Just the basics, please!

Forever Absolutely Fabulous - Kraft and Basic Black card stock, Basic Black marker, Little Pieces and Absolutely Fabulous stamp sets (Stampin' Up!); Forever stamp (Heidi Swapp); ColorBox inks.

Hi all!

Sometimes we forget how simple card making and stamping can be, right? Sometimes it's just about the paper, ink, and stamps. :)

I haven't gone back to basics in a really long time--probably not since my beginning days of stamping aka "pre-dimensionals." Once I knew about Stampin' Dimensionals, I was a gonner for the muti-layered card. :)

merry-091907.jpg

Merry - Kraft card stock, Big Pieces, Sparkling Sayings and Hung Up on the Holidays stamp sets (Stampin' Up!); VersaMark; ColorBox inks.

So this morning's visit to the land of card stock and ink was super fun! I broke out one of the stamps I received at ScrapFest in the Heidi Swapp techniques class, and mostly stuck with chalk inks. Man, I love chalk ink! It's awesome! I don't have very many colors, though. I have an old ColorBox petal thingy (used to be in the SU! catalog, but it's since retired), and a charcoal cat-eye pad that I also received at ScrapFest, but other than that, my colors are very limited.

Anyone else like working with limited supplies? I LOVE it! It makes me think a little harder and it's a challenge!

Anyhow, how are you going "Back to Basics"? Take the challenge, create something with just the basics, and leave a link here so we can all see what you've been up to.

:)

I love simple cards and limited supplies. I do that all the time and I'm actually trying to go the opposite direction for a while. Just to try something different.

I love both of your cards!

I agree with the masses, you R-O-C-K!!! There isn't a card that I don't love. Your eye for color and the clean lines of each design makes me want to create. Truly inspiring! Thanks for sharing!!!

These are great! I wish I could make the basics look so elegant. I love the masking around the ornaments. It is a very cute card.

The pink dots really make the first card pop.

Ditto to the previous comments - Love the cards! So inspiring!

Could you please pass along how you cut and glue such small pieces of black card stock to the FOREVER card?
Thanks!

Kristina says: Thanks, Heather! I actually use a very thin line of liquid glue. I prefer Tombow Mono Multi Glue. Hope that helps!

Wow, how stunning. Did you watch Top Chef last night. The challenge was to make an incredible dish using, guess what, the basics: chicken, potatoe and an onion. Hmmm, maybe you inspired them.

I hope you've created a new trend of making simpler designs out of limited supplies. I know I'm not the only beginner who has limited supplies who'd appreciate it. Another wonderful entry. You're very inspiring, to say the least.

These are lovely! You inspired me to make a set based on your ornament card. I've turned it sideways and changed the sentiment though because I didn't have your "merry" stamp, and the boldness of that phrase seems to be what really 'makes' the card. I have to remember to keep it more simple!
