Bored?
Journaling: "I'm bored." "Nice to meet you, Bored." I swear, I'm becoming my mother. She always used to say that and I promised myself I never would. Oh, well.
Pubs Watch: February Hey all! This is a friendly reminder to pick up the February issue of Cards Magazine, and the February/March issue of Paper Trends. In Cards, I'm on pages 91 and 121! And I haven't received my copy of Paper Trends yet, but there should be a card in there as well. :) Here's to first times being published!
Charlet Clip & Card Hi all! It's been a few days since I checked in but only because I've been super busy! Anyway, here's the latest creation. It's a small gift for my manager at work. I recently changed departments and have already moved cubicles, but I had yet to make her a small gift. Tomorrow is my sort of "goodbye" lunch, so I thought I better get it in gear and make something!
Supplies - All supplies are from American Crafts, except for the lined paper (Heidi Swapp journaling spot), the textured card stock (Bazzill), and the wood clip (Peg photo clip from Nexxt--I bought a set of two at Archivers). I also made a scrapbook page using most of the same supplies. :)
Happy Bday
Supplies - Card stock, paper piercer: Stampin' Up!; gel pen: uni-ball Signo Gel Pen; ribbon, rub-ons and Thickers: American Crafts. A birthday card for a coworker. :)
Blacksmith Shop in Williamsburg
I just wanted to share one of my favorite photographs from Williamsburg, Virgina. I was there last fall and it was an incredible experience. This photo was taken in the blacksmith's shop. Colonial Williamsburg is an acutal working town, so the men working in the shop were making things for other citizens of the town. From a photographer's point of view, there was absolutely gorgeous light filtering into the shop. I couldn't help taking a few photos.
Box
Supplies - Patterned paper and ribbon: American Crafts; stamp (Riveting set), stamping ink (also used to "paint" box), circle punches, and solid card stock: Stampin' Up! I actually made this box a long time ago and just realized I hadn't uploaded it. :) Enjoy!
Welcome to... UPDATE 2: I've decided to just call it, "KWerner Design Blog." On one hand, it's completely generic. On the other hand, it's completely generic. Not many people will have that name, right? Watch for a new graphic tonight. :) UPDATE: So I found someone on Splitcoast who has the name PaperCrafty (who has some great stuff, btw)... so I'm back to sqaure one. This naming thing is hard! Please ignore the graphic at the top of the page--I have to get home tonight and change it. Dangit! I thought I found a name I liked. Oh, well. Paper Crafty! I even googled it first this time. :) Thanks for all your suggestions! Paper Crafty just came to me suddenly... I'm a little bit sneaky ;) , little bit crafty, and I enjoy some nice patterned paper. Sounds about right to me.
Lookin' for a new name UPDATE: Thanks for all your suggestions. They were awesome! I've decided to just stick with KWerner Design Blog. It fits, I suppose. :) So, it's come to my attention (by vainly googling "scraptv") that my blog name is already in use by an actual television scrapbooking show. I feel sort of bummed out. I mean, who wants to change the name of their blog *months* after it's been going strong? Not me. And, no, no one is asking me to. But I still feel weird having the same name. Okay, so here's the deal... I'm looking for a new blog name. Or maybe a none-name, like "The Blog Formerly Known as ScrapTV." Maybe just call it "K". I've always liked the first letter of my name--I think most people like their first initial, right? Anyway, I'm up for suggestions. What do you think it should be called? I have no idea what it will end up being, but if I choose one of your suggestions, that person will receive not a whole lot--just my unending gratitude and props. Well, okay. Maybe I'll send that person a little RAK, maybe some stamps and a few paper goodies that I've kept around for such occasions. :) And get creative about it--silly suggestions are welcome, too. Don't make me look like an idiot now... leave some comments. Even if it's just to say, "Hey. I got no ideas for ya. Do it on your own." :) P.S. I'm currently watching (and downloading via iTunes) the first season of The West Wing. Why did I not watch this when it was on TV for free!? It's a freakin' awesome show. I'm totally in love with Bradley Whitford (Danny) from Studio 60, so I knew The West Wing would be a sure bet. Any other West Wing lovers out there? ;)
Tutorial: Circle Window w/ Frame ![]() The image above is the card my stamp club members will be making this Thursday at our meeting. I based this card off scrapperaddict's card (found here). I had to modify it so that it would be easier to make. And so here's a quick tutorial... Circle Window with Frame 1. Gather your supplies: pencil ![]() 2. Take the 1-1/4" Circle Punch (the smaller one) and position it on the celery card stock. Punch. If you're using a SU! punch, the card stock is size perfectly to be flush against the inside of the punch and you'll get a precisely centered circle. ![]() 3. Place a small amount of adhesive (just for placement during the next step) on the celery card stock, and gently press the patterned tan card stock on top. Carefully turn over and trace the punched circle. ![]() 4. Separate the tan and celery pieces. Center the 1-3/8" Circle Punch (the larger one) over the traced circle on the tan card stock. Punch. ![]() 5. Adhere the tan patterned piece over the celery. ![]() 6. Prepare your white square card stock by placing foam mounts on each corner. ![]() 7. With the image still facing up, take the punched card stock pieces and carefully place over stamped image, centering it in the window. ![]() 8. Turn over and place two foam mounts on bottom corners. Also apply adhsive on the white card stock. ![]() 9. Turn over and position over cocoa card stock. Press down to adhere.

I had the chance to take some photographs of one of my good friends this morning. She's expecting a baby in a few more weeks and needed some "soon-to-be-a-mommy" photos. Isn't she beautiful?! And she's going to be the cutest mom ever!
I love Jim & Pam! For all you Jim/Pam lovers of The Office (seriously, it will make your day so much better): Thanks to Erica for the link!
Salt Lake Stamp Camp Hi everyone! I'm so excited to invite any and all of you to a Stampin' Up! Stamp Camp that I'm helping to prepare! It will be happening on Saturday, February 3 in Sandy, Utah. Cost: $25 ($10 will go toward an order that day) If anyone is interested in attending, please email me and I will send you more information. :) The five projects we will be doing (I only designed the first one--the other four are from other demonstrators in my group):
You will make just one of these:

"Steve Jobs" on SNL LOL!! You've gotta see this... "Steve Jobs" on SNL.
Just 4 Me - A Reminder
Tutorial: Circular Edge I've been asked how I created the circular edge on this card. So here's the tutorial: Circular Edge 1. Start by cutting your card base. I cut a 4" x 8" base (folded 4" x 4"). Measure in about 1.5" and draw a vertical line (usually I would draw this in pencil so it could be erased later, but I drew it in pen here so it would show up in the picture).
2. Line up Coluzzle template so that the outer circle intersects at the points where the vertical line meets the top and bottom of the card front. Cut.
3. You should end up with something like this:
If you don't have a Coluzzle, you could use a dinner plate or bowl and trace the edge and then cut it out. I used both before I bought a Coluzzle. :)
TiVo Obsessed! Okay, so I am completely obsessed with my TiVo now... I loved it before, but now that Mac users can transfer their recorded TiVo programs to their computers (and ultimately ipods), I just LOVE IT! I especially like this because I recorded a bunch--I mean a LOT--of episodes of Wildfire on New Years Day when ABC Family had a marathon. I've never seen the show, but my step-sister (who loves horses) really likes the show, so I thought I might watch it so we have something in common to talk about (she's thirteen and therefore we are limited on things to talk about). I have yet to watch even one episode, but I need the room on my Tivo, so transferring them and then taking them off the TiVo is great! In other TV news, okay, so who loved last night's episode of The Office? Me! Me! My favorite scene had to be Angela asking Pam to go get some coffee... and then Angela beaming while she told Pam about Dwight taking the papers to NYC for her... Awww! If I can't be all gooey over Jim and Pam, I'll totally cheer for Dwight and Angela. They are cute in a weird way, don't ya think?
Workshop Projects
SAB Workshop #1 I had my first SU! Sell-A-Bration workshop last night. I've only done a small number of workshops outside of my monthly club since I became a demonstrator last August, but I took a different approach this time... In the past, I've absolutely hated all the business stuff I have to cover, especially when presenting to experienced scappers. It just takes SO long and that's not really why I'm there. I'm there to teach new techniques, show product, and answer questions, right? So this time I took this approach: Cut to the chase. I introduced myself and went right into the projects. While I was demonstrating them, I mentioned some of the important things like mounting stamps and the way Sell-A-Bration and mini catalogs works. Just general information they need to know to order. I was hoping that my general enthusiasm would make up the difference. And it did! My workshop closed at over $500 and I got two bookings! I'm so happy with the outcome. I'll come back tonight and post the projects I made (a scrapbook page and a card).
Apple iPhone I am such a computer/mac geek! How much did this make me drool?... I cannot tell you! I really want one of the new iPhones--SUPER COOL! This alone is reason enough to make me switch to Cingular. :) I just don't know how I'm going to wait until June!
Just a heads up...
that I've removed a couple more things because of magazine requests! Wahoo! The Card Fest really worked! I encourage all of you who are not regular submitters to magazines to just make a ton of cards (on topic--check The Pub Calls Blog and individual magazine sites) and submit them all at once. You increase your odds with each one! :) And if you end up doing this and it works, let me know! I want to hear about your successes. :)
HOLY FREAKIN' COW!
So, this link is currently circulating among the American Craft gals... (prepare to wet your pants): New American Crafts! (Winter '07) Oh, the goodness! I have never been more excited and grateful to be on the design team--I get to work with this stuff extensively! Wahoo! In other AC news, I met Sarah Champion and a couple more AC people last Friday. Sarah invited me to a "Nacho Party" at her friend's house. It was SUPER fun! It was like being at a party with all the cool kids--everyone was just so funny and great to be around. I now have most of my blog all figured out... still trying to make an archive of just entry titles. I've also created new photo galleries using the coolest Movable Type templates. Check out the galleries.
New Home = New Card Hi everyone! This week has been so busy! I've had no time to sit down and do anything crafty. But in honor of the new digs (thanks Yahoo! Hosting!), here's a card I made this last weekend but haven't sent yet. It's for Sarah, my AC buddy. I'm sure in real life she looks much better than this... This was my first attempt at cutting out itty bitty pieces of paper... uh, yeah. Hard.
Card Fest & EMAIL!
So my email is working again! Hallelujah! It wasn't working for, what, 6 days! SIX DAYS! I can't believe the webhosting company. Totally unacceptable. I've already set things in motion to switch to a different company (who supports Moveable Type pre-installed so I can make my blog all pretty-like). Take that! Okay, so the Card Fest was phenomenally successful! I just got requests for seven cards! Wahoo! I had to take the photos of a couple down, but they'll be back after the magazine's out. :) Let me tell ya, having to write instructions for seven cards takes a long time. I don't know how all the writers at Stampin' Up! do it! Day in and day out, writing all those instructions for publications. Wow. Stamp this. Stamp that. Fold this. Tie that. Crazy! ----------------------- I have my first Sell-A-Bration workshop next week. One of my friends from work Lisa is hosting it so it should be so much fun. However, I have yet to plan the projects! Ah! Good thing I don't have huge plans this weekend--otherwise, I'd be hurtin'. I just have to remember to plan ahead for Lisa's workshop and my step-sister's (the next week) at the same time. Save some work. Cut things for both at the same time. ------------------------ So, who loves Simon and Garfunkel? I recently "rediscovered" them over the holidays. I just love them! The last time I'd really listened to them was clear back in ninth grade. My history teacher would play their music in the background while we worked. She absolutely loved Simon and Garfunkel. Ironically, her name was Mrs. Robinson. ;)
Winners!
Well, I think I had a pretty good turnout considering it was over the holidays! :) Here are the entries in no particular order:
Sharon (notimetostamp) Angela (Inky Button) Stephanie (SmilynStef) Natasha Tracy Kristina P. Monika (Buzsy) Great job, girls! We have some super creative people and the cards you came up are fantastic! Now for the winners (randomly picked by my mother... "Hey, Mom! Pick a number between 1 and 7!"). The winners are: Stephanie and Kristina P.! Please email me with your mailing addresses so I can get these fabulous goodies out to you!
Unable to receive email Just so you all know, I have been unable to access my email since last Thursday. So, if anyone has sent me email and I haven't responded, it's only because my email is down.
