again, I have had a go this evening and my attempt is here: http://craftysally.blogspot.com/2008/04/just-for-you-weave.html, of course its nowhere near your standard Kristina!
Kristina, this is awesome! Thanks for sharing the directions. I had to give it a try. Here is mine

Great card! I too noticed the gorgeous green eyeshadow. Love it! MAC? Glad your leg is recovering. Missed you!
I have to know....what color and brand is your eye color???? It is beautiful!!
You're eyeshadow is beautiful! You look radiant! Bermuda did you good. (Well, minus your very, very personal meeting with Mr. Curb) The card is beautiful too! What a welcome back card. We all missed you. Last week Monday was a little depressing without your usual uplifting smile. Glad to have you back and glad that you're feeling better!

So glad your leg is mending! Thanks for the MACM on ribbon weaving...that's certainly a must-try technique.
You made my day- I just moved 5 miles from the Offray ribbon outlet and you can buy ribbon of all types for 10 cents a roll!
Love ur videos but that one was too fast! I wish you went a bit slower on the weaving..
Okay, I'm just not NEARLY as cool as you are- so I only stalk & never comment. Today I'm feeling gutsy! Love the fun video, I'm going to have to try a little weavin' myself.
Wishing you a quick recovery, thanks for sharing your art with us- we're so blessed!

Kristina, first I'm glad to see you are doing better and that you are recovering rapidly. You are the best example of when life gives us lemons, we make lemonade (or maybe lemon cookies). I can't wait to try the woven ribbon technique you demonstrated on MACM this week. Also, I used to be a free lance make up artist for Dior, and have to point out how stunning you eyes look in the video. Green eye shadow is "in" for this spring and summer and it really brings out your eyes and hair. (just thought I would share that bit) I work for Apple now and everyone at my store loves to watch your video blog. My team just expects me to show your MACM on our Apple TV demo unit playing on a 47" plasma display on Monday nights. Thank you for being so inspiring. I think I'm going to create something right now!
Best Wishes,

Hi Kristina, this card looks awesome....
Just like Sanna, I found your blog on visiting YouTube, and since then I always look forward to come and look at it nearly every day! You make such lovely cards. I already learned a lot from you! (sorry my english isn't always the way it should be..... but I'm from Belgium, Antwerp)
I'm a big fan of yours!!
Greetings from Belgium!
Another fantastic card, Kristina! So pretty!
Kristi! This card is SO stunning!
WOW! WOW! WOW!
Hi Kristina! Loved this tutorial! Here is my first weave card:

Hi Kristina,
Love this weeks MACM tutorial! Had to give it a try myself. Here it is:
http://impressivecreators.blogspot.com/2008/04/ribbon-weaving.html
Can't wait for next week!
I have a question, I tried to go to the link about the scrappin kits....so it appears April's is already sold out!! How do I get on May's? I did not see anything about that or steps telling "how too?"
Another great card this week! Love the colors. I have never checked out those kits, I always thought they were for scrapbookers. Thanks for sharing -- I will see you next week! (well, I'll actually check in before then I am sure!)
You have the best videos and ideas, Kristina. What a clever idea...weaving the ribbons into that square. Sorry about your accident. Get well soon. Your eyes look pretty, too, by the way.
1) I am so glad you are recovering
2) I also LOVE your eyeshadow
3) I did a ribbon card that was picked for the Papertrey Blog Hop challenge inspiration. You can see it here in pink but the original was aqua and moss. http://willowandpaisley.typepad.com/willow_paisley/2008/04/yay-i-stamped.html
4) I found it easier to attach my ribbon to the side as you did and then to the top and weave it once the pieces were attached.
5) I love the colors of your card and that kit looks amazing!!
Kristina - I just found your site through Dannie Graves and it is awesome!! I tried out this ribbon weaving technique and here is my spin on it http://stampwithmarilyn.typepad.com/stamp_with_marilyn/2008/04/ribbon-weaving.html I am so glad I found your site - I have added you to my google reader so I won't miss your updates - and I hope your leg gets to feeling better soon!
Great card, as usual! The ribbon weaving reminded me of my first scrabooking class which was on using vellum. We did a panel of woven strips of various colors of velum, and it turned out really pretty, too. Thanks for the reminder. I'll have to go dig that stuff back out and play with it!
TM
Awesome!! TFS
Hi Kristina,
I love your blog. Your videos are so helpful, thanks for keeping up with it and doing such great editing and good tunes!
I wonder how you find the snail adhesive for holding the ribbon on this card. My experience has been that it only holds for a short time, then loses it's stick resulting in a card with flopping pieces of ribbon on it (not very pretty, I have to say). Have you noticed this at all after having a card on display rather than neatly kept in an envelope?
Thanks,
Amy.
Another fantastic card and tutorial! I just have to try this out for myself. I'm a fiber artist (spinner, knitter, weaver), too, so this is just fascinating for me to combine weaving and card making! Thanks for sharing!
Hi there, I am a newbie to your blog and just watched your make a card monday video, holy crow! Amazing, and wonderful to see it like that, I am going to watch it a few morew times, then actually try this! THANK YOU!!!

This is soooo cool! Thanks for sharing.
Just wanted to post for you to see the card you inspired! Thanks for all the ideas you provide!
