Josh Groban Rocks! (literally)
I just got home from the Josh Groban concert and I have to write a few things down before I forget:
- They were filming for the Concert DVD! So fun! This is the second concert filiming I've been to. I went to a Jim Brickman concert here in Salt Lake many years ago that was taped for a DVD as well. It was really entertaining and I was so surprised they cut out the scene of Jim breaking a piano string! We all heard this tap-tap-tap noise and then he just stopped playing the piano, stood up, looked inside the HUGE grand piano, and said, "Whoa, that's never happened." That was the most memorable part of the concert! But back to Josh...
- DANGIT! I forgot my little digital camera. They weren't even checking out purses for cameras or anything. Everyone was just clicking away. Maybe Emily got some pictures?
- He is too funny! I'm not sure if it was staged or not, but at one point a fan rushed the stage and handed him two things: a cowboy hat and some white sunglasses. He put on the cowboy hat, sat at the piano and starting singing some country, and then put on the glasses and sang some "Tiny Dancer" a la Elton John! Hilarious!
- He brought along one of my other favorite musicians, Lucia Micarelli (check out her blog here!). Seriously people, you need to hear her stuff. It's amazing! The minute she came out on stage, I though, "Wait a minute... is that Lucia?" She performed her version of Kashmir that appears on William Joseph's Within album (also super good!). See a video of her playing Kashmir at her site, here! --> This isn't the same rendition from the concert tonight, but you get the idea! :)
- Josh did three, count 'em, THREE encores! I have never heard a crowd scream so loud!
- Okay? Our seats? Awesome! We were on the floor, center, about 20 rows back. But not only that, but we happened to be on the front row of our section, so there weren't any people in front of us! Great view. No having to peek between people's heads to see anything. :)
Ahhh... twas a great night. Now I'm super sleepy. 'Nite all!

You LUCKY DOG!!! Now, you may find this humorous because I will be 64 years old in 10 days - but I LOVE JOSH GROBAN! I would love to see him in concert. I have his song "You Lift Me Up" as my ringtone on my cell phone. Yeah, some people never grow up!! :0) You must have really enjoyed yourself.
I took my mom and 6 year old to see Josh here in Pittsburgh in early August. WOW!!!!!! I could have sat there ALL NIGHT listening to him sing! And you are right - he is very funny. I sprung for the hoodie and the pink bling t-shirt. I cannot wait for him to come this way again. To have gotten those seats, you must be a Grobanite ;)
Soooo Dirk and I decided to run an errand to Gateway Mall last night. We couldn't figure out what was going on that it was so crowded and people were charging $12 parking! Then we pulled into the mall parking lot and an attendant asked, "Josh Groban concert?" Dirk and I looked at each other .... "ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, right." :) Bad night to run errands! lol -- but I'm glad you had fun!!

Isn't the concert good! I saw it a couple weeks ago when he was in Calgary (my husband bought me tickets for a surprise!). I thought he was really funny and entertaining too. Lots of encores here as well and we also had a cowboy hat too. And a fan give him a big chocolate bar. Even the songs that I had no idea what he was saying were really good!
Sounds like you had a great time! Glad you opened up the comments cuz when you were writing about Twilight/Eclipse I was so wanting to rave with you. So here I am now saying Eclipse was my fave so far!!!! Have a great day. Love the cupcakes.

Wow...what an awesome time!!! Too much fun! I hope Emily is able to share some pics with you. ;)
LUCKY YOU! My sis and I saw him the last time he was here in Las Vegas. What an awesome show (and our seats weren't even that great). He puts on a good show - could listen to him for days!!!
Girl,
You are so lucky to have seen Josh Groban. I just love his music and have all of his CD's. What part of the country to live. I am in the state of Delaware and not to many folks come here. Sometimes at the State Fair we might get a few country singers, but that's about it.
Enjoy your weekend!
Maureen
Glad to hear that you had a great time at the concert. I hope Emily did get pictures to share with you. Sounds like you had good seats.
You are just too funny!! While I was reading your post I was totally feeling your enthusiasm and how much fun you had!! I'm glad you had a great time since you were looking forward to this for a long time!!

I saw Josh Groban in Fort Wayne, IN. He was great! I couldn't believe HOW FUNNY HE IS!!! He always seems so serious - but he joked with the audience all night! I love your blog!
I'm a JG fan, too, but I really want to thank you for the heads up on Lucia Micarelli. I've never heard of her before but so enjoyed checking out the link. I'll be ordering a CD soon. It must have been a heckuva show.
I went to see him a month ago.. he had the hat and did Elton John and Bon Jovi. :o)
Glad you had a good time... I enjoyed the concert too... loved Lucia's performance...
I haven't had time to really blog about it yet, but yes I did get pictures. They're not very good, but they're ok. Even got some video! It was a fabulous concert wasn't it? So we were like 18th row, far right (if you're facing the stage) where he walked up the aisle during In Her Eyes. That's when he touched me!
