Rock on! & a baby card

So a few of you (read: a lot) have noticed that a few of my cards are in the September issue of Stampin' Success (the magazine for Demonstrators). :) I was one of the lucky ones to "test drive" the new Demonstrator Business Web Site. Let me tell you, it's awesome! Ya'll are going to love it!

Yesterday, I got my goodie box from Northridge Media (I have things in both Cards Magazine and Scrapbook Trends). Lots of fun things to create with, including some AWESOME paper from Creative Imaginations. Check it: cherries, skulls and cross bones, edgy stickers. So cool! I'm pretty sure all of it was made with a teenager in mind, but I love it anyway!

Here's a card I made with the cherry patterned paper.

You Rock - Patterned paper: Creative Imaginations; stamps (Well-Worn Alphabet, Rough Edges Alphabet, Straight Up Alphabet and Numbers, Three For You), ink, embossing powder, eyelets, ribbon, and card stock: Stampin' Up!.

I also had a workshop this afternoon. The hostess is an avid photographer and requested card with photos. I wasn't sure what to do because I haven't put pictures on cards before, so I asked around and someone suggested I try photos on this card. Renae, you're a genius!

Here's how the photo card turned out. I used photos from a shoot I did for my good friend Melissa (see some shots here). This is her little guy who is so HUGE now compared to when these photos were taken.

Baby Card - All supplies from Stampin' Up! Polka Dots and Petals stamp set; Pumpkin Pie and Soft Sky card stock; VersaMark ink; Old Olive Prints Designer Series Paper; 1-1/4" square punch; Certainly Celery wide grosgrain.

OMG I love your creations. This photo card is awesome. I wish I could take good pictures. I need to invest in a digital camera any suggestions? BTW which cards are yours in the SS?

Kristina says: Hi Terry! As far as cameras go, I love Canon. I own a Canon Digital Rebel XT so I can totally recommend that. Their point and shoot cameras (Power Shot series) are really good as well.

All six of the cards shown in the DBWS screen shots are mine. :)

Hooray for not having to create a new account to post a comment. I LOVE your blog. Thanks for making it easier ot let you know! :-)

That baby card is adorable. I actually picked up some funky pirate paper for my son yesterday at my L.S.S. It was so totally not my style, but having two boys, I guess I'm going to have some funky paper now an again. And, he had a pirate party for his birthday, so its totally fitting.

Wow, I love both of the cards. Great way to incorporate the photos. Your photos are wonderful too. Congrats on SS, Scrapbook Trends and Cards magazine. I am totally not surprised though. I think that we will be seeing a lot more in the future. Keep creating. By the way, I just finished Twilight this morning. I was pretty convinced by your recommendation that it would be good but I never imagined how much it would really affect me. This series will definitley be a favorite forever. I can't wait to get to the bookstore to get the next book. Have a great day!

Kara Pothier:

I was browsing through some of the blog sites you look at, I came across a girl by the name of Emily Kate. As I was scrolling down I noticed some pictures with people I recognized from our ward here in Milwaukee. Evidently her sister-in-law lives here, her daughter is in nursery with Hallie, it's a small world sometimes!!

Kristina says: Kara, that's so cool! It is such a small world!

I love that you can answer questions right in the comments. Can you take some photos or give some very clear directions on how you got your squares all straight in a row and perfectly spaced.

Kristina says: I love that I can answer questions, too, Julie! To get the punched squares just right, I punched out three squares out of scratch paper, adhered them to the Soft Sky card stock so I could evenly space them out, and then kept them on there while I punched over them. Does that make sense? If not, leave another comment and I'll try explaining better. :)
