Annie's Card

121207-annie2.jpg

121207-annie.jpg It occurred to me tonight that I've made a lot of cards for people I know and love, but I've never made a card for Annie! Tragedy! Annie's one of my New York buddies, so she definitely deserves a card. Watch out, Amber, you're next!

Anyway, this card is all about the embossing and x-acto knife. I used an older Fontwerks stamp set for the letters (stamped them in VersaMark) and embossed using Stampin' Up! detail embossing powder. Then I cut them out one by one. It was a bit time intensive, but worth it!

I added the three circle punches and the stamped hearts at the last moment and now I'm wondering if I should have left it alone. It makes me feel all weird like I'm looking at Mickey Mouse ears. Ick.

I always try to go by my gut and when it says, "Should I add something else?" I'll add one little thing and then tear my hands away from the project. Generally, if I have that feeling once, it will continue. I'll indulge it once but after that I ignore it.

Maybe I should have ignored the first one this time. ;) Don't worry Annie, I still love you... just not your Mickey Mouse ears.

Annie - Patterned paper (Scenic Route); George Outline Alphabet stamp set (Fontwerks); Big Bold Birthday stamp set, Basic Gray and Purely Pomegranate card stock, Basic Gray ink, 3/4" circle punch, So Saffron brad, Purely Pomegranate double stitched ribbon, Winter White detail embossing powder, paper piercer and mat (Stampin' Up!); VersaMark ink.

Oh my goodness Kristina, you're too funny! "Ick" Hahaha! Sometimes you just make me laugh! (That's a good thing!!) :)

Adorable letters! Don't worry about the Mickey ears! Heehee!

How long did it take you to cut those letters out?? I'm afraid I'd botch them all up with an exacto. Any tips? They're DARLING!

Kristina!

I was checking your blog and I saw the card and I got so excited! I immediately had to start reading the text to make sure that you don't have some other friend named Annie or you weren't just on a name kick after watching the movie or something. I think that both you and the card are SO CUTE and I especially think that you are THE BEST! Love ya!

Kristina, You have wonderful ideas. Until you mentioned the Mickey Mouse ears I thought it looked great. I clicked on the link to the fontworks and was wondering if the Georgian alphabet you used was the actual font size on the stamp?

Whatever! You are WAY to hard on yourself. I'm still not seeing Mickey ears. It looks like three circles to me! Totally adorable!

Very cute card! I need to get my hands on some outline alpha stamps.

OH, OT: have you been on Stephenie Meyer's website recently???? What do you think of the guy they chose to play Edward? He was Cedric in HP. I just don't think he's gorgeous enough to be Edward ... but, then again, no one really is.

I didn't think of Mickey Mouse ears till you I read post. I was only wondering how you got the punch so far down on the paper, does the SU! punch go that far in? Or does it just look far in the picture. It's a great card though. Are the letters very fragile now or are they pretty strong?

I have ruined more cards (at least to me when I look at them) by not "ignoring my gut". It's nice to hear that even the pors have this problem!

I love the little holes with the hearts in them! Although, now that you said something, I do see Mickey! LOL!! Maybe just one would have been better....but I still think it is a great card!!! Oh, BTW, I just ordered a Stamp-a-ma-jig just because of you! It should be here tomorrow, just in time to help me with my Christmas cards!! I'll let you know how it goes! :-)

Carol:

Uh.......since when does Mickey Mouse have 3 ears?! LOL This card is lovely and those letters were all worth the time you spent to cut them out. Actually, without those 3 punched circles, the card would look like it needs something else. I like it the way it is:) You haven't made anything yet that I don't like!!!

I love the circles with the hearts peaking through...that's probably the best idea I got from this card - so I'd say your instinct was a good one!

Your work is awesome. I know what you mean when you feel like you should have left well enough alone.
Maybe three smaller circles in a row would have been better.
I watch your Monday card every week... Love it !!
Have a great Christmas.
