Count on You

010908-countonyou1.jpg

010908-countonyou2.jpg I like this card because it's not really just masculine or just feminine. I dig that. :)

Also, who knew that Stampin' Up!'s ABC Lower Alphabet set would go so well with the retired Straight Up Alphabet & Numbers? It's awesome, that's what I say.

Although, I wish alphabet stamps were easier, ya know? Not so unpredictable. Granted, all stamps are somewhat unpredictable, but alphas are especially unpredictable. I mean, they're so little! And it's just hard to judge where it's going. Plus, sometimes a girl is too lazy to dig out her Stamp-a-ma-jig from underneath the PILES of crap stuff on her craft desk. Oh, well!

But HOLY CRAP, Batman! Don't you love the colors in Jersey Shore papers? I {heart} these papers a bit too much. :)

Who else loves orange? Roll call!

Count on You - All supplies from Stampin' Up! ABC Alphabet, Straight Up Alphabet & Numbers, and Take a Number wheel; Take Note rubons; Jersey Shore Designer Series Paper; Wild Wasabi, Pumpkin Pie, and Bashful Blue card stock; Wild Wasabi double stitched grosgrain; metal edged tag; Brilliant Blue, Pumpkin Pie, and VersaMark inks.

Great card. I find it difficult to make generic (i.e. not girly) cards so I appreciate the inspiration.
I am so in love with the designer papers - Cutie Pie, Home Again, Summer Days, Rose Cottage, Bali Breeze, Confetti, Berry Bliss...
Did you design Jersey Shore? ;)
Thanks again and have a great evening!

Kristina says: No comment. ;)

Cute card! I went on an orange kick last year --- I seemed to put it with almost everything! I prefer pumpkin pie to only orange -- this, in my opinion, is the greatest new color to be added to the line (but I do LOVE certainly celery -- and bashful blue...)

I love the card.
I have a random question. What is the difference between blender pens and aqua pens?

Kristina says: Aqua Painters literally have water in them. You can twist off the brush part and then put water in the handle. You can watercolor with Aqua Painters.

Blender pens, on the other hand, I like to think of as just clear markers. And like markers, once the ink is on the paper, it won't move and it will dry very quickly and very flat. Aqua Painters are different and will give soft watercolor results.

Both can be used with colored ink, but have different looks. It's just up to you which you prefer or want at the moment. Hope that helps! :)

Yep, I'm an orange girl too-pumpkin to be exact. I just can't get enough of it. I can't wait for my order to get here tomorrow so I can use my Jersey Shore paper. I will have to try this card, since I also ordered the ABC lower alpha (and I have straight up alpha too;) I'm an aplhabet junkie too). great card.

Orange!! We adore orange in our house--my dining room is orange, my son's 'special' is a bear named Orange, and my husband has a strange addiction to O.J. (the drink, NOT Simpson). Thanks for sharing your beautiful card!

Shona:

Love the card! Sounds like I'm the only one that doesn't have the Jersey papers yet :o(

I also wanted to comment on your handwriting - it's just so beautiful and so perfect for journaling and writing sentiments on cards. This is probably a silly questions, but did you always write like that or is that something that your learned in your art schooling? It just really adds a beautiful and personal touch to your projects.

Thanks for sharing today!
Shona

Kristina says: Well, I've always been fascinated with handwriting so I always filled my notebook with scribbles and writing when I was a kid. In high school, I knew a girl who had been doing calligraphy since she was 12 and her writing was impeccable! So, I signed up for a basic calligraphy class with a good friend (Hey, Leslie!) and the rest is history.

I've only taken one class, but I've sort of kept up with the calligraphy thing. Just on the side as a hobby. It can be an expensive and time consuming hobby, but I just love it.

As for my personal handwriting (which I categorize separately from the calligraphy), it's evolved over the years. Granted, my study of calligraphy has influenced my handwriting, but for the most part it's just me. :)

Hope that helps!

Carol:

I have a question about SU DPs. In your photos, they always look more vibrant, and even a different color, than in either the online or hard-copy catalogs.

In your card above, for instance, the Jersey Shore blue is vibrant and much like the Brilliant Blue cardstock, but in either version of the catalog it appears a darker shade.

Can I rely on the photos in the hard-copy catalog (I realize there are always differences in monitors), or can I assume that most DP is more vibrant and true to the related cardstock color?

If you have a chance to address this sometime that would be great, but, I understand if you can't answer all these questions. Thanks either way for such nice inspiration.

Kristina says: Well, I can only speak for what the colors look like in person and it's definitely Brilliant Blue. Colors are so hard to represent in the catalog correctly, but I know our catalog team does their very best to represent the colors accurately. If you are a demonstrator, you might be aware of the Product Guide that's available on the Demonstrator Web Site. If you're on not a demo, maybe you can point your demo to it. The Product Guide lists each Designer Series Paper, coordinating colors, and in most cases, coordinating stamp sets. It really takes the guess work out of choosing coordinating card stock colors when you don't have the patterned paper in front of you.

Hope that helps!
