Make a Card Monday - December 3, 2007

120307-ornaments2.jpg

120307-ornaments.jpg This week's Make a Card Monday is brought to you by Heat & Stick powder and a whole lot of glitter! As you can see in the video, I had NO idea what I was doing! I started out thinking the card base was going to be white and then later changed my mind. Oh, well!

Anyhow, I hope you all enjoy it! Actual time to create the card: 23 minutes.

NOTE: The song used in the video is "Nattöppet" by Detektivbyrån. Get a free MP3 download of the song at www.detektivbyran.net. I absolutely loved this song in the Sprint commercials, so I had to track down the song and artist. :)

Ok Kristina, I'm going to whine!! I am on dialup because we live out in the toolies and nothing else is available. So, I cannot view your videos - well I could but it's quite frustrating seeing them in teeny, tiny bits and then waiting and waiting for the next teeny tiny bit. Is there anyway you can provide these tutorials for any of us on dialup. I love your stuff and really miss learning from your tutorials. *sniff* please. :0)

Kristina says: I'm so sorry it takes so long to download! My only suggestion is to just let it load, walk away for a bit, and then come back and watch it. Unfortunately, You Tube is my only avenue right now for sharing the videos. Hope you can figure it out something that works for ya. :)

Your videos are so fun to watch. I'm amazed that you can sit down and do this not knowing beforehand what you're going to do. I think I'd buckle under the pressure. Great job, great card.

I just wanted to say thanks for the MaCM videos! I like to see your creative process, and how a card develops into the final product--even if it doesn't go exactly as you had initially planned. I love your clean and simple, but elegant style!! Thanks for sharing.

My daughter is 8 and she likes to watch the videos with me. She calls you the curly hair girl because of the video that just shows your eyes.
Really, I learn so much and I was going to work with my heat and stick powder today to make ornaments. My upline uses a baskin robbins spoon for glitter which I love because it is cute, small and pink.

So first, I must say, when I opened your site and saw the card, I whispered, "Oh, WOW." HA!
Then I watched the video and my 3 year old came over and watched it on my lap. He said, "Why is she so fast at making that? (pause) She's really fast!" ha again.
LOVING that card!

Sometimes it looks so simpel and easy.
And i wish i had that talent...
But i saw a need object the perfect.outline??
Where did you get that from??

Kristina says: I think you're referring to Perfect Layers, which you can buy from a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, or sometimes you can find it on ebay. Thanks for your comment!

Natalie:

Enjoy your videos and adore your work. Do you find that you get better results using sticky powder and glitter, rather than using a sparkling embossing powder? Just curious...

Kristina says: The only sparkle-ish powder I've used in iridescent embossing powder, which is okay, but I do prefer plain glitter. It sparkles a bit more, I think. :)

Love, love this card! What did you use to tie the ornaments (hemp/linen thread)?
Many thanks for amazing and inspiring designs.

Kristina says: Thanks, Michelle! I used linen thread. :)

Love the design! So simple! And I'm so intrigued by the fact that you use a hobby blade to cut everything, rather than a big bulky cutter ... I find I never cut anything straight with those!

Keep the videos coming! :)

Kristina says: Thanks, Kristilyn! I actually do use a paper cutter usually. But in this case, I'd cut the white card stock after tying the linen thread on and it wasn't an exact measurement. But I still wanted a perfect mat, so I used Perfect Layers and an x-acto knife. :)

Mimi:

I look forward to your "make a card monday". I often wonder about using dimensionals behind a larger panel. I always thought you had to use a strip, but you only used 5 "dots". That proves to show your videos are so informative.

Thanks for sharing your talent.

Hey! I have never seen a perfect layers tool in action! I am sold! I have hase customers ask me what the point would be to use it...now I know, thanks! Oh, and do you have any great ideas for baby announcements???!! :) I will be making about 60 of them for our brand new daughter. They need to be somewhat impressive(people look to me for inspiration you know, if they only knew how much I cheat!!!), but I am making 60, so not totally time consuming. I love the "Oh Baby" announcement you have on your site, but don't have that set. And I have looked around for a "stitches" stamp, but I can't seem to find one either. Anyway, I know you are busy and this is that a "service", just thought I'd ask anyways 'cause I'm greedy for ideas!
