New York Inspired 1

102307-nyc3.jpg

102307-nyc2.jpg Hi all! I'm finally back in town. Back to the regular schedule. :)

I had tons of fun in New York City! It was awesome! Anway, I thought I'd use some pictures from the trip for inspiration for card for the next fews days. This first card was inspired by a peeling sign I saw in Chinatown. An awesome new friend at Basic Grey (hey Jen!) sent me some paper to try out and when I saw it I knew it was perfect for this card!

The paper I used is from their Periphery Collection, and it's awesome! I've always loved Basic Grey stuff because it's so grungy and eclectic. The graphic designer in me just loves all the layering they include in their artwork. I tend to go more graphic and clean, but sometimes a girl's gotta break out of her usual routine, ya know? :)

So this is a bit of a messier card for me. Definitely a challenge and departure from what I usually do. Hmmm... Do you like it?

I'll also leave you with a couple videos. The first is self-explanatory, and the second... well, I used a song in it, so I couldn't put it on Revver. Hopefully the YouTube video works. :) Enjoy! BTW, here's a shout out to the lovely Annie who is in the videos. Hey Annie!

Hey U - Defining Alphabet stamp set, Basic Gray ink, and 1/8" hole punch: Stampin' Up!; date stamp: 7Gypsies; textured card stock: Bazzill; patterned paper: Basic Grey; ribbon: Fancy Pants; buttons and thread: unknown.

I {heart} NYC. I miss being on the East Coast. The videos were great and the card is fabulous! Sometimes change is good.

How fun!!! I love NYC...and a funny story about the purses. As we walked along the streets, guys with giant bundles of purses hidden under trash bags kept saying "Chanel? Chanel?" And I thought they were calling my name! "Shannan, Shannan" LOL

I like the videos Kristina. To the millions (I'm sure it's millions by now) who read this blog: that crazy cute girl Annie who dances like a giddy schoolgirl is my sister, my favorite one in fact. And yes...that is normal behavior. Well, normal for her. Kristina, I'm jealous that you got to go on a fun trip with her. Actually, I'm jealous of Annie too, for that matter, because she got to go on a fun trip with you! Glad you girls got back safely.

These fun vids were a great way to start off my morning since my coffee pot died before I could get my first cup:( This girl knows how to enjoy herself and it makes me smile to see her kicking up her heels like that! I'm glad you all enjoyed a fun trip and are back home safe and sound.
Incidentally, I love this card! I love the buttons, distressed papers and the old lace. It works beautifully for me! TFS :)

Wow Kristina! Looks like you had a great time! I love the videos, especially those dance moves - very cool! And the card is gorgeous! In a line up, I wouldn't have selected it as yours, but you can pull off anything and make it look REAL good! Fabulous, actually!! Of all the new BG papers I had to get the entire Periphery pack first. Obscure works for my 12 year old skateboarding DS too!
You keep us entertained, educated, and surprised! I love it!

Just came across this post from awhile back and was delighted to see that you came to the Big Apple. If you're planning to do it again, let me know. I'd love to meet you there (I live only an hour away) and say hello or maybe do lunch!
