Just making a card :)

122807-thoughtful1.jpg

122807-thoughtful2.jpg Hi all!

Hope your Christmas was wonderful! It was a low-key holiday here. I made cinnamon rolls Christmas morning and they turned out okay, but I wished it would have been better. Does anyone out there have a wonderful cinnamon roll recipe they'd like to share? Email me or leave a comment. I'd love to try it out!

Speaking of things I did on Christmas day, we went to see National Treasure: Book of Secrets. I really enjoyed it. Even though it was pretty predictable, it was still an entertaining escape.

I also did a little bit of shopping, including a visit to my local MAC counter (no, not the "mother ship" aka the Apple Store). I bought some gorgeous eye shadows and fluidline eyeliner. What is it about new makeup that's just so fun?! Has anyone out there tried e.l.f. makeup (as in Eyes Lips Face)? Everything they sell is $1. It's supposed to be at Target stores, but I haven't seen it at my local Target. Can anyone vouch for the quality?

Back to why you're here...

My craft table has been a bit lonely the last couple of days. I haven't made anything really until this morning. Just taking a break, ya know? Anyway, here's what I made this morning. Hope you like it!

I've tried some ELF makeup. It's not amazing, but for a dollar a pop (except for their new mineral makeup), it is pretty decent. I really like their lip glosses!

Kristina, you crack me up. It's so entertaining watching your videos and I love it that you don't edit the goofy things you do...like forgetting you stamped the dots in Versamark and then pouring embossing powder onto your sentiment. I laughed out loud because I can't tell you how many times I'd had similar experiences. Thanks again for your blog, your inspirations and your videos. Your updates are the most anticipated blog events of my week. Keep up the good work!

Hugs,
Lynn

Hi Kristina!
I just found your blog a couple of weeks ago & wanted to tell you, I love it! You inspire me a lot! I've never really been good at coming up with ideas for cards (I'm a scrapper!) but you have given some really good ones, and I appreciate it! Have a Happy New Year!

Kristina...

Thanks so much for sharing your stamping ideas! I thought I'd share a recipe with you. I've made these Caramel Rolls every Christmas Eve/Day for the past 10 years. They are so easy to put together Christmas Eve for eating on Christmas morning!

Connie

Overnight Caramel Rolls

1 c. pecans, chopped
1 pkg. butterscotch pudding mix (not instant)
2-3 t. cinnamon
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 pkg. Rich's frozen rolls (I usually use just 15-18 rolls out of the package)
1 stick butter
1 tsp vanilla

Grease a Bundt pan; coat with pecans. Break rolls apart. Combine the
pudding mix, brown sugar, vanilla and butter with the cinnamon. Place half the frozen rolls in the Bundt pan; sprinkle with half the pudding mixture. Repeat with remaining rolls and
pudding mixture. Place in COLD oven and let rise overnight. (Make sure rack is on the second level from the bottom as rolls will rise high.)

In the morning, turn on the oven and bake at 350º for 30 minutes. No need to preheat. Turn over onto a serving dish. Serve warm. YUMMY!

I’ve used a 9 x 13 pan and it works well.

Hey Kristina!
Yet another great card! You have such a knack for putting things together that I would never try! As for makeup, I have used E.L.F. and still do to some extent. I like their eyeliners and lipliners, the eyeshadow is very light and really doesn't crease - which I love, mascara is great, and their face whip adds just the right shimmer. But stay away from the gloss with the brush (tastes weird). Other than that I really like it and for a buck, who can really complain?

Oh, oh...try these cinnamon rolls. They are our Christmas morning tradition and I LOVE these. They've been shared with lots of people, and I always get loads of compliments on them.

Mary Jane's Old Fashioned Cinnamon Rolls

Mix until moist:
3 1/2 c. hot water
1 c. powdered milk
1 c. potato flakes
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, melted
2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
3 c. flour

Add to the above mixture:
2 T. dry yeast
5-7 c. flour (I use 6 c. most of the time...I think it depends on altitude and humidity)

Knead for 5 min. Let dough rest for about 15 min. Punch down and roll out into a rectangle (18x15 inches...and no, I've never measured it!) Spread with 1/2 c. very soft butter. Sprinkle brown sugar over the butter. Sprinkle cinnamon over the brown sugar. (I mix about 2 c. brown sugar with 3 T. cinnamon I have to admit I've never measured that part, so it's an estimate...but you want enough brown sugar so that you have a good 1/8-1/4in layer on the butter and dough, and enough cinnamon to make the brown sugar mixture dark brown and fragrant with cinnamon.) Add nuts or raisins if desired. Roll up the dough, and cut into 12-18 rolls. Place on a large, greased jelly roll pan. Let rise for 30 to 45 minutes. At this point, you may bake the rolls or cover them with plastic wrap and refrigerate them overnight to bake fresh in the morning. Bake at 325 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool about 10 min. before frosting. Use cream cheese frosting (from a can), or make your own.

Frosting:
1 8 oz. block cream cheese, softened
1/3 c. butter, softened
3 c. powdered sugar
2 T. milk (or more depending on desired consistency)

Mix together and slather those cinnamon rolls.

Seriously...they are as good as a Cinnabon.

I used to make everything from scratch, but I found the Sister Schubert's cinnamon rolls in the freezer case for $2.99 (or sometimes $1.99 on sale), and I microwave them for a few seconds and they are fantastic...gives me more time to spend with my daughters and granddaughters! And more time to make cards...I never in a million years thought I would be one to serve "store-bought", but I am coming to terms with it!

Kristina,

I have the cinnamon roll recipe to Die for. I am 17 years married and getting marriage proposals for these rolls. I found the recipe on a blog site (the only non-papercrafting blog I follow). It is www.thepioneerwomancooks.com. Just look for her cinnamon roll recipe-----it is worth every bit of work! (BTW her day to day blog is hysterical--it's good for a laugh every day...www.the pioneerwoman.com. I ask my husband about once a week if he would really rather be a cowboy...he's a computer geek...he's not going for it.)
I made my own frosting recipe because I prefer the traditional cream cheese frosting (plus there was coffee in her maple frosting recipe---what do you substitute for coffee???) If you are interested email me (it's upstairs and I'm not!).

LOVE your blog. I wanna be just like you when I grow up:)

Hey, the ELF stuff is fun. They sometimes have it at Target in the trial size bins area by toothpaste. Usually only a couple things. KMart does carry a larger line and they are on hooks on an endcap usually. I really like all their lip doodads. The shimmering facial whip is my FAVORITE. Makes your cheeks just so cute. I also like their blush, but it can break apart easy. If I go online, about half of the new stuff I buy is crap, and I never use it. Just go to Kmart to try it out. I mean, really, for a dollar, it's worth it to try.

I just found your blog yesterday through SCS. I spent so much time looking at everything!!! I love it.
So I wanted to share my cinnamon roll recipe. It is so easy & yummy. Ya just gotta try it.

Cinnamon Butter Rolls
1 package Grands buttermile biscuits
1 stick of butter
1-1/3 cups half & half
1 can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2c. chopped pecans (optional)
1 Tbl. cinnamon
1 Tbl. sugar
Heat oven to 350
Melt butter in 13x9 pan. Place biscuits in pan & turn over coating both side w/ the melted butter. In medium bowl, mix together half & half, Eagle brand milk & vanilla. Pour over top of biscuits. In small bowl, mix together cinnamon & sugar; sprinkle over top of biscuits. Sprinkle w/ chopped nuts. Bake 30 to 35 min. Serve warm & spoon sauce over biscuit.

These became my family & workplace favorite recipe this year. If you try it, they will eat it.

Again, love your blog & the videos are fabulous.
Thanks so much.

Cinnamon buns - I just use my regular bread recipe and then roll it out. The key is (learned this from my mom) is to spread LOTS of butter on first and then LOTS of brown sugar and then the cinnamon. Roll it up, slice into sections and let rise. Then bake. Sorry - it's mostly in my head. Can send more details if you like. Thanks for the great videos - love your blog!

Yum ... cinnamon buns! Damn weight watchers ... maybe that'll be my treat when I hit goal! Ha ha ...

Thanks for the video!
