Happy Birthday, Venessa!

031508-23a.jpg

Birthdays are celebrated in various way at my office. One of the things that's practically mandatory is a card for the person having a birthday (sort of a given when you work at a scrapbooking/paper crafting company). Anyhow, we're celebrating Venessa's birthday today!

Patti decorated her cubicle, I made the card, Jen was on gift-patrol, and Lauren not only made the donut cake, but she was the director of Mission Impossible: Venessa's Birthday--complete with a white board covered in X's and O's like a football playbook and dum-dum-da-da-dum-dum musical beats in the background. :) Venessa's the newest addition to our team so we were super secretive to plan her birthday cubicle surprise!

031408-venessa.jpg

Venessa LOVES bright blues and greens, so this color combination was perfect for her. Granted, it's a more difficult combination, but I think I pulled off this analogous color scheme (colors next to each other on the color wheel) pretty well .

Taken With Teal, Tempting Turquoise, Glorious Green, Green Galore, Yoyo Yellow
NOTE: This isn't a Color Inspiration Challenge. I just thought the colors looked cool. :)

Mary Doak:

The colors are nice together. Thanks for the idea. When you make a card this size what do you do for the envelope?

Kristina says: Actually, this card would fit in SU!'s large square envelope. We didn't put it in an envelope, though. We just gave it to her.

So fun!I totally bumped into your youtube channel by accident and it brought me here! Yay for crafters!

So Where are those HUGE flowers from that are in the background? They look so fun!

Kristina says: Patti borrowed a co-worker's Cricut cutting machine to cut out all the flowers.

Ok, I have to ask - is that your handwriting that made Stampin UP!'s Absolutely Fabulous set? It is almost identical! Wish I could write well enough that someone would make it a design!

Susan

Kristina says: Yes, I created that stamp set. :)

What a great card- love the color combo! If I had handwriting like your's I think I would be tempted to use it on everything! I think those decorations would have to stick around for a while too. So cute!

Kayleen:

Which stamp did you use from the Big Bold Birthday stamp set?

Why do you always use Stazon ink pad instead of the black ink pad from su?

Kristina says: I used the "happybirthday!happybirthday!" stamp. I don't always use StazOn. In fact, I only use it when the surface I'm stamping on doesn't allow the ink to dry quickly. On this card, though, I used VersaMark. And that was because I was going to emboss it.

Why does your hand writing look exactly like the set Absolutely Fabulous? Was that a set you designed? Wish I could freehand like that!

Kristina says: Yes, that was me. :)

I like those colours together. I don't use them enough, but oddly giving me great inspiration for my youngest son's room. TA.

Love this card! The color combo is surprisingly feminine. You have the best handwriting... can you please create a font based on your handwriting? lol :)

Kristina says: Actually, I've decided to never make a font out of my handwriting. I've worked at it so much and just feel that it's one thing that no one else can replicate, ya know? Just a personal decision. Thanks for asking, though. :)

I love the color combination!!! Great card! I love the huge flowers sooooo much!!! As soon as I saw them I was like 'oh, cool, I hope those are something new S.U. is coming out with!" LOL! Can you tell us how she made them?

Kristina says: Actually, Patti borrowed a co-worker's Cricut cutting machine and used it to cut the flowers out. It was Stampin' Up! card stock, though. :)

I just found your blog!!!! What a find! Venessa's card is so much fun! What did you put on the inside of the card... not meaning what you wrote - is there cardstock in there? I think I can see another page at the top of the card. I'm wondering what the yellow scallop looks like from the inside and the paper piercing. Thanks!

Love your handwriting. Did you design the original writing in the stamp set "Absolutely Fabulous"?
If so, thanks so much! Just got that set yesterday and I'm in the middle of mounting it.

Such a happy card! I love the color combo. Thanks for such inspiring ideas. And I was checking out the "Stuff I Love" section. My hubby just brought home a new iMac 24". You know it's like a car salesman, you get a new one every six months? :) You will love it!!! The display makes the colors look so clean and crisp! When you decide to take the plunge, e-mail me and I'll tell you where his store is. Just don't go to the Apple store! :) (no plug or anything;))
