Make a Card Monday - December 17, 2007

121707-merryandbright1.jpg

Let's just say we're lucky I finished making this card.

Have you ever had a day when things just never seem to go right? That was my day when I made this video. :)

Anyway, in this video I show you how to emboss on a brad. It's actually very straight forward, but in case you were wondering... Just "smoosh" the top of the brad all over a VersaMark pad, sprinkle embossing powder over top, heat, and then sprinkle more embossing powder and heat again. It doesn't cool off very fast so the second coat of powder should stick to the first without any problem.

There's also a tip in the video on removing rubons that refuse to work.

Anyway, hope everyone's day is better than mine. Seriously, that won't be hard. Oh, and how's your Christmas shopping coming?

Let me just say I am sorry you having "one of those days"- I know how they go but cheer up things always get better.

I loved the remixed music and I loved the card. You have a lot of patience with all those rub ons. I am not sure I could be so patient.

Merry Christmas,

Tabitha

Oh, Kristina...can I just say you pick the GREATEST music!!! It's always something funky and cool that I have never heard before. Rockin' card! Love the huge brad and flower. Sorry to hear about your bad day...hey, is your stone still under warranty???

Love it!! I cannot wait to try the embossing powder on the brad. I have many of those "mishap" days here in Morocco. It took me three days to make a batch of cookies because I ran out of baking soda. Every time I went to the pharmacy (yes, that's where we buy it here) it was closed. Argh! Then I didn't have baking powder which I can only get at the super market which isn't just around the corner. Double argh! LOL! I think we have days like these to make us appreciate all the good ones!

I NEED to know what song that was that you used!

Kristina says: Hey Erica... You NEED to re-watch the credits. jk ;) All the songs are listed there.

Wendy McKee:

GOrgeous card. Can i ask a question. When you embossed on the chipboard letters the other day and added the glitter, how did you get the glitter to stay on. I have been trying to do this and have been watching you do it on the video, but my glitter always falls off.

I only leave my heat gun on the same amount of time you do. Does it make a difference what glitter you use?

Kristina says: Hi Wendy! You might be heating your Heat & Stick powder too long. Try heating it just the tiniest amount (just until it melts) and then putting glitter on it. Then be sure to heat it once more to set it. Hopefully that works. :)

Hey girl! Loved the card today! I so look forward to your Make a card Monday. :) Don't ya just hate it when rub ons won't cooperate! Ugh! Been there done that too many times to count. I have this square rubber eraser that works WONDERS for that, too! Sorry you had a bad day! I hope this week is a great one and thanks again for all of the inspiration! Oh, and just so you know, I bought a couple of gifts for my little sisters this weekend and of course the store was out of boxes (as was just about every place was), but I didn't sweat it because I remembered your cute origami boxes and I came home and whipped two up! It was perfect! Thank YOU so much. Now my gifts has a nice homemade touch to them! :) Merry Christmas!! :)

OMG...that was so very entertaining. #1, I was totally diggin' the tunes...really hip twist on the same ole, same ole. #2, a great project and had to laugh at some of your difficulties...as we all have them. #3, it really is a great card with helpful ideas on using rub-ons...and getting them off! Thanks so much for sharing. Would you mind if I put a link of your tutorial on my blog? I'd love to share this fun video.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Kristina!

LOVE the card today! I have to check out this American Crafts site ... I've been using strictly SU products (except that the UPS guy STILL hasn't shown up with my order! Going on Day 18 ...), but I'd like to branch out slightly. Just tried some Martha Stewart rubons today ... they're such a pain in the butt!

Hey, what are you making your coworkers for Christmas? Can you share? :)

You SOOO made my day. I am having one of those days so you made me feel better. I love your videos, thank you so much for creating them every Monday. I am sure this is a tip that you know already but I noticed how much fun you had with those dimensionals. If you poke them in the centre with your paper snips the sides pull up and you can peel the backing off easily.

Oh Kristina, I'm sorry you had such a rotten day, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has days like that! LOL!

Hope today has been better for you, Girly! This card is SUPER cute! I must try embossing a brad!

Thanks for the inspiration... :)

I have to say that since I found your site I have loved everthing that you have done. Today, however was your best. Your card was great, but the comments that you put in made me laugh so much that I watched it twice and I'm still laughing. I give you credit for sticking it out and not going for the cupcake! We've all had those days but just remember there's always tomorrow. Keep up the great work.

P.S. Your music selections are excellent.

Yeah! So, glad to know you are not perfect either. I'm new to rub-on, so I was very excited to see what you did when they didn't work. I love your work and your great sence of humor!!! You make me smile :) Thanks!

Ok, as soon as I saw this card I knew I was going to case it! I love it. Anything with polka dots and I'm hooked. You are absolutely my favorite stamper in the whole world Kristina and if I had time I'd case you all day every day. But, that wouldn't be too cool so I only do it once in a while. :0) I do give you full credit though!! Thank you so much for such an awe inspiring website and such incredible work. You are my Stampin' Heroin and I'm proud to say it. If you want to see my substandard case of your card it's on my blog. www.lorrainerowe.blogspot.com. If you have any suggestions or constructive critisism I'm all ears. Hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season and thanks again for the outstanding videos!

Oh...btw...your stone is replaceable. Did you keep the papers for it? Maybe you knew that already. I just thought I would mention it.
