MACM - Ribbon Flower

012108-ribbonflower2.jpg

012108-ribbonflower.jpg Hi all!

This week's card was inspired by... well, I'll just let you watch the video.

Anyway, just the first part of the card took nearly 15 minutes! Normally I wouldn't spend so much time on just one thing for a card, but it was the first time I'd tried doing anything like that so I didn't know how long it would take. I think if I do it again, I'll probably be a bit faster because I'll already know what to do. At least I hope I would faster.

Ribbon Flower - All supplies from Stampin' Up! Polka Dot background stamp; Sage Shadow, Basic Gray, and Naturals White card stock; Sago Shadow ink; Pretty in Pink and Basic Gray taffeta ribbon; paper piercer and mat pack.

Beautiful card. Hey, I would have used a crewel or needlepoint needle with the ribbon work. It would have helped you go a little faster and smoother. I enjoyed your video! TFS! --Jeannie

The card is simply beautiful and I see the inspiration in the shower curtain design. Do you have any tips for keeping the white cardstock so neat when you are handling it so much. I am afraid that mine would be bent or warped.

Very cool. I bought a quilting needle this summer when I was weaving ribbon because I am not nearly as "nimble-fingered" as you. I also am not good at tying tiny knots. At least I know my short-fallings!

With that said... fantastic card. This was the first of your videos I have watched, and, as a visual gal, I thank you for this online resource.

Hi Kristina... Love those MACM's!! I've done ribbon embroidery before, and as some of the girls have mentioned, a needle would make this job much faster. I would use about a size 18 Tapestry needle, it is nice and thick (but not too much) and is blunt (so you dont stab yourself.)

Have a great week!!

I had to laugh when I saw your note that the first part of the hard took you half an hour! It totally reminded me of a ribbon project my scrappin' buddy made that took WAY longer than she thought, so of course I had to send her the link to your card. Just like her page, your card is really lovely. I enjoy your blog and I hope you are feeling better. I wish I had a picture of the one (and so far only) fever blister I ever had -- people would be startled when they say it so I know it was huge!

Great card - love the flower...but have you considered using a quilting needle to thread the ribbon? The ribbon will go right through the eye on a quilting needle because it's so large, and it's way easy to thread and would probably make this second go around way faster. Love it though - and I'm actually going to try it.

Sarah:

You always make everything look so darned easy. Thanks for MACM. Also, checked out the Cathy Kielske books that you recommended from the library this past week. Read them both this weekend and felt TOTALLY INSPIRED to get scrapbooking. Very good recommendations.

Also, noticed on your TWITTER-thing that you mentioned a monster cold sore. Whenever I feel one coming on (when I am stressed or have a cold), I start blasting it away by taking prescription medicine. I take ACYCLOVIR (generic ZOVIRAX). Usually by blasting it right off the bat like that, it goes away before progressing to the blister part. (I usually take 2 right away and then one or two later that first day. Then, don't tend to need to treat a second day. I take it at the first sign of tingling when you know it is coming. You might want to look into it.

Great Idea for a card. I have the same shower curtain hanging my my bathroom right now. I love this shower curtain. I love the ribbon flowers and have been looking for a window curtain to match but no success. I am so happy to see the design in a card cause i love making cards too. I could watch you make cards everyday all day long. How about some valentines?

Hi Kristina!
LOVE the hair! I love that your wore that hair scarf (what do you call it? I have short hair) it looked FAB!! VERY retro. I'm dating myself here.

Also, I'm sure you know now that it would have been faster, easier, etc. w/a needle. A BIG one!

I hope you feel better. Get lots of sleep, zinc, and chicken noodle soup! HOpe to see you stamping soon.

Holy Cow! I can't believe there are so many other stampers out there with the same shower curtain!!! Could it have been the creative side of us that purchased it in the first place?!?!

I've been staring at my curtain for months knowing how to do it but just never putting the ribbon to the paper. Of course, I was certain I would be the ONLY person in the world with this great idea.... Glad to actually see it done, and made so simple. I'll definitely have to check out more of your videos soon! Hey Cutie-

I HATE your captcha :) No offense, I can never type it right, then I lose my comment I worked so hard on! It always happens.

Anyway - I love the card. Before I even read your note, I thought - "Hey, that looks just like my shower curtain!" That must have been a very popular shower curtain at walmart that year. We got ours about 3.5 years ago at a walmart in North Carolina!! It's been through 4 houses with us!

The card is lovely!
