March Card Club - Owl Card #2

030608-owl1.jpg

030608-owl2.jpg Hi all! Here's the other card we're making at card club tonight. I just LOVE these owls! I can't say it enough!

I used the same embossing technique on this card to get the raised edge that I described in this entry. However, at club tonight we won't be using a light table. I think my girls will be able to do it without. And I seriously don't want to lug a light table to Lauren's house tonight. :)

Okay, time for a book recommendation!

My card-twin and BFF Dawn sent me a book a few weeks ago that I finished reading over the weekend. It was a super cute story that I'd recommend, especially for you bloggers out there. :)

It's called The Cubicle Next Door. The story centers around Jackie, who is surprised to learn that her office space is being sub-divided by a new cubicle wall and she'll have to share her space with a new co-worker. Of course the new guy has to be annoying, and yet slightly intriguing. ;) She starts venting about the new guy to her blog buddies at her anonymous online blog. But everything changes when her blog is featured on the primetime news!

Suddenly the guy across the cubicle wall is quoting her blog to her and wondering who the writer is! I won't describe it any more than that other than to say it's a cute book. Plus, it's really clean and you won't feel guilty recommending it to your mom. It won't change your life, but it's a good escapist read. :)

Seriously, how does Dawn know what books I'd like? It's kinda freaky. Especially considering the fact that we've never met!

Owl Card - Olivia & Pals stamp set, patterned paper: Sassafras Lass; Close to Cocoa card stock and ink, 1-1/4" square punch, button: Stampin' Up!; flower and ribbon: American Crafts.

Just love this!!! I gotta get those owl stamps. The owl trend makes me think of my mom's old yellow, olive, brown and orange owl canisters from the 70's :) Too fun!!!

Kristina!
I just love your blog and YOU! Everytime I come to see what's here I just get more inspired! The owls, just got the paper and came onto your blog and there it is on MACM! I don't think I have ever loved a paper more than this owl line. It is so cute!
My daughters who are 6 and 3, said
"Mom, she has your paper!". We are faithful MACM watchers. I only work Mondays and as soon as I get home we go to computer to see what you have created.
Thanks for all you share with us!

YOUR CARDS ARE GORGEOUS!
Mine are so simple, but you give me some really great ideas.
I can't remember how I found your blog... just linking through.
Anyway--though maybe you'd be interested in the Clip-it-up card making contest...They're giving away free stuff to the winners.
you can find it on their webpage

Beth B.:

How do you do it; every time you come up with the cutest cards! I love this one for its stylish simplicity. And i'm also diggin' the owl; just had to buy the SU set "Just Celebrate" for the little owl in there. Great idea for the simple embossing too; i'll have to try that. Thanks again- your blog is one of the first ones I check for amongst my 100+ blogs I've got in Google Blog Reader; and when I see an update I'm so happy! Have a great day and a great weekend!

I love your blog and check it daily.
I'm addicted to your videos!!!!
BUT....your web site is the hardest for me to bring up...it just grinds away...while I sit in expectation.
Am I doing something wrong?
I have saved your blog as a favorite and click on it daily....then the grinding away begins.
I'm not a computer wiz...so I may be doing something wrong....please advise. THANKS

Kristina says: It takes a bit of time on my computer, too. :) It's because I have a few flash-based items in the columns. Those just take longer to load. If you want to bypass those things but still see my entries, you could subscribe via email and you'll receive my entries in emails. The spot to subscribe is at the bottom of the middle column. Hope that helps!

Kristina -- I have to tell you that I had to come back and search through my blogs to know who to thank... THANK YOU so much for the great read! "The Cubicle Next Door" was so much fun. I have barely read over the last two + years due to pregnancies and kids, and now -- I read it in one night! So much fun. I heartily recommend it to others.

And your blog is inspiring for many other reasons, too ;^)* Thanks for sharing the read. I want to know what else you are reading!

Brenda:

I decided to try your book recommendation on The Cubicle Next Door - it was a great fun 'escape' reading! I also read her other book - "Something Beyond the Sky" and now off to find the remaining books she wrote from the library so I can read it!

Thanks for the book recommendation!
